Chapter 24 Lin Zhaodi's Wedding

"Miss, are you sure you want to go up to such a high place?" After enduring a grueling and dizzying stretch of road, Bai Yueyue and Hu Meier finally arrived at the foot of a hill.

"Of course, after all, this place has the best view."

"So how should Miss get up?" After all, they are at the bottom of the mountain, and to get up, they have to go from the other side. It's also difficult for vehicles to drive in from this place. It's impossible to let Bai Yueyue climb the mountain.

Blinking, Bai Yueyue looked at Hu Meier with a puzzled expression, and reached out to take Hu Meier's hand: "You still know nothing about your young lady."

"ah?"

Before Hu Meier could react, Bai Yueyue had already flown her to the top of the mountain.

"Hey, I know a little about flying." Looking at Hu Meier, who was still in shock, Bai Yueyue used her magic to calm her down again.

"Young Miss, this is terrifying!" After all, no one has ever been able to fly, and being carried by someone is even more frightening.

"You'll get used to it." Perhaps because she was away from other people, Bai Yueyue seemed a little excited, and even forgot her manners.

Hu Meier could tell that Bai Yueyue was excited. As her personal attendant, she should help Bai Yueyue calm down, but it didn't matter. There was no one else here. In Hu Meier's heart, as long as the young lady was happy, that was all that mattered.

"Miss, are you sure you can see it from this far away?" Hu Meier couldn't help but ask, because they could indeed see the village they were going to, but it was still too far away to see the situation inside clearly.

"Of course! Magic? Synesthesia." Bai Yueyue gently tapped Hu Meier's forehead.

Then, when Hu Meier looked at the village again, her field of vision seemed to be magnified more than ten times, and she could see the situation inside the village clearly in an instant.

"Young Miss, what's this?"

"Hmm~ I used a little trick to make it possible for you to see into my field of vision."

"As expected of the young lady." Although this is unbelievable, since it was done by our young lady, it must be because our young lady is too amazing.

Unlike the relaxed atmosphere on Bai Yueyue's side, the other side was very lifeless.

This old bachelor is no good. He used to steal chickens and dogs when he was a kid. More than 20 years ago, he accidentally killed someone in a fight and was imprisoned. He was only recently released.

Before his parents passed away, they left him some money. The villagers were also afraid that he would cause trouble again, so they pooled their money to buy Lin Zhaodi from Lin's parents and marry her to him to protect them from disaster.

No one else wanted to help, but the village chief ordered everyone to come and help in order to keep the old bachelor in line, so they had no choice but to come reluctantly.

"Congratulations!" The village chief was all smiles. He had pocketed a portion of the money from selling Lin Zhaodi and the wedding gifts. He had done this countless times before and was already used to it.

"Oh my, the village chief is here! Come in, come in!" The old bachelor greeted the village chief with a smile as soon as he arrived.

"Haha, alright, where's the bride?" Looking around, the village chief didn't see Lin Zhaodi and asked with a frown. After all, he didn't trust this old bachelor and was worried that the other party would beat Lin Zhaodi to death.

He doesn't care what happens to Lin Zhaodi afterward, but he has to be there for her wedding.

"How could the village chief even be interested in this woman? She was being silly yesterday and fell on a wooden stick. Her old mother is putting makeup on her to cover up her ugliness."

"Fell on a wooden stick? That's a lame excuse," the village chief thought to himself, but he didn't care, as long as Lin Zhaodi wasn't dead.

"Okay, be careful. I used to miss home a lot and wanted to sneak back to see my family. It took me a lot of effort to appease them."

Understanding the village chief's unspoken meaning, the old bachelor smiled obsequiously and openly stuffed a red envelope into the village chief's pocket: "I'd appreciate it if you could keep an eye on this woman for me, Village Chief."

"No problem, no problem."

Inside the room, Lin's mother was applying makeup to Lin Zhaodi's scarred arms with a look of disgust, completely disregarding whether Lin Zhaodi was in pain.

"Hey, what's with that face you're making, you good-for-nothing? Do you know how hard it is to find you a marriage partner? Stop pretending! Don't give me that dead-face look." Lin's father, who had just finished his phone call, looked at Lin Zhaodi, who was as still as a dead lake, with annoyance. "I really don't know how you got targeted by the Bai family. That bitch even called to bother me."

"Keep your voice down," Lin's mother frowned. "Don't let anyone outside hear. What did you do with that bitch from the Bai family?"

"What else can we do? I've stopped answering their calls. Do you really think we can let them take this money-losing girl away? Once the wedding is over and everything is settled, even the Bai family will look down on her." Mr. Lin said irritably. His phone rang again. He looked at his phone and saw that it was Hu Meier calling again.

This time, he hung up the phone directly. He didn't believe the Bai family could find him so quickly. This kind of thing had happened in the village before. Anyway, once the deed was done, no one would care.

Lin Zhaodi, on the other hand, seemed deaf, staring blankly ahead like a puppet.

"Alright, go out." After covering Lin Zhaodi's wounds, Lin's mother suddenly pulled Lin Zhaodi up and covered her head with a piece of red cloth cut from somewhere.

From beginning to end, Lin Zhaodi was a puppet manipulated by others, without the slightest thought of resistance.

Those wills to resist had long been worn away by the scars on their bodies.

She was dragged out for the wedding ceremony, dressed only in a red dress. Nobody paid any attention to Lin Zhaodi. In their eyes, this was already commonplace. Weren't all the newcomers like this? They'd be fine after a few years.
