Chapter 38 From then on, she was someone he could never escape.

She gently closed the guest room door, then walked to the wardrobe, opened it, and among the dazzling array of clothes, picked out a black knee-length dress with a cropped waist. This was the only one that was decent; the others were either backless or only partially covered in the front, which looked frivolous and unattractive, and she didn't want to wear them.

Although this garment has no brand name, the fabric feels delicate and of good quality, which is quite nice.

She took the clothes to the sofa and put them down, then took off the soiled clothes and put on the new dress she had found.

After changing into her dress, she ran to the mirror and twirled twice like a butterfly. Her skirt fluttered, and her already delicate, porcelain-like skin appeared even more radiant against the black dress. Her legs were long and slender, and her waist was so thin that it could be encircled with one hand. Her face, so beautiful it was almost unreal, was gentle yet playful. From head to toe, she seemed like nature's most prized masterpiece, the darling of the forest.

After admiring herself in the mirror, Su Yuxi felt much better and decided to let bygones be bygones for the time being.

When they got downstairs, Fu Huaijin was leaning lazily on the sofa. Hearing the noise, he looked over and stared at her for ten seconds before subtly looking away.

"This dress suits you very well, it's beautiful."

Hearing the praise, Su Yuxi happily ran to him and spun around, saying, "Right? I think so too."

Lu Yunzhou never buys her black dresses, saying they make her look old; he thinks someone as pretty as her should wear brighter colors.

Indeed, back then, she only saw older, rounder-looking people who preferred black, so she had never worn it before. Today, she tried it by chance and felt it was pretty good.

She was smugly enjoying herself, completely unaware that the man on the sofa suddenly sat up straight, his pupils contracted sharply, and his gaze was fixed intently on her slender waist.

If he wasn't mistaken, he did see a pink fox birthmark on Su Yuxi's waist...

Su Yuxi noticed an extremely oppressive gaze fixed on her. She stopped what she was doing and looked at him, about to ask him what was wrong, when the buzzing of her phone interrupted her question.

She turned around and picked up her phone, which she had left on the sofa. She found that there were nearly fifty missed calls, all from the same person, with a long string of text and voice messages on them. The sheer volume of messages was enough to give her a headache.

She quickly skimmed through the text; it was nothing more than a warning, a threat, and a demand for money transfer, telling her to go home immediately. Were they afraid that if she stayed outside for even a second longer, she would sleep with someone else?

Hmph... This man is arrogant to the core. He likes to stand on the high ground of power, waving his self-righteous flag. Under the guise of hypocrisy, he indulges his desires, endlessly accommodating the beauties around him, yet feeling angry and dissatisfied with even the slightest bit of indulgence from her.

Very well, this man made her dislike him even more.

She looked at the last message; he was already on his way.

In order not to cause trouble for others, and since I've already cooked and eaten the meal, I've completely repaid the favor from last time.

She put her phone into her bag, slowly turned around, and her gaze fell on Fu Huaijin, who was standing not far behind her. He stood quietly, staring straight at her, the light in his eyes deep and eerie, as if it could penetrate one's soul, leaving her nowhere to hide.

Su Yuxi stiffened slightly under his gaze, a strong chill running down her spine, spreading from head to toe, making her shiver involuntarily, her heart racing, and her breathing becoming slightly erratic.

That look made her feel like a little lamb, being stared at intently by a ferocious beast, ready to be mercilessly torn apart at any moment, with no way to resist.

She dared not linger any longer and made up an excuse: "Mr. Fu, I have something to attend to and need to go back first. As for my things... could you please have a housekeeper come and pack them up?"

Fu Huaijin realized he had startled her. He looked away, lowered his eyelashes, and extended his large hand, saying in a deep voice, "Give me the phone."

Su Yuxi was confused. She didn't want to give it to him, but she was also afraid of what this man might do. In the end, she timidly handed over her phone.

Fu Huaijin took her phone, tapped on it a few times expressionlessly, and finally handed it back to her.

She took the phone, puzzled. She secretly checked it and found nothing different. Before she could ask him why she took his phone, the man confessed, "There was a tracking system installed on your phone. I've already deleted it for you."

"..."

"Really? Thank you." Su Yuxi gave a fake laugh, inwardly cursing Lu Yunzhou from head to toe. This man's methods were so despicable; was he trying to monitor her in real time?

If we don't teach her a lesson, she'll think she's made of clay.

"Then I'll go back first." She stretched out her hand, trembling as she pointed to the tightly closed door, and then tentatively took a step back slowly.

When she retreated to the doorway, the man didn't react at all. She slowly turned around, opened the door, and then gently closed it again. Where no one could see her from inside, she darted into her car and locked the doors.

After a long while, there was still no movement inside, so she finally let out a long sigh of relief and her body relaxed.

Just as she was about to start her car and leave, the phone rang again; it was Lu Yunzhou, that persistent man.

She glanced at it, didn't take it, fastened her seatbelt, and drove away.

As soon as the car drove away, a gaze from the second floor followed it closely until it disappeared from sight and completely left the villa. Only then did he turn his gaze away, pick up his phone, and make a call to the other side.

After the phone call ended, the lights in the villa went out, and the villa, which resembled a ghost house, instantly disappeared into the darkness.

Su Yuxi returned home feeling completely disoriented. She drove her car to the garage, parked it, and slumped weakly in the driver's seat, as if her soul had been ripped away. The last look Fu Huaijin gave her kept replaying in her mind.

That's terrifying.

This man is really strange; sometimes he's gentle, sometimes he's dangerous. One second he's frail, the next he's strong enough to devour a person.

He's such a weirdo.

"Fickle" is an understatement to describe him; she'd better stay away from him in the future.

She adjusted herself in the car for a while before getting out. The moment she stepped out of the car, a figure pounced on her, grabbed her arm tightly, and slammed her against the car body, pinning her down firmly.

The man pinched the woman's delicate cheek with his large hand, his bloodshot eyes fixed on her lips, oblivious to anything amiss.

He lowered his head again, buried his face in her neck, and sniffed gently, but he didn't smell any other strange man's scent.

His heart immediately calmed down, but her disobedience still made him very angry: "Su Yuxi, have you grown bolder? You defy me time and time again."
