Chapter 186 She could chop me up in the middle of the night
Qi Wende hung his head. This was the most embarrassing moment of his life. Shi Jingman's words were like dull knives, sharp and painful.
Shi Jingman pulled Shen Minghui to his feet. "I've said everything I needed to say. Rou Rou's wedding is approaching, and we may meet again. I hope that next time we meet, we can act like strangers."
"Rou Rou," Shi Jingman instructed Chu Rou again, "you should spend these next few days with your father, take him around City C, and reminisce about the past. Your Uncle Chen and I are leaving now."
"Okay, Mom!"
Chu Rou saw Shi Jingman and Shen Minghui to the door.
She returned to Qi Wende's side and saw that he was still hanging his head. "Dad, are you alright?"
Qi Wende shook his head. "It's nothing. I just feel so sorry for your mother. She's right. I've been too complacent with my current life, so I haven't made a conscious effort to try and regain my memories."
"Sigh!" Qi Wende sighed, "It's just a kind of escapist mentality."
Chu Rou was silent for a few seconds, then comforted her, "A normal person would have the same thoughts as you. With a good living environment, who would want to go back to an unsatisfactory life from the past!"
She patted Qi Wende on the shoulder, "Don't be sad, you should be secretly happy. Your mother has Uncle Shen by her side, otherwise I would be worried to death for you. How can you choose between two women? You can't marry them both!"
Qi Wende shook his head with a wry smile, "With your mother's personality, she could chop me up in the middle of the night."
Chu Rou grinned, "My mom is really capable of doing things. She's gentle on the outside but strong on the inside, so please don't bother her anymore. It's better for both her and Aunt Qi."
Qi Wende nodded.
"Dad, I'll stay in City C for a few more days until Mo Chi and the others arrive. Do you want to stay and explore the city or go back to City B?"

After escorting Chu Rou to the Shen family's building, Qi Wende left alone.
Chu Rou went upstairs, opened the door, and went inside.
A chattering sound came from inside, and Chu Rou knew immediately that Huang Shan had arrived.
Chu Rou changed her shoes and walked into the living room. The living room fell silent instantly, and the four people stared at her in a daze.
Chu Rou blinked. "What, you don't recognize me anymore?"
Shen Yan coughed, pressing his fist to his lips. "Xiao Rou, you came back by yourself. Where are my dad and Aunt Shi?"
"They haven't come back?" Chu Rou asked, somewhat surprised. "They left first."
Shen Luo jumped to her feet. "Mom isn't thinking of doing something rash, is she?!"
Chu Rou shot Shen Luo a sharp look, and Shen Luo shut up.
"Mom is fine, she has a great attitude."
That's what she said, but Chu Rou was still a little worried, so she took out her phone and called Shi Jingman, but no one answered.
"Xiao Luo, why don't you call Uncle Chen and ask him?"
Shen Luo called Shen Minghui, but no one answered after a long time.
"Sis, my dad isn't answering the phone!"
Chu Rou sat on the sofa, her brows furrowed. Recalling the way her mother and Uncle Shen left, they seemed quite normal, so nothing should happen.
"Maybe their phone was in their pocket and they didn't hear us. Let's wait a little longer."

Chu Rou gave Huang Shan a look, wanting to ask her how things were going between the two of them.
Huang Shan was dejected, her tone low, "The same as always, nothing has changed."
Chu Rou was helpless. If this dragged on, when would it end? Huang Shan wasn't worried, but Chu Rou was getting anxious.
Huang Shan and Qu Jie pulled Chu Rou aside and asked her about her situation in City B and how she found her biological father.
Chu Rou gave a brief account of her experiences in City B.
They were very happy to learn that Mo Chi's parents would be coming over in the next couple of days.
"We'll all be having dinner together then, Shanshan, you absolutely have to come," Chu Rou said, holding Huang Shan's hand.
"Huh?" Huang Shan hesitated. "Is it really appropriate for me to go? It's a meeting between the families of both sides."
Chu Rou glanced at Shen Yan and then said, "You should be Shen Yan's girlfriend. Otherwise, it's pitiful for him to be a single dog all by himself."
Shen Yan raised his eyes and glanced at Chu Rou, then at Huang Shan, frowned, and said nothing.
Chu Rou smiled and said, "You see, Brother Shen Yan has already tacitly agreed. He's just too embarrassed to say it."

Time passed slowly, and Chu Rou began to become absent-minded. Lunchtime had passed, and her mother and Uncle Shen still hadn't returned.
Shen Luo also craned her neck to look out the window.
Shen Yan started checking his watch frequently.
"Why don't we go out and look for them?" Shen Yan stood up.
Chu Rou nodded; she couldn't wait any longer.
Several people headed to the door to change their shoes, preparing to go out and look for someone.
The door opened, and Shi Jingman and Shen Minghui stood in the doorway.
"Oh! What brings you all here!" Shi Jingman said with a smile, her face flushed.
Chu Rou and the others all breathed a sigh of relief.
"Mom, Uncle Chen, where did you go? You weren't answering your phone. We thought you were lost and were just about to go out to look for you!"
Shi Jingman walked over and hugged Chu Rou. "Rou Rou, I'm so happy you didn't go to keep your deadbeat dad company. Haha, don't you think you love your mom the most?"

"Mom, have you been drinking?" Chu Rou smelled alcohol on Shi Jingman.
“Yes, I drank it. Your Uncle Chen took me to eat a couple's set meal, and the two of us drank a bottle of red wine,” Shi Jingman said with a smile. “Mom is happy today, especially happy. I can finally erase your father from my memory.”
