He lay quietly on the ground, waiting for the rain to stop.
The light drizzle continued to fall, like countless transparent silver needles piercing the earth from the sky, adorning the mountains and valleys. As the raindrops gradually subsided, they fell like thousands of pearls, filling the large valley and embellishing the entire green field.
Clouds drift and mist rises, their ever-changing forms mirroring the unpredictability of life.
But all of this has nothing to do with Jiangcheng anymore.
Before long, the sky finally cleared up.
A gentle breeze swept across the hillside, the dark clouds dispersed, and the sunlight began to spill over into the entire valley, gradually warming Jiang Cheng and making him feel a tingling sensation all over his body, a comfortable feeling filling his heart.
He didn't know when it happened, but his surroundings were filled with nameless wildflowers, the grass was lush and green, the air was fresh and clean, and the bright colors were scattered on the green grass, making it incredibly beautiful.
A gust of wind swept by, and the grass swayed like waves, rippling out in layers.
All of this soothed Jiang Cheng's heart, making him feel extremely comfortable.
It seems there's nothing more comfortable than lying here peacefully.
Summer has arrived in the blink of an eye.
Before Jiang Cheng could recover, the blazing sun suddenly shone high in the sky, and the air temperature soared dramatically. The heat was intense, like fire, and waves of heat rose from the exposed soil. Dust was crushed into fine powder, rising into the air like low, scattered dust everywhere. The areas covered by vegetation fared no better. Tall trees had their leaves curled up by the sun, the grass lay limp on the ground, and delicate flowers had even lost most of their moisture, wilting and swaying to one side.
The chirping of cicadas came from the branches of tall trees, high-pitched, monotonous, and incessant, making Jiangcheng extremely irritable.
He simply couldn't take it anymore.
Even though he was just a small stone, the heatwave was still unbearable for him.
The heat at this moment was so real, unlike before when his senses were dulled. Jiang Cheng could clearly feel the vicious attacks of every wave of heat, as if it wanted to make him explode from the inside out.
The intense heat was relentless, as if it would roast him alive.
But he was just a stone.
What can he do?
It's no use...
My soul is almost turned to dust...
He felt completely powerless, and was surrounded by a persistent, lingering pain.
He didn't know how much time had passed. Just when Jiang Cheng thought he was about to be tormented to death by this endless pain, a bone-chilling wind suddenly swept in, and the sun instantly hid behind the dark clouds. The sky suddenly darkened, a gale howled across the plain, dust billowed up, and the dampness returned.
again……
Is it going to rain again?
This rain was clearly different from the previous spring rain. If spring rain is indeed refreshing, then summer rain is like pouring a ladle of boiling water over a sweltering day, making it even harder to breathe.
Leaves flew through the air, and a downpour seemed imminent. Suddenly, a mist of varying thickness drifted in from afar, as if a haze had begun to swirl on the horizon, completely imperceptible to Jiang Cheng. The valley wasn't actually that large, and within a few breaths, it was filled with a vast expanse of white mist. The moist air settled on Jiang Cheng's "body," or rather, his skin, giving him a slight feeling of dampness and finally pulling him away from the endless heat.
The next second, an extremely strong cold wind howled past, carrying away Jiang Cheng's soul, which had already been baked to dust by the heat.
He felt himself floating up, but he didn't know where he was going, nor did he want to know.
"hiss!"
Jiang Cheng's soul suddenly awoke.
Whether it was the cold wind that woke him up or his soul returning to his body, Jiang Cheng felt a huge roar around him and an extremely terrifying cold, as if he had been frozen into an ice cellar.
He couldn't tell if the roar came from outside or if his mind was still reeling from the impact, but he knew for sure that his body was back, and it was definitely not the small stone he had been before.
"Uh, hiss—"
Jiang Cheng tried to make some sounds, but in the end all the syllables returned to his throat, turning into a single sound that didn't seem like something a human could produce.
He could only try to open his eyes again.
It can't make a sound, but its eyes should be able to open, right?
He tried for a long time, but his eyes remained tightly shut, as if someone had deliberately sealed his eyelids with superglue. The more he tried, the more defiant he became. Jiang Cheng felt the veins bulging on his forehead, yet he still forced his eyes open.
Suddenly, a wet sensation welled up from the corner of his eye, slid down his nasolabial fold, and finally landed on the back of his hand.
"Clatter."
Jiang Cheng keenly noticed the sound of the water droplets bursting.
This is a good omen.
As long as he can still shed tears, it means his eyes can open. Perhaps a little lubrication would be more beneficial?
At the same time, Jiang Cheng suddenly had a thought and began to call out to Gu Qingwan in his mind.
"Gu Qingwan...where are you...are you still by my side...?"
Since you can't speak, shouldn't you be able to communicate in another way?
Jiang Cheng tried his best to open his eyes and called out in his mind, but still received no response.
The complete silence in his mind was as if his consciousness had never been connected with Gu Qingwan.
Jiangcheng panicked.
Could it be that the dream world he is currently in, or some other strange dimension, is inaccessible to Gu Qingwan?
