After Su Yuxi finished her meal, she looked back and saw that the two people on the sofa had already gone back to their room.
They stayed in the room mysteriously for half an hour, plotting something. When Chu Juan came out, he looked exhausted.
As the two walked up and down the stairs, their eyes met unexpectedly in mid-air, and a subtle awkwardness filled the air around them.
Seeing that she neither moved aside nor spoke, Chu Juan took the initiative to ask, "Is there something you need?"
Su Yuxi blinked, scratched her head sheepishly, and nodded slightly: "Um... that medicine can continue to be brewed, I can drink it."
Chu Juan was worried about Fu Huaijin's matter and wondered why she was willing to take the medicine. He had no time to deal with it now, so he didn't say anything, just nodded slightly and walked past her to leave.
Su Yuxi was met with a cold shoulder, and the embarrassment on her face instantly became even more awkward. She turned around and looked at the tall figure, snorted twice in her heart, and muttered a curse at him for being so inexplicable before turning around and going upstairs to find Fu Huaijin.
She didn't have the password to his room, nor his fingerprint, so she could only knock on the door.
The door opened quickly, but the person inside seemed to be hiding some secret, as if afraid of being spied on, and only opened it a crack.
Su Yuxi reached out and tried to push the door, but the person inside immediately blocked the door with their foot. No matter how hard she tried, the door remained unmoved.
Unable to push it open, she peered through the crack in the door, catching a glimpse of a faint light—this man…
"Open the door! What are you doing?"
"What is it?" Fu Huaijin twitched the corners of his mouth, not wanting her to come in.
"No, I just wanted to see how you were doing."
The person inside was silent for a moment, a dark glint flashing quickly in their eyes. Their hand clenched slightly at their side, and they spoke in a stiff, strained voice: "I'm fine."
After saying that, he closed the door and refused to open it no matter how urgent or loud Su Yuxi's knocking was.
Su Yuxi spat at the door in anger, muttering under her breath, "Someone's got a screw loose."
He turned around and went back to his room.
Anyone who's stupid enough to care about him is a pig. How dare they shut her out! It's infuriating!
Su Yuxi stormed back to her room and stayed there for about an hour before the maid brought her the medicine she had prepared.
That's really good execution.
Although she was still reluctant, Su Yuxi pinched her nose and drank the medicine for the sake of her face.
In the evening, as soon as Hu Chichi woke up, she asked Su Yuxi to go out. She had been cooped up all day and really wanted to go out, but seeing that it was almost six o'clock, she reluctantly declined. Su Yuxi didn't say anything, only that she would visit her again when she had time.
Su Yuxi sat in the living room with a heavy heart, glancing at the old clock from time to time. Time was passing by, and it was almost six o'clock in three minutes, but the person inside still showed no sign of coming down.
A sense of unease and worry welled up inside me, and I hesitated whether I should go up and check on the situation myself.
But the thought that he wouldn't even let him in the door today made him very unhappy.
She rested her chin on her hands, staring at the second hand, counting down in her mind, until there were still thirty seconds left, when the upstairs door finally opened.
Su Yuxi's face lit up with joy, though she didn't know why she was so happy; her gaze towards him was filled with delight.
Fu Huaijin remained calm, stared at her for a few seconds, and then slowly walked downstairs.
Well, I've been offering my warm welcome only to be met with a cold shoulder again.
Fu Huaijin slowly walked to the sofa and sat down, his movements carrying a hint of imperceptible sluggishness, and his whole being exuded an aura of resistance towards others.
He remained silent, his indifferent gaze fixed on the television. He appeared to be watching TV, but his mind had already wandered off somewhere else. The only thing that changed was the light and shadow of the television characters jumping across his face.
When the bell rang, Fu Huaijin's body visibly tensed, his breathing became slightly heavier, but his face did not show any pain. He would rather endure the excruciating pain than touch anyone around him.
Su Yuxi felt puzzled. Her dark eyes subtly observed him, trying to figure out what was wrong with him.
The face is still the same face, with no missing limbs or obvious external injuries, and basically not a single hair is missing.
No, it seems he was wearing gloves when he came back today, and he's still wearing them now. Is his finger injured?
Out of curiosity, Su Yuxi leaned closer, nuzzling his hand with her chin, and whispered, "Why do you wear gloves all day long? Aren't you stuffy?"
What was originally just a casual inquiry seemed to pierce Fu Huaijin's sensitive nerves like thorns. His eyes suddenly turned cold, like winter frost, sending chills down one's spine.
Su Yuxi was stunned by his sudden cold threat, her breath caught in her throat for a moment, and for some unknown reason, she raised her hand and slapped him: "What are you doing? You scared me."
Is this man sick?
"Hmph." She snorted coldly, not wanting to pay him any more attention. She stood up angrily, intending to go back to her room, but as soon as she took a step, she heard the man's commanding voice: "Sit down. You're not allowed to go anywhere."
"Hey..." Su Yuxi put her hands on her hips, her amiable demeanor completely gone, and glared at the man: "Are you out of your mind? Can't you speak properly?"
Not only did he give her a terrifying look just now, but now he's acting all high and mighty, giving her orders.
"What did I do to offend you? I just took a day off last night and came back a little late. Why are you yelling at me?"
"You came back with a sour face today, I owe you one."
Fu Huaijin gently closed her eyes, ignoring her sharp and stern questioning, as if nothing around her mattered to her.
Su Yuxi was waiting for him to refute her, but the man closed his eyes and ignored her completely. Her words were like hitting soft cotton, leaving her feeling powerless.
She was furious, but there was nothing she could do about it. He had already missed yesterday, and he had given her the cold shoulder. If he left again this time, she would lose her job.
Out of resentment, she could only suppress the urge to leave, and sat down angrily, making the sofa tremble a few times, as if to tell the man next to her her dissatisfaction.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She deliberately turned her body away, her face full of stubbornness, as if she didn't want to communicate with him.
The two divided the sofa into two sections, one keeping his secret to himself and remaining silent, while the other, stubborn and unwilling to utter a sound.
The two remained frozen in place for an hour.
When the time came, Su Yuxi was still angry. She didn't even glance at him as she got up and ran upstairs in her bear slippers.
She immediately locked the door upon returning upstairs. The crisp sound of the lock clicking shut was like a declaration from her heart: she would never let him sneak in again.
Fu Huaijin opened his eyes the next second after she left. He didn't turn around, but he could clearly hear the heavy footsteps, the sound of her deliberately stomping in anger, and the sound of the door being firmly locked, like a heavy knock on his heart.
His gaze fell on the half-full glass of water on the table. He reached out, picked it up, and gently rubbed the rim of the glass with his thumb. Suddenly, he put it to his lips and drank the water, showing no disgust that it was someone else's leftovers.
