Chapter 27 I will never shed a tear for him again.
“Yes,” Chu Rou noticed that Mo Chi’s eyes were dark and her face was pale. She pulled Mo Chi down and sat her down next to her. “Why didn’t you say goodbye before you went out? You look so weak. What if you fainted outside?”
Chu Rou whispered in Mo Chi's ear, and the budding hope in his heart that he had just broken was showing signs of revival. He smiled and asked, "So concerned about me?"
“Of course,” Chu Rou patted his shoulder, “It’s my responsibility to take good care of you.”
Have you had dinner yet?
Mo Chi shook his head. "I didn't eat."
Chu Rou frowned. "You haven't eaten all day? You can't not eat if you're afraid of getting diarrhea. Shen Luo and I had some porridge tonight and we're fine now."
She stood up and walked towards the kitchen. "There's some porridge left. I'll heat it up for you."
Chen Luo drank all the apple sweet soup that Chu Rou cooked in the afternoon.
She took out an apple, peeled and chopped it into pieces, put it in water, and boiled a pot of sweet water.
The porridge heats up quickly. Chu Rou brought out a bowl of porridge and a small dish of pickled vegetables, calling to Mo Chi, "Come and drink the porridge, the temperature is just right."
Mo Chi smiled and walked over to sit down. He pulled Chu Rou, who was about to leave, and said, "Sit down too and eat with me."
Chu Rou smiled and said, "There's still some apple sweet soup simmering in the pot. It'll be ready soon. I'll go get you a bowl."
Mo Chi let go of Chu Rou's hand, watching her departing figure, his heart sweeter than honey.
Before long, Chu Rou placed the apple juice in front of Mo Chi. "It's sweet and sour, which can relieve diarrhea and replenish electrolytes. Most importantly, it tastes great."
Mo Chi took a sip with a spoon and said, "It really tastes good."
Chu Rou sat at the dining table, resting her chin on her hand, watching Mo Chi eat porridge and sweet soup, her eyelids feeling a little heavy.
After finishing the last sip of sweet water, Mo Chi looked up and found Chu Rou sitting there, almost asleep.
He stood up, and the sound of the chair waking Chu Rou.
"You've finished eating."
Chu Rou stood up to take the bowl to the kitchen, but Mo Chi held her hand and said, "Wash it tomorrow, go to sleep first."
Mo Chi took Chu Rou's hand and led her to the room door, reluctantly letting go. "Go in!"
Chu Rou yawned, "Okay, goodnight, Mo Bao."
Chu Rou pushed open the door and went in, but Mo Chi called out to her again, "You... still like He Wei?"
Chu Rou was taken aback by the question. Sure enough, Mo Chi was unhappy because of this. She said solemnly, "After all, we were together for five years. It would be a lie to say that I have no feelings for him anymore, but I will try my best to let him go."
"Don't worry, I will never go back to an old flame."
Chu Rou raised her head and stared at Mo Chi, then said with determination, "From now on, I will never shed a single tear for him again."
Mo Chi's gaze was deep as he met Chu Rou's eyes. After a moment, he said, "Remember what you said today."
...
Monday, another day for school or work.
Chu Rou felt that she was about 70-80% better and could still go to work, so she didn't ask for leave.
Mo Chi and Shen Luo were young and strong, so they recovered faster. After waking up, they were full of energy.
Chu Rou's car was still under repair, so Mo Chi offered to drive her to work.
"Really?" Chu Rou was very happy that she didn't have to squeeze onto the subway. "My Mo Bao is still the most considerate person."
Shen Luo scratched his head. "Then what should I do?"
Chu Rou glanced at him sideways, "Without calligraphy, you wouldn't be able to go to school?"
"Yes, I will, but it's a little strange. We've always been inseparable," Shen Luo explained.
Chu Rou scoffed, "That's why neither of you has a girlfriend. No one else can get between you two."
Shen Luo thought it made sense, "So it was the Ink Pond that blocked my peach blossom luck!"
Shen Luo walked to the school alone and met Ye Xia at the entrance of the teaching building.
"Ye Xia, did anything happen to you that night?" Shen Luo asked, leaning closer.
Ye Xia looked ashamed and indignant. "Don't you know whether I'm in trouble or not?"
"I asked you because I didn't know," Shen Luo said, looking puzzled. "Why are you so angry?"
After what happened at Zhuoling Manor, Shen Luo's feelings for Ye Xia faded considerably. When he saw her, he would ask her a question only out of a sense of responsibility, since it was he who had taken Ye Xia out to play.
Seeing Shen Luo's reaction, Ye Xia seemed genuinely unaware of the alleged incest, so she softened her tone, saying, "I was locked up in another place that day, and I was terrified, which is why I was a little agitated."
Shen Luo nodded. "It was indeed quite frightening. I didn't expect something like this to happen, but thankfully everyone is alright."
"Are your sister and Mo Chi alright?" Ye Xia looked behind Chen Luo and, not seeing Mo Chi, asked, "Isn't Mo Chi with you?"
"They're all fine. Mo Chi took my sister to the company and will be here a little later." Shen Luo wasn't in the mood for chatting with Ye Xia and walked into the teaching building. "I'm going to the classroom first."
After saying that, Shen Luo strode away without waiting for Ye Xia.
Ye Xia frowned, bit her lower lip, and complained to herself: It's all Shen Luo's sister's fault. If it weren't for her, Shen Luo wouldn't have treated me like this. If it weren't for her, I might still have a chance to get close to Mo Chi.
Ye Xia has made a lot of money in nightclubs over the past two years, but working in nightclubs is not a long-term solution, and she needs to plan for her future.
Having grown accustomed to a life of extravagant spending, she couldn't accept returning to her previous frugal lifestyle, so she wanted to find a wealthy boyfriend.
After observing for a long time, she felt that Mo Chi was the most suitable. He was tall, handsome, and had a good sense of style. Even though he was low-key, she could tell that he was a rich man.
But such a good candidate was snatched away by Chu Rou. An old woman trying to eat young grass, humph!
Ye Xia was preoccupied with figuring out how to get her hands on the Ink Pool when she didn't see the person walking towards her and bumped into them.
"Ouch!" Huang Shan stumbled from the impact, but luckily Qu Jie caught her.
Ye Xia herself lost her balance and took two steps back. When she looked up, she saw Huang Shan and Qu Jie. She frowned. These two were known at school as not to be trifled with.
"Sorry, I was thinking about something and didn't notice you," Ye Xia said, putting on a concerned expression. "Did you get hurt?"
Huang Shan rubbed her shoulder and glanced at Ye Xia sideways. "Oh, it's the beautiful Ye Xia. Why are you walking so carelessly?"
"I'm so sorry!" Ye Xia apologized again and left in a hurry.
Huang Shan scoffed and said to Qu Jie, "Did you see what she was wearing?"
Qu Jie smoothed her short hair, glanced back at Ye Xia as she left with her almond-shaped eyes, and asked in confusion, "What happened to her clothes?"
"It's more expensive than my clothes!" Huang Shan pouted. "My mom gives me 50,000 yuan a month for pocket money, but I can only afford clothes that cost two or three thousand yuan."
"Ye Xia's clothes cost at least five thousand yuan, but I heard that her parents are just ordinary workers in a fifth-tier city. How can she afford such expensive clothes?"
