Chapter 59 She's just my assistant
After get off work, Chu Rou went home, took off her business suit, put on skinny jeans, tall boots, a light pink sweater, and a short cotton jacket. She looked pure and lovely.
Mo Chi also changed into casual clothes, and the two of them looked perfectly natural standing together.
They first went to a restaurant and ate a couple's set meal.
After the meal, Mo Chi took Chu Rou to the largest shooting range in City C.
Mo Chi was a senior member of the shooting range and was very familiar with the place. He bought Chu Rou a new set of earmuffs and goggles, and the two walked upstairs hand in hand.
Upon arriving at the shooting range, Mo Chi helped Chu Rou choose a small-caliber pistol. He stood behind Chu Rou and whispered in her ear the techniques for firing a gun.
Chu Rou nodded, indicating that she understood. Mo Chi helped her put on the earmuffs, and then guided her to fire a shot.
Rings 10!
Chu Rou turned to look at Mo Chi, her eyes filled with admiration. Her boyfriend was truly amazing!
Mo Chi couldn't resist and leaned down to kiss her lips.
Chu Rou's face flushed instantly. She looked around and saw that there were still quite a few people there.
She took off her earmuffs. "Mo Bao, I want to try it myself. You go play over there for a while."
Mo Chi saw her blushing cheeks and knew she was shy. Even though they slept together every day, Chu Rou still blushed easily.
"Okay, call me if you have any questions."
Chu Rou put her earmuffs back on, raised her pistol, aimed at the target, and fired.
"Bang!"
Sixth Ring Road!
Chu Rou sighed. Luckily, she didn't miss the target. Let's try again!
Mo Chi casually fired a couple of shots next to Chu Rou, keeping his attention focused on her.
He discovered that Chu Rou had one advantage: she was very serious about everything she did.
He introduced Chu Rou to financial knowledge, and now she's not just knowledgeable; in just over a month, Chu Rou has completed intermediate financial accounting, and she's even preparing to take the Certified Public Accountant exam.
Mo Chi felt like he had shot himself in the foot. Chu Rou would study very late every night before going back to her room to sleep, which deprived him of a lot of time to be intimate with her.
Chu Rou is very smart; she can learn anything that Mo Chi has taught her even once.
She has already changed bullets five times and is still practicing. Now she can hit the nine rings.
Mo Chi walked over and pressed down on the gun that Chu Rou had raised.
Chu Rou took off her earmuffs. "Mo Bao, what's wrong?"
"Let's take a break and go get something to drink."
Mo Chi helped her remove her goggles; her temples were already damp with sweat.
Chu Rou tossed her hair, tucking the hair on both sides behind her ears. "Okay, I'm hot and thirsty."
The two men put their guns away, went to the rest area, and ordered two drinks.
“Shooting is so much fun,” Chu Rou exclaimed. “I originally wanted to go to the police academy, but my mom absolutely refused.”
“She wouldn’t let me apply to police academies or military academies, because she was afraid I would end up like my dad.”
Mo Chi knew that Chu Rou's father had sacrificed his life and didn't want to bring up this painful topic again, so he said, "If you like playing, come and play often in the future. You can also shoot arrows upstairs, you can try it too."
Chu Rou's eyes lit up. "I really like it here."
"Mo Chi?"
A clear male voice appeared behind the two of them.
Mo Chi turned around and saw the person who had come in. His brows furrowed imperceptibly.
He stood up and walked over. "Brother Qi, what a coincidence, what are you doing here?"
Qi Hang glanced at Chu Rou with a half-smile, "I came to City C to look at a project, and took some time to come over and have a couple of rounds. I saw you guys just now, and I thought I was seeing things."
"And who is this beautiful lady?" Qi Hang asked Mo Chi, pointing at Chu Rou. "Aren't you going to introduce her?"
When Chu Rou heard that she was mentioned, she stood up and walked to Mo Chi's side, waiting for Mo Chi to introduce her.
After a moment's hesitation, Mo Chi introduced, "She is my assistant, her surname is Chu."
Chu Rou looked up at Mo Chi in disbelief, her smile freezing on her face.
Ignoring Chu Rou's astonishment, Mo Chi continued the introduction, "Assistant Chu, this is my friend from City B, Qi Hang. You can call him President Qi."
Assistant? Yes, Chu Rou thought to herself with a self-deprecating smile. She really was Mo Chi's assistant.
Chu Rou regained her composure, looked at Qi Hang, and nodded slightly, "Hello, Mr. Qi!"
Qi Hang sized up the woman in front of him. She had a sweet face and a pair of bright almond-shaped eyes. When he first saw her with Mo Chi, she smiled sweetly.
But when Mo Chi introduced her as his assistant, her whole demeanor changed, and her every move was indeed like that of a career woman.
"Hello, Assistant Chu!" Qi Hang extended his hand.
Just as Chu Rou raised her arm, Mo Chi grabbed Qi Hang's hand first, saying, "Brother Qi, he's just an assistant, there's no need for this."
“It’s been a long time since we last met. Let’s sit down and chat for a bit.”
Mo Chi turned to Chu Rou and said, "Assistant Chu, you can go and have some fun by yourself for a while. I need to talk to Brother Qi about something."
Chu Rou nodded with a cold face, then turned and went to the shooting range.
Mo Chi watched Chu Rou's departing figure with a complicated expression.
Qi Hang crossed his legs and tapped the table casually with his fingers, waiting for Mo Chi to come back to his senses.
"Mo Chi, you seem to care a lot about Assistant Chu!"
Mo Chi looked away. "She's my classmate's older sister, so I usually take extra care of her."
"Sister?" Qi Hang really didn't realize Chu Rou's age, but considering that she could become Mo Chi's assistant, she must have graduated from university at least.
Mo Chi hummed in agreement. "She's two years older than you, so you have to call her 'older sister' too."
Qi Hang was taken aback for a moment. "Assistant Chu looks quite young."
“I’m not old to begin with,” Mo Chi replied, then asked, “Why didn’t Brother Qi come to see me when he came to City C?”
“One of my investment projects ran into some trouble recently. I had nothing else to do, so I came to take a look and also to see you. I was just about to make plans with you these past few days, but I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
"What project? Can I help?" Mo Chi asked.
"Zhuoling Manor!"
Qi Hang gets angry whenever he thinks about it. If he hadn't come over to take a look out of boredom, he wouldn't have known about the big incident that happened recently.
His men were reckless, daring to kidnap people in the manor and even engaging in human trafficking.
He's going to thoroughly investigate his subordinates when he gets back.
Mo Chi was somewhat surprised, "You invested in Zhuoling Manor?"
How come he didn't find it?
"I'm just a nominee shareholder, it's nothing serious." Qi Hang didn't care about making money or not; he was just investing for fun anyway.
What he cares about is whether his subordinates follow the rules. His father has repeatedly warned that no one is allowed to get involved in organized crime or break the law, but some people still break the law and don't respect him and his father.
Mo Chi asked calmly, "Is that human trafficking gang one of your people?"
The Qi family had influence in both the legal and illegal worlds of B City, and their subordinates were a motley crew. It was only after Qi Hang's father took over the Qi family that they began to clean up their image.
From entertainment venues throughout City B to hotels, real estate, and other industries, the Qi family has become one of the top wealthy families in City B in just ten years.
Qi Hang raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You know what happened at Zhuoling Manor? Their human trafficking has nothing to do with our Qi family."
