Chapter 170 Reunited with Chu Rou, how should he address her?
Chu Rou blinked. She felt like her father was talking about someone else. She tentatively asked, "Dad, I heard Mom say that you used to be extremely filial, even blindly so."
Qi Wende glanced at Chu Rou, his eyes softening. "Dad only remembers your mother. He hasn't thought of any other people or things yet, but I've already met that mother and son."
Qi Wende paused for a moment, then said, "I am not her biological son."
“I knew it,” Chu Rou said excitedly, slapping her thigh. “My dad is so handsome, how could he have such an ugly younger brother as Chu Mingjie?”
"That beast tried to take advantage of me, but luckily I'm good at martial arts and he didn't touch me. He's disgusting."
After hearing this, Qi Wende's eyes were filled with icy coldness.
This man is a menace in life.
Qi Wende stayed with Chu Rou at the hospital, reluctant to leave. Chu Rou told him everything she could remember.
After hearing about his eldest daughter's glorious deeds, Qi Wende had a smile on his face the whole time; today was probably the day he smiled the most.
Chu Rou's cheerful and optimistic nature helped Qi Wende gradually let go of his burdens. He and Chu Rou didn't seem like they were meeting for the first time, but rather like friends who had known each other for many years.
Qi Wende felt grateful to Shi Jingman for raising such a good daughter.
After Chu Rou finished telling her own story, she inquired about Qi Wende's experiences over the past twenty years.
“If Aunt Qi hadn’t hidden you, maybe you could have found your home and been with your mother.”
Chu Rou felt conflicted. It was Qi Feiyao's deception and obstruction that caused her family to fall apart, so it would be a lie to say she didn't blame Qi Feiyao.
She sighed, "But on the other hand, if you had been with Mom, there wouldn't be Shen Luo, and I wouldn't have met Mo Chi."
"Given how filial you were before, Mom would definitely have been bullied by that old hag, and you two might have gotten divorced long ago."
Qi Wende hadn't thought that far ahead. After listening to Chu Rou's analysis, he felt it made a lot of sense, and perhaps it was all predestined.
...
Qi Lin ran out of the hospital, her mind completely blank!
Why was his father hugging Sister Chu Rou?
She walked absentmindedly down the street, followed closely by two cars, each filled with her bodyguards.
Tired from walking, she looked up and saw a bar that seemed to belong to her family, but it wasn't open yet. Qi Lin ignored it and went over to knock on the door.
The bodyguards behind them got out of the car and helped knock on the door.
The duty manager opened the door from the inside, still half asleep. "Miss, we only open at night!"
Qi Lin pushed the duty manager aside, "I'm going inside to have a drink, you go to sleep!"
"Huh?" The duty manager was dumbfounded. What was going on? Why were there such uninvited guests?
The bodyguard behind her explained, "This is Miss Qi!"
"Miss Qi?" The duty manager immediately perked up and quickly stepped aside to let them in.
Qi Lin found a place to sit down, asked the duty manager to bring her a bottle of foreign liquor, and poured herself a drink.
She drank and cried at the same time. The bodyguards looked at each other and felt that this couldn't go on, so one of them called Qi Hang.
Half an hour later, Qi Hang arrived.
He sat opposite Qi Lin and saw her face covered in tears and snot. He threw a tissue at her with disgust and said, "Wipe your face clean!"
Qi Lin blew her nose clean. "Brother, what brings you here?"
"What's wrong with you? Did you break up with your boyfriend?" Qi Hang had never seen Qi Lin like this before, and asked, guessing.
"I've never even been in a relationship, what's the point of heartbreak?" Qi Lin covered her face and started crying again.
Qi Hang's head was buzzing. "Then why are you crying? Our family is all alive and well."
“Things will never get better,” Qi Lin cried out. “Our family is finished.”
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Qi Hang tapped Qi Lin's head with his finger.
Qi Lin had almost finished crying, and the ground around her was littered with tissues she had used to wipe her nose.
She sniffed, her eyes red as she looked at Qi Hang, "Our dad and Sister Chu Rou, they..."
Qi Lin couldn't bring herself to say it.
"They recognized each other?" Qi Hang asked calmly.
"Hmm, hmm?" Qi Lin looked puzzled. "What recognition?"
Qi Hang crossed his arms. "Chu Rou is our half-sister."
"Huh?" Qi Lin's eyes widened, and she tapped her head, wondering if she had misread it. How could she suspect that Sister Chu Rou and her father were having an affair?
"What did you see that made you cry like that?" Qi Hang asked, puzzled.
Qi Lin smacked her lips and whispered, "I thought Sister Chu Rou was going to be my stepmother."
Qi Hang rolled his eyes at her. "You don't understand Chu Rou at all. She seems more interested in her younger brother. Mo Chi is almost five years younger than her!"
"Although Dad is handsome, he seems to be a little less so than Mo Chi. After all, he's getting old."
Wait! Qi Lin stood up. "If Sister Chu Rou is our older sister, then Aunt Shi is Dad's ex-wife?"
"Will Dad and Aunt Shi get back together? What about Mom? What about us?"
Qi Hang fell silent. His father hadn't mentioned this issue before. "It shouldn't be like that. Aunt Shi has Uncle Shen, and there's also Shen Luo."
Qi Lin sat down again. "Yes, that makes sense."
"Sister Chu Rou is actually my own sister. No wonder I like her so much."
Qi Lin smiled as she thought about it, then stood up again. "I'm going to find my sister!"
Qi Hang glanced at Qi Lin sideways. This girl changed her address quite smoothly. He sighed inwardly. How should he address Chu Rou when he saw her again? Should he also call her "sister"?
Qi Wende left in the afternoon because he had something to do, but said he would come back after he finished.
Chu Rou was the only one left in the ward. The reunion with her family today was so sudden that it felt unreal.
I wonder how her mother will react when she finds out her father is still alive.
Thinking of this, she took out her phone and dialed Shi Jingman's number.
Shi Jingman answered quickly, her tone cheerful, "Rou Rou, are you at work? How come you have time to call me?"
Chu Rou was injured and hospitalized but did not tell Shi Jingman, for fear of worrying her.
"Mom, I miss you."
Chu Rou's voice choked with emotion. She had talked a lot about the past with Qi Wende today, which brought back many sad memories. She really missed Shi Jingman. She had been in B City for a long time and hadn't been back yet.
"Mom misses you too. When are you coming back? If you don't have time, Mom can come to see you." Shi Jingman was also moved to tears by Chu Rou's emotions.
Chu Rou cried too much today. If she keeps crying, her eyes will turn into big red peaches tomorrow.
She rubbed her nose. "After I'm done with this busy period, I'll go back with Mo Chi."
"Okay, okay!" Shi Jingman said with a smile, "Be sure to tell me in advance so Mom can cook a few more of your favorite dishes."
Chu Rou hummed in agreement. After a moment's hesitation, she slowly asked, "Mom, what would you do if Dad suddenly appeared one day?"
