Chapter 279 Earthquake
Qu Jie licked her lips, about to nod, when her phone rang on the bedside table.
Shen Luo frowned, wondering who was spoiling the mood and interrupting his business. "Never mind it!"
When things are interrupted like this, the ignited emotions are easily extinguished. Qu Jie hesitated again. She raised her leg and kicked Shen Luo away. "Check whose call it is first."
Shen Luo was filled with resentment. At the most crucial moment, he was kicked out again. When would he be able to be with Xiao Jie?
Shen Luo, his little brother throbbing, angrily picked up his phone. Seeing that the caller ID was his older sister, he suppressed his anger and answered the phone, "Hey! What's up calling so late at night?"

His brother-in-law? Shen Luo was a beat slow to react, "Mo Chi? He opened another shop?"
"Who else could it be but Mo Chi?" Chu Rou scoffed and continued, "I've sent someone to pick you up. They should be here soon. You and Xiao Jie should get ready first."
Chu Rou hung up the phone after she finished speaking.
Shen Luo looked down at his brother, who was already dejected. His sister was like a bucket of cold water, always dousing him with coldness all over his body!
Qu Jie had already dressed and sat on the edge of the bed, asking, "What did Sister Chu Rou say?"
Shen Luo glanced at Qu Jie, looking sullen. "She's taking us to a club for two days, saying it's a new investment by Mo Chi."
"Sigh!" Shen Luo sighed heavily. "The richer people are, the more they want to make money. The Mo family's assets are enough for them to live on for several generations, and they still don't think they have enough. They insist on investing in some kind of club, and they even have to open it today. What a waste of time!"
Qu Jie stood up and glanced at Chen Luo, "Don't try to act innocent. I'm inviting you to have fun and you still don't want to."
She took out Shen Luo's clothes from the closet and threw them to him, saying, "Put these on and let's go."
The two got dressed and went downstairs; the car sent by Chu Rou had already arrived.
Sitting in the car, Shen Luo sighed, "It's really great to have a rich older sister; I can benefit from her wealth too."

When the car arrived at the clubhouse entrance, the security guard saw the driver's gold card, opened the gate, and let them drive in.
Shen Luo looked out the window and saw something that looked familiar. Wasn't this the old Zhuoling Manor?
The car stopped at the entrance of the clubhouse's main hall. Shen Luo and Qu Jie got out of the car and walked in hand in hand.
Chu Rou was sitting in the waiting room waiting for them. When she heard Shen Luo's call, she looked up, smiled and waved to them, "Come and sit for a while."
Shen Luo and Qu Jie walked over and sat down. Shen Luo asked, "Where's Mo Chi? Why are you alone?"
"Mo Chi went to talk to his partner. I'll wait for you here. Shen Yan and Shan Shan will be here soon," Chu Rou explained.
"Sister, isn't this Zhuoling Manor? How did it turn into a clubhouse?" Shen Luo asked curiously.
Chu Rou nodded. "The owner here committed a crime, and the villa was auctioned off by the government. Mo Chi bought it."
Zhuoling Mountain Villa has a good location and contains genuine hot springs. After Wang Hong and his gang were arrested, the government took over the property and then put it up for public auction.
Upon learning the news, Mo Chi discussed it with Chu Rou and then bought the property, finding a partner to manage it.
After several months of renovation, we are opening today.
Shen Yan and Huang Shan arrived shortly after. Chu Rou had booked a separate villa, which was enough for their family and offered good privacy.
Chu Rou asked the waiter to take Shen Luo and the others over first, as she wanted to find Mo Chi.
Shen Luo and the other three followed the waiter.
Chu Rou stood up and was about to go up the stairs to the third floor to find Mo Chi.
As she walked to the center of the hall, someone suddenly called her name, "Rou Rou?"
Chu Rou frowned; the voice was so familiar that she couldn't ignore it.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, opened them, turned around, and looked at He Wei walking in through the main entrance, saying in a nonchalant tone, "What a coincidence!"
There was another man with He Wei. He whispered a few words to the man, and the man nodded and went upstairs first.
He Wei stopped in front of Chu Rou, his demeanor gentle and refined, a smile playing on his lips. "What a coincidence, I never expected to run into you in City C."
He looked around and continued, "The last time we came to Zhuoling Manor together was for your twenty-sixth birthday. It's a pity I couldn't be with you for your birthday this year."
Thinking of the gift He Wei gave her for her birthday this year, Chu Rou frowned. "He Wei, I don't know what you want to do, but I need to remind you that we have broken up. You are married, and I am married too. We both have our own families. I don't want to have anything to do with you anymore."
"Mo Chi should have already returned the diamond ring you sent. Please keep your distance from me from now on, and avoid meeting or speaking to me unless absolutely necessary."
Chu Rou turned to leave, but He Wei grabbed her arm. She frowned and glared at He Wei, "Let go of me!"
“Rou Rou,” He Wei said anxiously, “you have never given me a chance to explain that I only love you, not before, and not now.”
Chu Rou pushed He Wei's arm away, her tone cold, "There's no need to listen to your explanation. Who you love now is none of my business, because I don't love you anymore. I only love Mo Chi now."
Chu Rou looked coldly at He Wei, "We can't go back. You should focus your attention on your wife. Deng Qian is a good person. Don't let one person down after another. Isn't it better to cherish the people around you?"
He Wei clenched his fist. Hearing with his own ears that Chu Rou no longer loved him pierced even the hardest heart. Was there really no going back?
Chu Rou didn't want to waste any more time with He Wei. She turned around and took two steps when the ground suddenly started to shake. Her feet seemed to be stuck to the ground, and she couldn't move.
"Earthquake!"
Chu Rou only realized it was an earthquake when she heard someone scream.
City C has hardly ever experienced earthquakes, so this one came too suddenly. Chu Rou, who had no experience with earthquakes, stood there dumbfounded.
The chandelier on the ceiling swayed violently, and the flickering light made Chu Rou even more dizzy.
"I should run away," Chu Rou thought to herself, but the shaking ground, coupled with her legs going weak from fright, prevented her from taking a single step.
"Rou Rou!"
Chu Rou was suddenly grabbed and fell to the ground. She heard a loud thud, followed by a muffled groan from the person on top of her. The hall then darkened.
