Now that Jiang Cheng has returned, the matter of moving the mechs to the Arctic should not be delayed. However, the question of how the mechs will get there is a bit of a mystery to everyone.
The mechs have flight capabilities, but they require a huge amount of energy and can only stay in the air for a very short time.
There is currently no way on Earth to enable a mech of this weight to fly continuously.
The original plan was for the mechs to automatically navigate to the Arctic defense line area, while the remaining members of the mech division would travel there by icebreaker, carrying all the cumbersome documents and equipment. They were all prepared for a long journey, and some even had seasickness medication in their pockets.
Jiang Cheng rejected the plan, his face full of mystery.
Probably only a handful of people in the Federation know how they got there, and Wan Xingyan is one of them, though he is also very secretive about it.
Just minutes before their departure, Jiang Cheng ordered everyone to gather, including Zhao Xuerou and Ke Bing. They all gathered in front of the open space at the foot of the War Maiden.
But once they arrived, no one saw him; only Wan Xingyan was checking the materials in his hands. Everyone began to whisper amongst themselves, wondering why he was standing there. Shouldn't he be packing up to catch his flight?
Zhao Xuerou crossed her arms and looked around, searching for Jiang Cheng. However, after waiting for a while, no one came. Instead, she saw several supply trucks slowly driving by on the road not far away.
No, you're not going to make us ride in the back of a truck to the icebreaker, are you? That would be too much of a hassle!
The thought suddenly occurred to her, and she stared in disbelief as the truck drove up and stopped in front of everyone.
The door of the first car opened, and Jiang Cheng's figure appeared.
He was dressed in a very smart outfit, dark blue, looking somewhat like a repairman. There were drawstrings at the cuffs and ankles, and two pockets on the front of his shirt for holding pens.
If it weren't for his outstanding demeanor and the fact that his face wasn't oily, people would have mistaken him for an employee of the materials department.
"Don't just stand there, get to work and move everything. Move all the documents and equipment from the testing room onto the truck."
Jiang Cheng got out of the car and was about to walk into the house when he turned back and waved to the crowd who were standing there in a daze, signaling them to get to work together.
"Move it all over the place? So much equipment?" Zhao Xuerou was dumbfounded.
"The deputy minister of supplies has gone to operate the robotic crane. Let's gather up the loose items and bring them out of the building. Look, there's a small cart on the truck."
As Jiang Cheng entered the house first, the most surprising scene was just beginning to unfold.
The moment he entered the room, the hundreds-of-meters-tall War Maiden suddenly moved, taking two steps to a position extremely close to everyone. Just a few meters away, a huge shadow loomed over them, startling everyone so much that they didn't even have the thought of running. Then, with her back to everyone, the War Maiden's thick, dragon-pillar-like foot armor plates caved inward, revealing a huge storage space, as large as half of the main hall of the Federal Building!
It turns out that Jiang Cheng had already prepared a plan for the relocation of supplies during the initial design phase. Everything was packed up and transported by the War Maidens in flight mode, along with the members of their mecha division.
This is truly a "flying mech" in the modern sense; each mech is a meticulously organized legion.
Seeing that Jiang Cheng had already started packing his things, the stunned crowd came to their senses and went into the room.
Moving is always a troublesome affair, especially for researchers who don't have the same standardized management as soldiers. Their files are scattered everywhere, and organizing them takes a lot of effort.
This busy work lasted for several hours, using all available manpower and machinery, before it was barely finished.
The equipment used for testing the mechs is very valuable and must not be damaged during the journey. Fortunately, the mechs have storage compartments inside.
When they finished, Jiang Cheng and the others were covered in sweat and dust.
However, Zhao Xuerou keenly noticed something.
Everyone who was supposed to go to the Arctic front is here, so why haven't we seen Adela and Wang Jingyu, who passed the test? It's as if they completely disappeared from that noon and have never been seen again.
She became increasingly confused, but could not find the answer.
After they loaded everything onto the truck, Jiang Cheng leaned against the car, gulped down a few mouthfuls of water, swallowed them, and then called out to Wan Xingyan, "Is Feng Yu ready?"
Upon hearing this, Wan Xingyan raised his right hand high and made a "completely OK" gesture.
Then, Jiang Cheng raised his head, his expression unchanged. But Zhan Ji seemed to have a telepathic connection with him, and slowly pulled out a huge platform from under the cockpit, at the heart in the chest. It was lit up with red light and looked as sophisticated as a small helipad.
This is a miracle.
Few people in the world know about the mental link between the brain-like entity and Jiang Cheng. In other words, the War Maiden is entirely his personal property. He can make her refuse to be piloted by anyone and perform many simple actions whenever he wants.
But to others, these scenes seem almost miraculous. There was no one sitting in the cockpit; he only needed to raise his eyes to lift the platform and close the hatch.
Technology can transform an unarmed, flesh-and-blood person into a god; this is one of the charms of technology.
What happened next was even more shocking. A deafening mechanical sound suddenly came from a distance. Looking in the direction of the sound, it turned out to be the Federal Headquarters building. Its middle section was slowly peeling away, revealing the interior: a pair of simple gray-black wings, a front end that was somewhat similar to human facial features, and a thing that looked like a mecha but was not a mecha, but rather resembled a bird.
