Chapter 73 Ink Treasure, You Can't Let Me Down
Mo Chi and Chu Rou both turned around; it was a young girl.
She wore black ripped jeans and a black motorcycle leather jacket over a white ripped t-shirt. Her face was heavily made up, but her original delicate features could still be vaguely seen.
Mo Chi felt a little nervous when he saw the person who came, and his brows furrowed.
Chu Rou was observing the girl, and the girl was also sizing up Chu Rou. She walked up to Chu Rou and extended her hand, saying, "Hello, my name is Qi Lin."
Qilin? Chu Rou stood up and took Qi Lin's hand. "Hello, my name is Taotie."
Qi Lin was taken aback, then burst into laughter, "Hahaha! You're so funny, beautiful lady."
Mo Chi was also amused and smiled. He introduced Chu Rou, "Rou Rou, she is Qi Hang's younger sister, Qi Lin, Qi as in Qi."
"Hehe!" Chu Rou chuckled twice. "This name is well-chosen, it sounds grand. Hello, my name is Chu Rou."
Qi Lin smiled and nodded, then asked curiously, "Beautiful lady, are you Mo Chi's girlfriend?"
Um... Chu Rou didn't know whether she should admit it or not, and turned her gaze to Mo Chi.
Mo Chi nodded.
Chu Rou was somewhat surprised. Since Mo Chi said it was okay, she had no reason not to, so she readily admitted, "Yes."
Qi Lin curled her lips into a mischievous smile and said, "That's quite a coincidence, I'm Mo Chi's fiancée."
"What the heck?" Chu Rou's eyes widened. "Fiancée?"
Qi Lin nodded. "Didn't Mo Chi mention it to you?"
Chu Rou turned to look at Mo Chi, "What's going on? Don't you need to explain?"
Mo Chi touched his nose, feeling a little guilty. "Rou Rou, I'll explain to you when we get back."
Chu Rou glanced at Mo Chi, then at Qi Lin, lowered her eyes and pondered for a moment, then looked up and smiled, "Alright, let's eat roast duck first, and we'll talk about everything else after we've eaten our fill."
"Qilin, have you eaten yet? Would you like to sit down and have some with us?"
“Great! It’s no fun eating alone.” Qi Lin sat down opposite the two of them.
Mo Chi kept glaring at Qi Lin, trying to get her to behave and stop being a third wheel.
Qi Lin didn't even glance at Mo Chi; all her attention was focused on Chu Rou.
She chatted casually with Chu Rou, but when she learned that Chu Rou was already 26 years old, Qi Lin covered her mouth and exclaimed, "So Mo Chi likes older women!"
"But you look so young, sister. You look even younger than Mo Chi. Mo Chi looks like an old man all the time."
Chu Rou took a sip of tea and almost choked on it with laughter. She covered her mouth and coughed twice, then asked with a smile, "Does Sister Qi Lin not like the Ink Pond?"
"Of course I don't like him, otherwise Sister Chu Rou wouldn't have had a chance." Qi Lin fiddled with her short wolf-tail hair. "If I set my sights on a man, I'll be with him no matter what, even if it means pestering him relentlessly."
"Hahaha!" Chu Rou laughed, then gave a thumbs up. "That's something else. I think so too. Mo Chi will never be able to escape my grasp."
Qi Lin and Chu Rou got along very well as they chatted, completely ignoring Mo Chi, who was just superfluous to them.
Mo Chi sighed, realizing he really owed the Qi siblings something; why were they always trying to steal his women?
Chu Rou and Qi Lin exchanged contact information, and the meal ended in a pleasant atmosphere.
Mo Chi and Chu Rou returned to the house. Chu Rou sat on the sofa in the living room, arms crossed, her eyes piercing Mo Chi with icy coldness. "Come here and explain!"
Mo Chi's Adam's apple bobbed as he stood in front of Chu Rou like a child who had done something wrong. "Rou Rou, you can see it too, Qi Lin and I don't click."
“Our marriage was arranged by my father and her maternal grandfather a long time ago; it was a business marriage.”
Chu Rou's eyes turned cold. "Then what am I, Mo Chi? I want to know if you've been deceiving my feelings all along?"
"You don't want to get married, but you keep sleeping with me. You're being a pervert!"
"I didn't lie to you!" Mo Chi sat down next to Chu Rou, nervously grabbing her hand. "Can't you feel how I treat you? You can't doubt my sincerity!"
"Shall we register when we get back?"
Chu Rou's gaze softened somewhat. "Then how will you explain this to your father? Will he blacklist you?"
Mo Chi thought that maybe it would restrict all his movements, but he wasn't afraid. "It's okay, with my mom here, he won't go too far."
"But will your mother support you?" Chu Rou asked worriedly.
Mo Chi nodded firmly, "No matter what I do, my mother will always be on my side."
Chu Rou closed her eyes. She had chosen another difficult path of marriage. Her life was just too bitter.
"Rou Rou, my wife," Mo Chi hugged Chu Rou tightly, "You promised me you would never leave me, you can't give up on me so easily."
Chu Rou opened her eyes. If she could give up easily, she wouldn't be in pain. Mo Chi had already taken root in her heart. Trying to pull it out would surely cause her excruciating pain.
"Mo Bao, you can't let me down," Chu Rou said calmly, "otherwise I will never forgive you for the rest of my life."
"No, never!" Mo Chi tightened his arms around her. "Let's go back to City C tomorrow, get the engagement rings, and register our marriage, okay?"
Chu Rou's heart was heavy, but she still nodded, "Okay!"
That night, Mo Chi held Chu Rou and slept soundly through the night, a rare occurrence.
Chu Rou lay awake for half the night in the darkness, her eyes wide open, until dawn broke before she finally closed them.
Mo Chi woke up early. Seeing that Chu Rou was still asleep, he got up quietly. He still had to go to the hospital today to say goodbye to his mother.
When Mo Chi arrived at the hospital, Mo Anbang was not there; only Qiao Siying and the caregiver were present.
"Xiao Chi, you're here!" Qiao Siying was very happy to see her son and asked the caregiver to leave first.
Mo Chi sat by the hospital bed and said, "Mom, I'm going back to City C today."
"So soon?" Qiao Siying said reluctantly. "You'll be turning 22 in a week, and Mom will be discharged from the hospital by then. Can't you stay until after your birthday?"
"I want to complete the acquisition of Fuqiang Electronics before the Spring Festival, but time is a bit tight."
Mo Chi was also worried about Qiao Siying. "Mom, be careful at the old house. Second Brother is starting to make a move against us."
"Try to stay with Dad as much as possible."
Qiao Siying patted Mo Chi's hand, "Don't worry, Mom won't be stupid anymore. Your dad and I... I'll be nicer to him from now on. He's been sulking for so many years, he's been tolerant enough of me."
"You and Qi Lin should get along better. Your father arranged this marriage for you, it's for your own good."
“Mom,” Mo Chi frowned, “didn’t you promise me that I would decide my own marriage and that you would always support me?”
“That was before,” Qiao Siying said, touching her lower abdomen, her heart bleeding, her tone heavy. “Why would your second brother, an illegitimate child, be so confident? Wasn’t it because of his wife’s family’s help?”
"If you want to compete with your second brother, you need the support of the Qi family."
