Chapter 274 If there's a next time, I won't be so lenient with him.

Chapter 274 If there's a next time, I won't be so lenient with him.

Deng Qian stared at the diamond ring in front of her, her heart shattered by this symbol of eternity.

He Wei still didn't give up on Chu Rou, even though they had already consummated their marriage, he still thought about Chu Rou.

She pressed her fist against her forehead, feeling as if all the strength had been drained from her body. Deng Qian's heart ached so much that her body went limp.

“He Wei is your husband. You have the ability to let him marry into the Deng family, but don’t you have the ability to control him?” Mo Chi asked coldly.

Mo Chi's words made Deng Qian's face burn. She was incompetent, lacking any womanly skills. She could only use benefits to keep He Wei by his side, but she couldn't control his heart at all.

"I'm sorry," Deng Qian said, putting away the diamond ring. "I'll try to persuade him not to cause any more trouble for you and Chu Routian."

Mo Chi snorted coldly and stood up. "It had better be that way. If there's a next time, I won't be polite to him. My patience has its limits."

Mo Chi left, and Deng Qian slumped in her chair, pressing her temples, her head aching!

Logically speaking, after several months of psychological therapy, she should understand He Wei quite well; his feelings for Chu Rou were more of an obsession.

Unable to obtain what you love, yet unwilling to let go; unable to obtain what you desire, yet resentful of loss.

When he was with Chu Rou, he felt inferior. He knew that his personality and psychology were not sound, while Chu Rou was perfect in his eyes. He regarded her as sacred. He had physical needs and would rather touch He Yin, who disgusted him, than touch Chu Rou. He felt that venting his desires on Chu Rou was a defilement.

His desire to formally marry Chu Rou after their wedding was a sign of respect for her.

He Wei was also arrogant. He thought he had everything under control, but he overlooked He Yin's greed. One careless step led to the complete loss.

He Wei sought her medical help and didn't hide anything from her, treating her only as a doctor and confiding all his innermost thoughts to her.

If she hadn't proposed a marriage of convenience, she and He Wei would never have had any emotional connection. No man would peel back the layers of his heart and reveal his true self to a woman.

Deng Qian knew that with just one word from Chu Rou, He Wei could immediately divorce her.

She knew He Wei didn't like her, but she still wanted to keep him by her side. Deng Qian patted her head; she could comfort patients, but she couldn't save herself from being love-struck.

Deng Qian opened the jewelry box and took out the diamond ring. He Wei really went all out.

They had a prenuptial agreement before getting married. He Wei only had a salary from Maodong Group, plus his previous savings of several million yuan.

Buying this diamond ring cost him at least all of his income since joining the Maodong Group.

Deng Qian sighed. If only this diamond ring were a gift for her!

She put the diamond ring back in the box and tossed the box into her handbag.

If it weren't for the patients she had appointments with, Deng Qian would have gone to see He Wei right now.

Zhuang Ling left the company an hour early to come to Deng Qian for treatment; she had already been there twice.

Deng Qian said she has some anxiety disorder, but it's not serious and it came on in time. With psychological counseling and medication, she will be back to normal soon.

Zhuang Ling was happy to find her father, but the Song family environment was too oppressive. She was used to freedom and found it really hard to adapt.

After the treatment, Zhuang Ling felt somewhat relieved.

Because of Deng Fei's existence, Deng Qian doesn't have a good impression of illegitimate daughters.

She knew that Zhuang Ling was Song Hongyi's illegitimate daughter. Song Hongyi's grand ceremony in recognizing her was clearly a deliberate attempt to embarrass his legal wife, much like the Deng family's situation back then.

However, as a doctor, Deng Qian would not bring her personal emotions into her work. In addition, since she was introduced by Chu Rou, Deng Qian's attitude towards Zhuang Ling was neither too close nor too distant.

"If possible, you should change your living environment; it will be very helpful for your condition," Deng Qian suggested.

"Okay, thank you, Dr. Deng!" Zhuang Ling nodded slightly. "I'll consider it."

Zhuang Ling left Deng Qian's psychological clinic and strolled along the street.

In the summer, the days grew longer. Zhuang Ling didn't want to go back to the Song family, so she went to the small park opposite the clinic and found a quiet place to sit down.

She rested her chin on her hand, looking at a mother and daughter in the distance.

The little girl, who looked about four or five years old, was playing with her mother, kicking a ball on the grass.

When the little girl gets tired of playing, she will run to her mother's arms and snuggle up to her. Her mother will wipe her sweat, give her water, and then kiss her cheek.

Zhuang Ling's lips curled up slightly, but tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. She missed her mother; when she was little, her mother had been there for her in the same way.

She buried her face in her hands, tears dripping from between her fingers onto the ground.

Time seemed to fly by. By the time Zhuang Ling snapped out of her reverie, the sun had already set, and the mother and daughter opposite her had left.

She pulled out a pack of tissues, took one out to wipe the tears from her face, glanced around, and saw a trash can under a tree not far ahead.

Zhuang Ling stood up, walked over and threw the tissue in her hand into the trash can.

She took a deep breath; it was time to go back to the Song family. It felt like heading to a battlefield.

Just across the park is a bus stop. Zhuang Ling is used to taking the bus. She refused the luxury car that Song Hongyi offered her and never rides in her family's car.

She insists on taking the bus when she goes out, and only takes a taxi when there is an emergency. She has been doing this for more than 20 years and does not find it hard.

In Zhuang Ling's eyes, the Song family's wealth was just a pair of meaningless numbers, having nothing to do with her except for her biological father, with whom she shared blood ties.

Zhuang Ling had just finished throwing away the trash when he turned around and saw five or six young men wearing brightly colored short-sleeved shirts with their collars wide open, exposing most of their chests. They all wore gold chains of varying thicknesses around their necks, though he couldn't tell if they were real or fake.

Zhuang Ling glanced at them; they didn't look like respectable people. Not wanting to cause trouble, she tried to walk around them.

A blond-haired guy stepped out to the side, blocking Zhuang Ling's way, and said with a grin, "Beautiful lady, all alone? Want some of us brothers to keep you company?"

Zhuang Ling looked around and realized that the people who had been strolling nearby were gone. She knew something was wrong; these people were clearly after her.

She couldn't get through, so she thought about turning back and taking a taxi home if necessary.

Zhuang Ling took two steps back and turned to run, but the thugs saw through her intention and surrounded her.

"Trying to run away? Where do you think you're going?"

"Get out of the way, or I'll call for help!" Zhuang Ling gripped the strap of his shoulder bag tightly, his palms sweaty.

"Haha, go ahead and shout, let's see who comes to your aid," the blond-haired man said as if he'd heard a joke. "Look around, is there anyone else?"

Zhuang Ling clenched her fist and flung the briefcase in her hand at the blond-haired man's head.

"Holy shit!" The blond-haired guy saw stars after being hit. He took a few steps back and covered his head.

Zhuang Ling seized the opportunity to run out through the gap, and the thugs reacted and chased after him!
