Chapter 18 Ink Treasure, I'm so scared!
Shen Luo also pondered Chu Rou's words, "Then should I take the initiative to hold her hand tomorrow?"
Chu Rou smiled and nodded, "Go ahead and try. At worst, you'll just get slapped."
Shen Luo's face fell; he knew his sister couldn't say anything serious.
Mo Chi touched his face. His delicate face would probably swell up if it got hit, so he decided against it.
...
For the next few days, Chu Rou was kept behind to work overtime, sometimes early and sometimes late. Every time she got off work, she would send a message in the small group chat, and Mo Chi would tacitly wait for Chu Rou downstairs every night.
On Friday night, Chu Rou got off work after nine o'clock. Mo Chi calculated the time and went downstairs to pick her up five minutes early.
Mo Chi waited downstairs for ten minutes, but Chu Rou's car still hadn't arrived, so he called Chu Rou.
Chu Rou answered quickly, "Mo Baobao, were you getting impatient? I have some things to take care of here, so I might be back a little late."
Mo Chi wanted to ask her what she was doing, but then he heard several men's voices coming from the phone.
"You bitch, I've been following you for days, and you think you can just beat me up and act like nothing happened?"
"Get down here right now, or you can forget about this car."
"You bitch, if you know what's good for you, spend the night with us, kowtow to Brother Wang and apologize, and this will be over!"
Chu Rou hung up the phone and looked at the several men standing in front of the car. She only recognized one of them, the crew-cut man she had beaten up.
Damn it, she didn't expect to be stuck on a small road.
Chu Rou realized something was wrong and immediately called the police.
I don't know if she can hold out until the police arrive. These men are all carrying iron bars and they're forcing her to get out of the car.
If she were unarmed, she might have a chance of winning, but her opponent had a weapon. If she got hit with a stick, a broken bone would be the least of her worries.
She didn't want her beautiful face to be ruined.
Chu Rou touched the area under the car seat; she also had a stick, though it was just a wooden stick, not in the same league, but it could still hold her off for a while.
She gripped the wooden stick tightly in her hand, staring anxiously at the men in front of the car, waiting for the police to arrive.
The man outside the car grew impatient and started banging on the car window with an iron bar.
Chu Rou's heart was bleeding; the car repairs would cost her a lot of money.
But life is more important.
The windshield has already been cracked; it will shatter if it's hit a few more times. It would be dangerous to wait in the car.
Chu Rou unlocked the car, pushed open the door, and as soon as she stepped out, several men surrounded her.
A man reached out to grab Chu Rou, but Chu Rou used the stick in her hand to poke the man in the ribs, causing him to pull his hand back in pain.
"You bitch, you dare to lay a hand on me? I'll make you pay today!"
Chu Rou was about to take a gamble when a car approached from the opposite direction, its high beams shining down. Chu Rou and several men simultaneously shielded their eyes from the blinding light.
Before Chu Rou's eyes could adjust to the light, she heard a pitiful scream beside her.
Chu Rou squinted and looked over. Mo Chi stood in front of her like a god, holding an iron baseball bat in his hand.
"Rou Rou, are you alright?" Mo Chi looked Chu Rou up and down.
"Mo Bao," Chu Rou cried, throwing herself into Mo Chi's arms, "I was so scared!"
The people on the ground got up, saying, "Where did this brat come from, daring to launch a sneak attack?"
Mo Chi, with Chu Rou in his arms, coldly looked at the men and said, "I'll give you a chance to run. The police car is right behind me."
The men exchanged glances, deciding that as long as they survived, they could always make a comeback, so they made their escape.
In the blink of an eye, everyone had disappeared.
Chu Rou looked up and asked, "Mo Bao, the police are coming soon, why are you still attacking?"
Chu Rou simplified her address for Mo Chi from "Mo Bao Bao" to "Mo Bao" because she found it too much of a hassle to say three words.
"I was lying to them, let's hurry up and go!" Mo Chi put his arm around Chu Rou and got into his car.
"What am I going to do with my car?" Chu Rou looked at her windshield with heartache.
Mo Chi stepped on the gas and left the narrow road.
Once they were on the main road, Mo Chi finally spoke, "Give me your car, I'll take it for repairs tomorrow."
Chu Rou nodded, remaining silent the entire way; she was genuinely a little scared today.
Back home, Chu Rou sat on the sofa in a daze.
Mo Chi sat down beside her and patted her head. "Don't be afraid, it's all over now."
Chu Rou came to her senses and looked at Mo Chi gratefully, "Mo Bao, thank you so much for today. I should have prepared two solid iron bars to put in the car."
"If I hadn't been missing the right equipment today, I would have taken them down long ago. Poor windshield, I'll have to spend over a thousand dollars to replace the glass."
Mo Chi's hand paused. This was not what he had expected. Shouldn't he repay such a life-saving debt with his body?
They should at least give each other a kiss!
Chu Rou spoke for a long time, but Mo Chi did not respond. She noticed that he was in a daze.
Chu Rou waved her hand in front of Mo Chi's eyes, "Mo Bao, wake up, have you had dinner tonight?"
These past few days, Mo Chi has been waiting for Chu Rou to come back so she can cook for him.
Mo Chi snapped out of his reverie and shook his head. "I haven't eaten yet, I'm so hungry!"
"Where's Xiao Luo? Did he go on another date?" Chu Rou realized that someone was missing from the house.
Mo Chi nodded. "He said he's going to treat the girl to a big meal today."
Chu Rou asked curiously, "Mo Bao, do you know that girl? What's she like? Is she pretty?"
Mo Chi pondered Chu Rou's question seriously. "She's from our department, not as pretty as you, and I don't know anything else about her."
Hearing Mo Chi's answer, Chu Rou chuckled, "There aren't many girls prettier than me."
Chu Rou stood up and went to the kitchen to see what was available to eat. She finally found a bag of frozen dumplings in the refrigerator. She glanced at them and saw that they were filled with beef, which Mo Chi could eat.
"Mo Bao, is it okay to cook dumplings?"
Mo Chi walked to the kitchen door, saw that the dumplings were filled with beef, and reluctantly accepted them.
While cooking dumplings, Chu Rou said to Mo Chi, "You really are a spoiled young master. You'd rather go hungry than cook anything. Can't you even cook dumplings?"
"No!" Mo Chi replied, "I only know how to make instant noodles."
Chu Rou thought that Mo Chi could easily take out 1.5 million yuan, so his family must be rich. He was probably a rich young master who didn't have to lift a finger.
Chu Rou resigned herself to her fate and worked. There was nothing she could do; she was short of money.
Just as the dumplings were served, Shen Luo opened the door and came in.
"There are dumplings to eat! I'm really hungry."
Chu Rou glanced at him sideways, "Aren't you going out for a big meal tonight? Why are you still saying you're hungry?"
Shen Luo sighed, "Western food is too expensive, so I didn't dare to eat much."
Shen Luo tried to pick up a dumpling with her hand, but Chu Rou slapped it away forcefully. "This plate is for Mo Bao. He hasn't eaten a single bite of dinner yet. Don't take it from him."
Chu Rou turned and went to the kitchen, where she cooked another bag of dumplings for Shen Luo, with a three-ingredient filling.
As Shen Luo ate her dumplings, she sighed, "My sister still loves me the most; there are always dumplings for me when I come back."
"By the way, Mo Chi, Ye Xia wants to ask you to go out and have fun tomorrow."
Chu Rou asked, "Who is Ye Xia?"
