Chapter 89 Huang Shan will be back tonight
There was no response from Huang Shan for a long time, and Chu Rou began to regret her decision. Had she scared him away? If Shen Yan Ge didn't have Shan Shan, his little warmth, by his side, he would be even more pitiful.
Shi Jingman was still breathing heavily with anger, while Shen Minghui comforted her from the side, "Wife, don't be angry, we won't see her again."
"Aunt Shi, I apologize to you on behalf of my mother." Shen Yan bowed to Shi Jingman from the side.
Shi Jingman let out a heavy sigh, knowing that Shen Yan was in a difficult position. During the time Shen Yan had been back, she had seen things clearly. This child knew how to behave appropriately, respected her, and treated her as a proper elder.
“Xiao Yan, you don’t have to be like this,” Shi Jingman felt a little sorry for Shen Yan when she saw him like this. She walked to Shen Yan’s side and said, “You call me Auntie, and you are my child too.”
“You are you, she is she, and what happens between your mother and me is none of your business.”
"Let's go home first!"
The family of four returned to the Shen family home.
When Shen Luo saw that Shen Yan had also returned, she still asked, oblivious to the danger, "Big brother, why did you come by yourself? Didn't Auntie come with you?"
Everyone glared at him fiercely. Shen Luo didn't know what he had said wrong. "Why are you all glaring at me?"
Chu Rou went over, picked up a piece of apple from the fruit plate, and stuffed it into Shen Luo's mouth. "Your mouth is only for eating. Don't talk. If you talk again, I won't be able to resist cutting you."
Shen Luo chewed on the apple in her mouth, not daring to speak again.
"Xiao Yan, Auntie will cook some nice dishes tonight. You can have a few drinks with your dad," Shi Jingman said, having already changed out of her new coat. "Don't go back tonight, just stay here!"
Shen Yan nodded in agreement. He couldn't go see his mother right now; he'd wait until she calmed down before discussing it further.
Shen Minghui called Shen Yan to the study for a heart-to-heart talk, leaving only Shen Luo and Chu Rou in the living room.
Shen Luo swallowed the apple in her mouth, pulled Chu Rou aside and asked in a low voice, "Sister, what happened? Why does the atmosphere seem a bit off?"
"You know it's wrong, yet you still ask such nonsense!" Chu Rou recounted what happened in the coffee shop to Shen Luo.
Upon hearing this, Shen Luo immediately objected, "Is Big Brother's mother sick? She's spouting nonsense without even investigating properly. Look at what's going on between you and Mo Chi, and she's still worried that you're seducing Big Brother."
"Is she still thinking about my dad? She's just looking for trouble."
"Alright, keep your voice down," Chu Rou patted Shen Luo, "Don't let Brother Shen Yan hear it, he won't feel good about it either."
"I know, I won't mention it."
"Shanshan said she'd be back after the second year of junior high. When is your Xiaojie coming back?" Chu Rou began to pry into Chen Luo's heart.
Upon hearing that Huang Shan was coming back, Shen Luo slapped his forehead and said, "Sis, do you think if I find Xiao Jie a love rival, she'll come back sooner?"
Chu Rou glanced at her silly younger brother, "Are you tired of living? Can Xiao Jie and Shan Shan be compared?"
Shen Luo thought about it and realized it made sense. Xiao Jie was very good at hitting people; she was the tyrant of the university, and probably no one would dare to compete with her for a man.
At this moment, Huang Shan sent a message to Chu Rou: "Sister Chu Rou, I'll be arriving in City C tonight. Could you pick me up from the airport?"
Chu Rou read the message again carefully. She wasn't mistaken: "[Coming back today, did your family agree?]"
Huang Shan: [I agree. My mom made me come back. She said good men are rare, and I've caught one. Age doesn't matter.]
Wow! Chu Rou really admires Huang Shan's mother; she has such high standards!
No problem, send me your flight time and I'll pick you up.
During dinner, after drinking a few glasses of wine, Shen Minghui's eyes welled up with tears. He pulled Shen Yan aside and kept apologizing, saying that he was not a good father.
Shen Yan could only comfort Shen Minghui.
Shen Minghui had drunk too much, so Shen Yan helped him to the bedroom and made him lie down.
Shen Luo went back to her room to video call Qu Jie, Chu Rou helped tidy up the dining room and kitchen, and Shi Jingman went to tidy up Shen Yan's room.
Shen Yan's room had actually been arranged long ago. Shi Jingman just went in to take a look around to see if there was anything she had missed. When she felt it was almost done, she came out to call Shen Yan.
"Xiao Yan, your room is all tidied up. If anything is missing, just tell Auntie."
"Thank you, Aunt Shi, for your trouble." Shen Yan stood up.
"Don't be so formal with me, go inside and rest for a while, you've been up all day."
Shen Yan nodded and went to his room.
Shi Jingman walked into the kitchen, where Chu Rou was washing dishes.
"Whose daughter is so capable!" Shi Jingman said with a smile.
Chu Rou turned around and chuckled, "Yours, your daughter is the most capable."
Shi Jingman patted Chu Rou's head and said, "My daughter is so good. If anyone dares to say anything bad about you, Mom will fight them to the death."
Chu Rou was washing the dishes with her head down when she heard her mother's words. Her nose tingled, and her eyes suddenly filled with tears, which dripped one by one into the sink.
She was especially grateful to have a good mother. Although she lost her father at a young age, she was never lacking in love.
When she was a child, if anyone dared to call her a burden, her mother would find out and the usually gentle Shi Jingman would turn into a shrew and go to the other person's house to yell at them, scolding both the child and the parents.
After that, no one in the neighborhood dared to underestimate Chu Rou anymore.
"Oh, why is my daughter shedding tears?" Shi Jingman lifted Chu Rou's face and gently wiped away her tears. "It's not easy to make you cry."
"Mom," Chu Rou hugged Shi Jingman tightly, "I love you!"
Shi Jingman's eyes also reddened. She patted Chu Rou on the back and said, "That's really cheesy."
"Mom, I'm going to pick up a friend tonight." Chu Rou realized she was being a bit cheesy and quickly changed the subject.
She briefly mentioned Huang Shan's situation, saying, "You just need to know this, but don't ask Brother Shen Yan. He probably hasn't realized yet that Shan Shan is pursuing him."
"Okay, okay," Shi Jingman said, but then she became a little worried. "It's not safe for you to drive alone so late at night. Why don't you let Xiao Luo come with you?"
"Forget it, he's a cripple and will only cause trouble," Chu Rou didn't want to take a burden out with her. "I'm quite safe driving on the main road, and I know self-defense techniques, so most people can't get close to me."
Chu Rou was beautiful from a young age, and Shi Jingman was afraid that she would be bullied, so she sent her to learn Sanda (Chinese kickboxing). Perhaps because of her father's genes, Chu Rou learned it very well and even won the city's youth Sanda championship.
After hearing Chu Rou's words, Shi Jingman felt relieved and allowed her to go out in the middle of the night.
Huang Shan's plane arrived at 1 a.m., and the airport was a bit far away. Chu Rou quietly left the bedroom at 11 p.m.
When she walked into the living room, she found someone smoking in the dark.
Only Uncle Shen smokes at home, but he's probably drunk and passed out, so that leaves only Shen Yan.
"Brother Shen Yan?" Chu Rou tried calling out.
"Hmm," Shen Yan stubbed out his cigarette, stood up, turned on the flashlight on his phone, and saw that Chu Rou was dressed neatly and carrying a bag. "Are you going out?"
"Yes, Shanshan is back, I'm going to the airport to pick her up."
"Huang Shan?" Shen Yan was taken aback for a moment, then said, "It's too late, I'll go with you."
