Chapter 144 Whose photo is this?
"Go quickly, get Chu Rou home safely, and bring more people with you." Qiao Siying didn't care about inviting Mo Chi to stay for dinner; she just wanted Chu Rou to get home safely.
Mo Chi is gone.
Qiao Siying felt a tightness in her chest, but because Mo Yan and Yuan Qian were still there, she could only suppress her anger and avoid looking at Mo Anbang.
Yuan Qian was still in shock when Mo Yan beside her woke her up, saying, "Yuan Qian, Teacher Qiao is talking to you!"
"Huh?" Yuan Qian came back to her senses and looked at Qiao Siying. "Aunt Qiao, do you have Chu Rou's contact information? I'd like to be friends with her."
Mo Yan glanced at Mo Anbang, whose face had become even more gloomy, then lowered his eyes and did not stop Yuan Qian.
“I have it,” Qiao Siying said, taking out her phone and showing Yuan Qian Chu Rou’s contact information. “Rou Rou is a good friend and quite interesting. I’ll invite you two to go shopping together next time.”
“Okay!” Yuan Qian sent a friend request and waited for Chu Rou to accept.
Chu Rou and Mo Chi had already gotten into the car. When she received Yuan Qian's friend request, she was a little surprised. She asked Mo Chi, "Your sister-in-law added me as a friend. Should I accept?"
Mo Chi didn't hesitate, "Go ahead and add her. Your sister-in-law is a nice person; you can get to know her better."
With Mo Chi's approval, Chu Rou clicked the "agree" button.
"Rou Rou, thank you for today!" Mo Chi hugged Chu Rou and kissed the top of her head.
Chu Rou leaned on Mo Chi's shoulder, "Thank me for what?"
"Thank you for helping my mother. She gets so angry that she cries every time she encounters that old bitch. She can't win an argument with her."
Mo Chi got angry just thinking about it; that old bitch always deliberately provoked his mother.
His mother couldn't beat him or scold him, so she went home and complained. His father couldn't control him either, so he would just coax him and it would all be over.
Today, Chu Rou finally got revenge for his mother.
"There's nothing to thank me for. Your mother is my mother too. How could I let anyone bully her!"
Chu Rou sighed, "But I've really offended your father today."
"I don't even know how they'll make things difficult for me at work!"
"It's alright, I'm here!" Mo Chi said with a smile. "Besides, you've already won over my mom, my dad wouldn't dare do anything to you."
"Where can I get her?" Chu Rou said with a worried expression. "She doesn't know about our relationship yet. If she knew I married you, I wonder if she would treat me like an enemy."
"No, my mom might be secretly happy!" Mo Chi comforted her.
Hopefully so! Chu Rou wasn't very confident and could only take it one step at a time.
At Xiangyun Apartment, Chu Rou and Mo Chi walked out of the elevator hand in hand and found someone standing at their door.
It was a man, wearing sunglasses and a mask, standing against the wall.
Mo Chi and Chu Rou walked over and took a closer look. "Brother Qi?"
Qi Hang straightened up. "You're back! Open the door quickly, I'm tired of standing."
Mo Chi stood still. "Brother Qi, you've come to the wrong place!"
"You guys haven't eaten yet, have you? I haven't either," Qi Hang said, taking off his sunglasses. The swelling around his eyes had gone down, but they were still bruised. He looked at Chu Rou and said, "Chu Rou, you beat me up like this, it's not too much to ask you to treat me to a meal!"
Chu Rou covered her mouth with her hand and coughed, glancing at Mo Chi. Whether or not Qi Hang would be allowed to enter depended on her son Mo Bao's opinion.
Qi Hang wanted to frown, but the wound around his eye was being pulled painfully, so he could only relax his brows and look at Mo Chi again, "I heard from Qi Lin about Chu Rou's heroic deeds today. I haven't let go of the bodyguards that Jiang Simin brought with me yet!"
Mo Chi opened the door and invited Qi Hang inside.
Chu Rou has now completely angered Mo Yuan and Jiang Simin. Mo Chi is capable of protecting her, but it would be safer if Qi Hang could lend a hand.
After Chu Rou went inside, she casually tossed her bag onto the sofa and then asked Qi Hang and Mo Chi, "What do you want to eat tonight? I'll make it."
Qi Hang also took off his mask. He opened his mouth, his lips still a little sore, and he spoke a beat slower than Mo Chi.
"Just boil the noodles in plain water."
The simplest way is to cook noodles; you can eat them as long as the inkstone is cooked.
"Boiled noodles in plain water?" Qi Hang glanced sideways at Mo Chi. "Not even a hint of saltiness?"
"If you like strong flavors, I can pour some soy sauce on you," Mo Chi suggested to Qi Hang.
Qi Hang sat on the sofa, crossed his legs, and said, "Fine, if you can eat, then I can eat too."
Chu Rou turned and went to the kitchen. Of course, she couldn't just cook plain noodles; she couldn't eat them herself.
She opened the refrigerator and saw a small bunch of scallions inside. She decided to make scallion oil noodles, which was also very simple.
The noodles were cooked, the scallion oil was ready, and Chu Rou also fried three eggs.
She ladled out two large bowls of noodles, poured on some scallion oil, added a poached egg, and carried them out.
"The noodles are ready, come and eat!"
Mo Chi and Qi Hang walked to the dining table and sat down.
The aroma was enticing. Qi Hang looked down and saw that it was scallion oil noodles with an egg added.
Chu Rou brought out another small bowl of noodles and handed chopsticks to Mo Chi and Qi Hang, saying, "Mix it yourself."
After mixing it well, Qi Hang took a bite and nodded, "Delicious. I didn't expect Chu Rou to be such a good cook."
Mo Chi disliked Qi Hang for talking too much, "Brother Qi, hurry up and eat, then leave quickly and don't disturb Rou Rou and me from resting."
"My mouth hurts, so I can't open it. I can only eat slowly," Qi Hang said as he ate his noodles.
After finishing the noodles, Mo Chi started urging everyone to leave again, but Qi Hang sat back down on the sofa. "I'm too full to walk. I need to digest before going back."
Mo Chi ignored him and accompanied Chu Rou to wash the dishes.
Qi Hang had indeed eaten too much. Chu Rou's scallion oil noodles were really delicious. A woman like that, who is both elegant in public and skilled in the kitchen, is truly the perfect marriage partner.
As he relaxed, he casually placed his hand on the sofa, knocking over Chu Rou's bag, causing many items to roll out.
Qi Hang picked up the items one by one and put them back. When he picked up his wallet, a photo fell out.
It looks like a photo of a man. Could it be Mo Chi?
Qi Hang scoffed, picked up the photo, glanced at it, then paused, staring intently at the photo in his hand.
This is a two-inch ID photo. The man in the photo has a buzz cut, a slight upturn at the corners of his mouth, and is wearing a military uniform.
Qi Hang's mind raced. Chu Rou's father was a martyr who went missing during a flood relief effort.
His father had no home, was an orphan, and lost his memories of the first twenty-four years of his life.
Two clues swirled in Qi Hang's mind, eventually connecting because of the photo in his hand.
Qi Hang felt as if his throat was being choked, and he experienced a brief difficulty breathing.
The vibration of his phone broke the barrier that had been trapping Qi Hang. He exhaled, put the photo in his pocket, and took out his phone to answer the call.
He weakly uttered a "hello".
The words spoken on the other end of the phone roused Qi Hang again: "Young Master Qi, we've found the driver who hit the young lady."
