Chapter 51 Zhou Qing

Zhou Qing ignored everyone else and went straight to Bai Yueyue.

"Hey, come here and get your medicine! Godfather, stop her!" Seeing Zhou Qing approaching, Bai Yueyue was already sweating profusely. She really didn't want to get involved with the imperial family.

"Lord Qin Limin, please prepare a private space for me and Lady Bai Yueyue so we can be undisturbed." Zhou Qing stood in front of Bai Yueyue, took her hand, and pulled her up.

"Yes, Lord Zhou Qing." With Qin Limin leading the way, Zhou Qing calmly pulled Bai Yueyue along behind, while Bai Yueyue looked completely bewildered. The three of them followed at the very back.

Qin Zijing was alright; she watched them leave with a smile typical of aristocrats, while Qin Ye was already seething with anger.

She's just an adopted daughter, so why does everyone care about her?

“Lord Zhou Qing, this is the study I used in my younger days. It’s very quiet and no one will disturb you,” Qin Limin said. “Yueyue should also behave herself and not be as willful as before, causing trouble for Lord Zhou Qing.”

"Yes, Godfather." He probably wants me to keep quiet so as not to cause trouble for everyone. Oh dear, why don't he trust me?

Bai Yueyue herself wasn't confident either. This was her first time facing strangers in the capital, and she didn't know anything about them.

"Alright, the rest of you can wait outside." Zhou Qing's attention was more focused on Bai Yueyue at the moment, leaving these words for his personal attendants.

"Mei'er, please wait for me outside." Although he really wanted to bring Hu Mei'er inside to calm himself down if he said something wrong, he couldn't, because even Qin Limin had tacitly approved of their private conversation.

Hu Meier was very worried, but she knew even more that she couldn't speak up and cause trouble for Bai Yueyue.

"Yes, Miss (Old Master Zhou)." The two's personal attendants spoke at the same time.

Following Zhou Qing, Bai Yueyue entered the room. Her personal attendant then turned on the lights, prepared a table, chairs, and tea for the two of them, completed the poison test, and helped them sit down before closing the door as she left.

Although Qin Limin said this was the room he used in the early days, it was still cleaned and tidy.

"Lady Bai Yueyue, what kind of tea do you like to drink?" Zhou Qing asked.

Huh? The old lady's words were beyond Bai Yueyue's expectations. Shouldn't she have started asking her about this power directly?

"Hmm~ Thanks to my mother's teachings, I've actually been exposed to a lot of teas, so it's really hard to choose one that I like," Bai Yueyue said.

Hmph, I've already remembered not to reveal my preferences to outsiders, so Mother, you should praise me later.

"I see. Since you are Lady Li Jieyue's child, you shouldn't dislike black tea." The old lady said, taking out a can of tea and handing it to Bai Yueyue.

"Lord Zhou Qing, Mother will be very angry if she finds out that I accepted your gift so rudely." Bai Yueyue hadn't prepared a gift and absolutely couldn't accept it easily, but she also couldn't refuse directly, so she could only use Li Jieyue's name to express her predicament.

"I'll tell Lady Li Jieyue," Zhou Qing said with a light laugh. "Lady Li Jieyue really likes my black tea."

Huh? Bai Yueyue blinked, momentarily forgetting to control her expression, revealing a puzzled look. After all, Zhou Qing's words had once again exceeded Bai Yueyue's expectations.

"Really? My mother didn't let me know." But only for a moment, Bai Yueyue regained her composure and asked, "Does Lord Zhou Qing know my mother?"

“Hehe, Lady Li Jieyue was my student when she was at the highest academy. Although she didn’t express her feelings back then and was engaged to the Emperor, she often came to my office to help me with materials and would take some tea with her.” Zhou Qing said.

Hmm, no wonder Mother came too. But does the Imperial Clan really send someone like her to gather information? Oh dear, Mother, how could you have so obviously revealed your preferences before!

"Then please, Lord Zhou Qing, hand it over to Mother personally! I am not yet an adult and not engaged, so many things still need Mother's decision for me." No matter what Zhou Qing said, Bai Yueyue would not accept it. She herself did not know what kind of information she would reveal, so it was best to leave everything to Li Jieyue.

"Oh dear, so Lady Bai Yueyue really isn't engaged?" Zhou Qing feigned surprise. "That's a real shame. I'll ask Lady Li Jieyue to pass it on to Lady Bai Yueyue."

Dear Mother, I'm so sorry, I think I accidentally revealed something, but please don't blame me.

For nobles, unmarried and underage women needed the consent of their elders for most things. After reaching adulthood, they would gain some autonomy from their elders, but more rights would be acquired after marriage.

Bai Yueyue's method of rejection is very common among aristocratic women, and it was taught to her by Li Jieyue, so there's no need to worry about it being known.

As for Zhou Qing, she was only using this question to verify the credibility of the information she had about Bai Yueyue.

"No wonder Lady Li Jieyue was willing to hide Lady Bai Yueyue away until she was almost an adult. After all, Lady Bai Yueyue is so adorable. If she were my granddaughter, I would hide her away too." Zhou Qing put away the tea leaves and adopted the demeanor of a kind old man.

So they've already investigated me. But does this mean they're complaining that Mother kept my information from the Imperial Clan?

Bai Yueyue already knew that the results of the investigation by the Imperial Clan were as Qin Zhenming had set out.
