The next day.
Early in the morning.
Demu Jingfeng, who was about to accompany some senior executives to play golf, had just finished breakfast.
Before he had even left his seat at the table, someone rushed in to report.
The man whispered in his ear, "Something happened in Xiayi Village last night. Eight or nine assassins died, and three houses were burned down..."
"What?"
Demu Jingfeng's expression suddenly turned gloomy. He grabbed the fork in his hand and casually threw it onto the table.
"Ding-dong—"
"I'm not eating anymore." He wiped his hands and stood up, his long sideburns highlighting his handsome features.
He simply put on a suit jacket.
As the nominal manager of the Xiayi Village assassins, he bears some responsibility for this incident, and it will sound even worse to others.
Some of the nobles in the Sakura Kingdom are involved in the management of the various villages that raise assassins.
Demu Jingfeng is one of them.
His mood at this moment was beyond bad; beneath his ashen face lay a storm brewing. The subordinate who had brought the message didn't dare utter a sound, following behind for fear of incurring his wrath.
Jingfeng lives within the city limits, which is a long drive from that desolate gathering place of assassins; even driving fast, it takes at least half an hour to get there.
We stepped out of the villa.
His men had already prepared a discreet Mercedes sedan, its doors wide open.
De Mujingfeng got into the back seat with a cold face, and the driver even put one hand above the car door.
"What exactly happened?"
With his trusted aide sitting down beside him and all other people gone, he finally asked the question.
"There was no damage at the scene. You'll see when you go and see for yourself, President. It was done on purpose, and the people they hired are of unpredictable strength."
"Unpredictable?"
“Yes, according to Zhishui’s message, they didn’t even see a single person. The whole crime was carried out without anyone noticing… like…” The confidant’s expression changed, as if he was choosing his words carefully. Then he took a deep breath and lowered his voice, “like ghosts!”
"Ha, just making a fuss." Demu Jingfeng crossed his legs, not caring at all.
Having grown up among the nobility for so many years, what kind of assassination attempts hadn't he witnessed? What seemed like a perfectly normal succession and change of thrones to outsiders was actually a den of iniquity.
Being in the dark.
Demu Jingfeng knew that the entire family was the real evil spirit of the Sakura Kingdom.
Under immense power.
Who would dare to cause trouble right under our noses?
He clenched his fist; wasn't this intentionally smearing his reputation?
As dawn breaks, the distant sky gradually brightens, with scattered clouds dotting the heavens. As the car speeds up, tall buildings recede into the distance, replaced by increasingly verdant forests.
The mountain is rugged and precipitous, and few outsiders venture there.
The entire area is under close surveillance.
Normally, without orders, these caged birds trapped inside will not step out.
Upon hearing that the village head was coming, people gathered in Xiayi Village.
That alley where many people died was guarded by seven or eight assassins.
Everything is exactly as it was.
Several of the suicide bombers' bodies were still hanging there, already turning bluish, their blood almost drained, staining a large patch of ground red.
Even with the man whose palm was pierced and driven into the ground, he remained in the same spot. No one took the knife from him; they simply wrapped half of the wound with gauze to stop the bleeding. Otherwise, he would have bled to death overnight. This shows how inhumane the assassins were.
Even so, his face was ashen and his lips were pale.
With his eyelids constantly drooping, it looked as if this person was about to go into shock and faint at any moment.
Zhi Shui didn't rest; instead, he led the other assassins to stay there for the entire night.
However, it seems that the perpetrator left after the incident last night, and there has been no further movement.
The guards responsible for watching over him were terrified, fearing that the enemy might suddenly attack at night and cause a few more corpses to be hanging.
"Lord Shimizu, the president is arriving soon."
"Okay, bring it over here."
Hearing the voice of the person next to him, Zhishui snapped out of his meditative state, removed his hand from the hilt of the knife, and slowly opened his eyes.
Now that the boss has arrived.
Then his guard duty will be complete.
A short, stocky man, dressed in a suit and wearing sunglasses, was followed by another man, also dressed in an expensive suit, with long hair tied in a small braid, two strands of bangs on his forehead, and a neatly trimmed stubble.
See this little braid.
The assassins all knelt on one knee.
Lower your head.
He respectfully greeted, "President!"
One of the top-ranked clubs in the entire Sakura Country: Yagi-sha.
Demu Jingfeng is the president of the club.
This is also his public identity.
Demu Jingfeng glanced around at the horrific scene in the alley, then slowly walked from the end of the alley inwards, coldly observing the corpses and the barely breathing man lying on the ground.
Zhishui walked over beside him.
She whispered in his ear, "It hasn't moved at all; it's exactly the same as yesterday."
"Um……"
Jingfeng crouched down and carefully examined the knife stuck in the ground.
His eyes were cold and stern.
This steel knife is the most ordinary kind; you can buy it in any store you walk into, and even street thugs sometimes use it for hacking and slashing. It has no special features whatsoever.
But it's a knife like this.
This further illustrates that the perpetrator wanted to conceal their identity.
"Sizzle—"
"Ah!! Ugh..."
Jing Feng pulled out the knife, and the assassin who was about to faint was suddenly awakened by the pain. He subconsciously wanted to shout out, but when he saw the person in front of him, he was stunned and quickly suppressed the scream in his throat.
