The following evening, it rained for two days straight, day and night, and the whole world became damp.
The moss grew more and more vigorously, and each little bubble was filled with water droplets.
The lake water was high, and frogs were croaking incessantly.
The reeds on the bank were a vibrant green, and schools of plump fish swam around, though most of these fish were carnivorous.
Countless corpses thrown into the lake fed them.
The clanging and banging had barely stopped when there were still many small puddles on the road.
A sedan chair was carried down the mountain by four masked men who were as thin as bamboo poles, all the way to the entrance of Minglingye's courtyard.
That crazy maid is here again.
But this time she was really startled!
Upon reaching the courtyard gate, three or four burly men with knives stood there, looking fierce and menacing.
She cautiously stepped back as she lifted the curtain.
"Miss Jiaxian is looking for someone, please move aside!"
While she was afraid, she quickly realized that these were just lowly servants, and she was there on orders. What was there to be afraid of? Her voice immediately rose.
The mad maid took out a delicate jade pendant from her waist and showed it to the people.
Her eyes darted around, wondering if Ming Lingye had done something wrong, otherwise why would someone be guarding him here?
"Come in."
Suddenly, a slightly magnetic voice rang out from the courtyard.
Upon hearing this, the burly men quickly moved aside to either side of the door, their faces immediately showing utmost respect.
The mad maid was somewhat stunned and looked around.
I stepped inside anyway.
Upon entering, the situation inside was even more astonishing...
The place was still piled up like a small mountain of various kinds of junk, and the living area had not changed much, but a small wooden corridor had been built in the open space, and several people were sitting inside.
Minglingye is located in the very center of it all.
Fragrant tea was brewing in a small wooden teacup. A young girl sat upright, with long, jet-black hair, beautiful eyes like black grapes, a mole on the corner of her lip, and a flute in her hand.
The melodious sound of the flute floated by, bringing a sense of tranquility and joy.
Ming Lingye took a sip of tea, his gaze indifferent, quiet and leisurely.
This completely stunned the mad maid. A village of assassins! A place where the strong prey on the weak, a place devoid of humanity!
Are you on vacation here?
There's music to listen to? And tea to drink!
What kind of carefree life are they living?
For a moment, she thought she was hallucinating, or had she come to the wrong place! But the guy in front of her, judging from his appearance, was indeed Ming Lingye!
However, there were a few people around the other party.
The mad maid felt a chill run down her spine as she entered, for the eyes of these people were like those of venomous snakes, and each of them was an unkind person.
But somehow, it feels like these people are surrounding Minglingye...
She swallowed hard and mustered her courage to say, "Miss Jiaxian asked me to take you to the palace."
"Okay, let's listen to this one."
Ming Lingye showed no intention of getting up, leaving her standing there awkwardly, creating an extremely embarrassing situation.
She didn't know how to deal with herself anymore.
A few minutes later.
The melodious flute music finally stopped, and the girl silently put down her instrument.
Matsuzaka looked amazed, seemingly still wanting more.
Lord Mingling is truly amazing. He managed to get Xia Chuanmei, the most aloof assassin in Group A, to perform. None of them have ever done that in all the time they've known each other.
"Okay, I'll go. While I'm gone, keep order and everything as usual."
Ming Lingye finally stood up, gave a few instructions, and then walked over to the maid.
"Be careful on the road."
"I remember, Lord Mingling, return as soon as possible."
The people next to them dared not sit any longer and quickly got up.
Respectfully.
The scene terrified the mad maid.
How come it's only been a few days? Last time I came to Minglingye, I was staying in this doghouse-like place where I was bullied by everyone, but this time I've completely changed and my status is so superior!
What exactly happened?
She was in a daze.
Jiang Cheng walked right past him and stepped onto the sedan chair outside the door.
"No, I must... I absolutely must tell His Highness about this. This is no ordinary behavior." The mad maid came to her senses and secretly plotted in her mind.
She quickly followed Jiang Cheng out the door and sat down together.
However, this time he didn't dare to act recklessly like last time, and was somewhat wary.
...
...
The journey takes nearly an hour.
Jiang Cheng closed his eyes to rest, feeling the winding mountain road, his expression calm.
The mad maid kept staring at him, her mind filled with countless questions, but she never dared to ask them aloud.
As night fell.
Lights twinkled along one side of the mountain path, like fireflies and candles, creating a breathtaking sight from a distance.
The palace halfway up the mountain was even more magnificent, truly an extremely beautiful gilded cage.
This time, the meeting wasn't as abrupt as the last one.
After Jiang Cheng was led into the main hall, the mad maid waited with him. The unique, cool fragrance of the place lingered in the air, and the patterns on the walls remained as strange and unpredictable as ever.
Not long after.
Demuk Chia-Hsien appeared, wearing a gorgeous dark gold train dress. She walked in from the side, her eyes somewhat indifferent and her expression not very good.
She walked to the front of the zither platform, sat down, and waved her hand to offer Jiang Cheng a seat.
Xiao Rou followed closely behind her, her expression filled with hostility from the moment Jiang Cheng appeared. She pouted, as if she was about to rush up and bite him if no one was watching.
Jiang Cheng didn't know what he had done to offend her.
"How is it?" De Mu Jia Xian asked lazily, his fair hand outstretched as Xiao Rou trimmed his nails.
