Chapter 47 is disturbing

"Brother Qin Zijin, this is the first time I've experienced something like this. Is there anything I need to do?" Bai Yueyue asked, as none of the books she had read told her what to do in this situation.

"All you need to do is sit here with me and supervise."

In other words, I don't have to do anything, right? That's somewhat acceptable, but wait, what is that?

"Brother Qin Zijin, what are they doing?" Bai Yueyue asked, looking at the group of people building something.

Why does it look so much like a head sensitivity tester?

"The guillotine," Qin Zijing replied matter-of-factly. "That's how people who attack the mayor's family are dealt with."

No, this kind of handling is terrifying! Why didn't anyone tell me I was here to supervise this?

Bai Yueyue knew she would see blood today, but in her mind, it would be at most a bullet or injection, not this horrific method. More importantly, Bai Yueyue knew clearly that there were elderly people and children among them.

Though inwardly terrified, Bai Yueyue outwardly used magic to calm herself. At this pinnacle, only she was truly panicked; Qin Zijing, his personal attendants, and even Hu Meier all considered it perfectly normal.

As Qin Zijing said, even the sentencing of crimes did not require Bai Yueyue's responsibility; instead, it was Pan Sheng, the next village chief appointed by Qin Zijing, who delivered the verdict.

However, the list of names read by Pan Sheng and their crimes were all determined by Bai Yueyue herself. From another perspective, this is equivalent to Bai Yueyue carrying out the execution.

They had many charges, but the two most important ones were assaulting the mayor's adopted daughter and disrespecting her. These were the fundamental reasons for their execution. Other charges, such as human trafficking, victim abuse, accepting bribes, and even organ trafficking, were merely added offenses and were casually sentenced.

As for the people brought up while their crimes were being read aloud, Bai Yueyue had already seen the village chief and Lin Zhaodi's parents among them. Their tongues had been cut out, so they couldn't even curse or argue back. Their lives were decided unilaterally by Bai Yueyue and her group, who were nobles.

Their eyes, which were initially filled with despair, turned venomous when they saw Bai Yueyue. Bai Yueyue didn't need to read minds to know their resentment towards her.

Faced with such uncomfortable gazes, Bai Yueyue simply used magic to calm herself down, allowing herself to look at them with indifferent eyes.

The innocent villagers who were saved by Bai Yueyue looked up under the intimidation of the army, listening to and watching their crimes and their fate.

Despite the absence of a cold wind, Bai Yueyue felt a chill. Seeing this, Hu Meier draped a shawl over Bai Yueyue's shoulders.

But the effect was minimal, because Bai Yueyue knew that the source of this chill was not the weather.

Then, under Bai Yueyue's gaze, head after head fell. As they fell, even the children stared intently at Bai Yueyue, cursing with their lips that could not utter a sound.

The stench of blood filled the air. Bai Yueyue thought she was fairly used to it, after all, she had seen monsters slaughter ordinary people before, but why was this time so unsettling?

Their bodies will remain at this site for a day, with no one allowed to collect them, after which they will be taken by designated personnel and thrown into the deep mountains to be eaten by wild animals.

Even after the execution, Bai Yueyue was still unable to leave. Although her body was beginning to feel unwell and her stomach acid was churning uncontrollably, making her feel nauseous several times, her identity allowed her to use magic to calm herself down as if nothing had happened.

Bai Yueyue stayed primarily because Pan Sheng needed to reiterate to the villagers the heinous nature of the dead and the gravity of their crimes, even implicating them. This would give the villagers, whose eyes had already lost their light, an outlet for their anger and resentment…

After all, they dared not, and were not allowed to, vent their inner emotions to Bai Yueyue.

Then, they would extoll how kind Bai Yueyue was, how hard she had worked for them, and how difficult it was for her to plead with the mayor on their behalf. They would also extoll the mayor's authority and tolerance, so that they would not dare to resist and would even be grateful to Bai Yueyue for sparing their lives.

In the blood-soaked environment, Bai Yueyue had to calmly accept Pan Sheng's uncomfortable praise.

Once everything was finished, Bai Yueyue bid farewell to Qin Zijin.

"Brother Qin Zijing, thank you for your help today." Although Qin Zijing did nothing and kept setting traps for Bai Yueyue, which she still disliked, simply sitting there and supervising with Bai Yueyue was a great help to her.

If it were just Bai Yueyue, she wouldn't know if she could hold on, and might even uncontrollably try to stop the guillotine when it appears, which could cause trouble for her and everyone else.

"As long as you understand what your identity means in the future, little sister Bai Yueyue," Qin Zijin said with a fake smile. Bai Yueyue knew that the other party found this kind of thing troublesome. "Father will be back tomorrow, and he specifically asked you to go and greet him."

"Yes, I understand."

After receiving Bai Yueyue's reply, Qin Zijin left by car, leaving only Bai Yueyue, Hu Meier, and Pan Sheng with a fawning expression.

"Young Miss, what are your plans next?" Hu Meier asked. As Bai Yueyue's personal attendant, she had already noticed Bai Yueyue's discomfort.

Bai Yueyue looked at Pan Sheng and calmly said, "Go back to the village now and gather all the people who have been trafficked or forcibly brought here. I will deal with them later."

"Yes, Lady Bai Yueyue." Pan Sheng clearly wanted to spend more time with Bai Yueyue in order to curry favor with her, but he was driven away by Hu Meier's gaze.

After confirming that Pan Sheng had left, Hu Meier immediately said, "Please forgive my overstepping, Miss."

"I forgive you..." Bai Yueyue's voice was weak, and she began to sway.

Because there might be other people around, Bai Yueyue used magic to make herself appear as normal as possible, and then followed Hu Meier to a place where no one would be around.

"Young Miss, Mei'er is waiting for you not far away." After saying this, Hu Mei'er left, keeping an eye on the surroundings from a distance of ten meters from Bai Yueyue to make sure that no one would see Bai Yueyue's next outburst.

Finally, her tense nerves began to relax, and even magic could not suppress her inner discomfort. She quickly threw off her veil and began to vomit.

Bai Yueyue knew that her current body was very sensitive to corpses and the smell of blood. However, even though the scene of someone killed by a monster was much more bloody and violent, Bai Yueyue would still feel uncomfortable and nauseous, but she would never feel like this.

Now, Bai Yueyue's mind is filled with those heads, each with a grotesque expression and filled with resentment towards her. She is completely unable to control the pain and discomfort in her body.

The physiological reactions that Bai Yueyue had suppressed with magic were now beginning to backfire and erupt completely: a deathly pale face, a pained expression, physical weakness, a bitter taste in the mouth, and tears in the corners of the eyes...

As a noblewoman, Bai Yueyue's current appearance is not allowed to be seen or known by anyone. Even her personal attendant, Hu Meier, must pretend not to know, and is not allowed to comfort Bai Yueyue at this time.
