Chapter 4: Which is more important, money or integrity?

A dozen minutes later, Lu Yunzhou returned with a gloomy face, but he was the only one who came back; the girl she had dragged out was nowhere to be found.

Perhaps it will never happen again.

It's not uncommon for men to support women; after all, a wealthy and powerful man is naturally surrounded by beautiful women.

He can provide them with excellent living conditions and material enjoyment, but that doesn't mean they can scheme against him.

For Lu Yunzhou, Su Yuxi is his lover, and anyone who tries to sow discord between him and Su Yuxi will pay the price.

Lu Yunzhou walked heavily to Su Yuxi's side and sat down, his brows furrowed and his mood unusually irritable.

He reached for the cigarette on the table, put it in his mouth, and was about to light it when he suddenly remembered that Su Yuxi hated the smell of smoke, so he threw the cigarette back on the table.

He casually picked up his wine glass, tilted his head back, and drank it all in one gulp.

Su Yuxi glanced at him casually before turning her gaze back to Wan Qianqian.

It was precisely because of her calm and indifferent attitude that Lu Yunzhou became increasingly anxious.

Others could only turn a blind eye, not daring to provoke him easily, for fear of angering this capricious person.

Just then, someone's phone rang. After a couple of "oh"s, the person suddenly stood up and said they had an urgent matter to attend to and needed to leave.

Seeing this, the others, as if granted a pardon, all made excuses to get up and leave.

Wan Qianqian was unwilling to leave, but the two men at the back dragged and pulled her out.

In the blink of an eye, the once lively private room was left with only two people.

Su Yuxi calmly continued eating her fruit, saying nothing; she didn't know what to say.

Lu Yunzhou scratched his head, a sense of frustration making him feel powerless and helpless. He felt things shouldn't be like this.

She shouldn't believe such a flimsy reason; she should be angry and question why she didn't react at all.

“Xi Xi, I…” Lu Yunzhou glanced at her hesitantly, but didn’t know what to say.

Su Yuxi gracefully put down the fruit plate in her hand, slightly raised her hand to smooth a few stray strands of hair behind her ear, turned her head slightly, and smiled gently: "It's getting late, let's go home and rest first. We can discuss other things tomorrow."

She is so understanding and considerate that she didn't cry or make a fuss even when faced with a man's betrayal and infidelity. She should be considered a very competent fiancée, right?

Lu Yunzhou choked for a moment, unable to utter any explanation, and finally just responded with a soft "hmm".

Wasn't her reaction exactly what he wanted? What was he struggling with?

The two then stood up from the sofa, and Lu Yunzhou walked towards Su Yuxi, reaching out to take her hand.

However, Su Yuxi ignored his outstretched hand and walked straight toward the door without stopping.

Her reaction seemed like she was being difficult; in reality, she didn't want to touch the man who had just been kissing and hugging someone else.

As Lu Yunzhou watched her receding figure, a sense of loss welled up in his heart, and he silently followed her to the door.

Suddenly, as if he had figured something out, he breathed a sigh of relief.

He said that Su Yuxi loved him so much, how could she not react when she saw him with other women?

She probably loves him too much and doesn't want to embarrass him in front of others, so she acts like she doesn't care.

The more I think about it, the more I believe it to be true.

So now he should be thinking about what to give her to appease her anger—jewelry, handbags, or a house? The newly arrived yacht is also quite nice.

The two returned home in silence.

It was already 2 a.m. when they got home. After washing up, they should have rested, but Lu Yunzhou's phone rang.

He didn't know who was calling, but after answering the phone, Lu Yunzhou's expression changed several times, showing a mixture of conflict and joy, as well as a hidden arrogance in his eyes.

He hung up the phone, casually put on a coat, and said urgently to Su Yuxi, who was eating snacks in the lobby, "Xixi, I have something urgent to attend to and I'll probably be back late. You go to sleep first, don't wait for me."

After hastily leaving those words, he disappeared in a flash without waiting for her reply.

Su Yuxi looked at the door slamming shut, and her heart felt like it had been stung by something. It didn't hurt, but it felt suffocating.

But then she thought, thank goodness the man left, otherwise she would have felt uncomfortable all night with him around.

Unexpectedly, Lu Yunzhou did not return home for several days after leaving home, and there was not even a single message from him!

What's even more outrageous is that he had clearly promised to send her ten kilograms of gold jewelry, but now several days have passed and she hasn't seen a trace of it.

This really worried Su Yuxi. Whether the person came back or not was not important, but those ten catties of gold jewelry were worth a lot of money. They were worth more than 600 yuan per gram now, so ten catties would be worth at least several million yuan.

The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

So, early that morning, Su Yuxi specially selected a plump Luhua chicken, stewed a pot full of delicious chicken soup, and prepared to go to the company to give him a reminder.

However, when she arrived at the company, the secretary told her that Lu Yunzhou had not come to work for the past few days, and no one knew where he had gone or how to call him.

Left with no other option, she left the company and took out her phone to try calling Lu Yunzhou...

These past few days, I don't know if everyone's still holding a grudge, but nobody's taking the initiative to contact each other. Now, for the sake of her gold, what's wrong with her bowing her head first?

The call went through, but no one answered.

She tried calling a second time but still couldn't get through, so she gave up and tried again.

Just as I hung up the phone, Wan Qianqian called.

She was as loud and boisterous as ever, her voice so high it seemed to pierce the sky. Today she seemed particularly excited, almost bursting her eardrums.

"Su Yuxi! What are you doing? Are you crazy? Can you please get the water out of your head?"

"Lu Yunzhou has already pissed on your head and is doing you a disservice, and you still remain indifferent?"

"Would you die if you didn't take his money?"

"A person lives for a breath of air, even a Buddha would fight for a stick of incense. Besides money, a person should also have integrity."

Faced with this barrage of questions and accusations, Su Yuxi was completely stunned, her eyes filled with confusion. She wondered why she hadn't done anything these past few days, so why was she being scolded so early in the morning?

"Qianqian, calm down." Su Yuxi said softly, trying to soothe the other person's anger.

But Wan Qianqian wouldn't listen at all. Her voice grew increasingly shrill and piercing, as if it were about to explode: "How can I calm down?"

Where are you now? I'm coming to find you right away!

She wanted to take her to the hospital to check if she had a mental illness.

She was furious.
