Fu Huaijin did not utter a word, but a gentle smile appeared on his lips.
"Come on, let's go inside. It's windy outside, you'll catch a cold." Her eldest grandson is very precious. He's weak during the day and can't withstand the slightest breeze, so naturally she has to protect him closely.
The two people in front of her were exchanging pleasantries, their warm conversation flowing freely. Su Yuxi couldn't join in, and simply followed closely behind them.
Upon reaching the center of the hall, Fu Huaijin slowly tried to sit on the sofa. Upon seeing this, Su Yuxi immediately stepped forward to help him and then sat down next to him without any hesitation.
The old lady then noticed her. In that one glance, her eyes faltered slightly, filled with regret. The little girl had a black patch the size of a baby's fist on her delicate face, which was particularly noticeable on her fair skin. At first glance, it was quite frightening.
But her good manners allowed her to quickly compose herself, replacing it with an indescribable, subtle expression.
She knew her grandson well; he was usually a cold and aloof person who wasn't interested in any girls and ignored the women who tried to get close to him. However, Liu Ying, who had saved his life, was the only one who could get close to him.
It's only been a short time since she last saw him, how come she didn't know there was such a girl next to her grandson? How could she be sitting on the same sofa with him, so close to him?
There was not a trace of resistance on the grandson's face.
Something's not right.
A complex mix of doubt welled up in the old woman's heart: "Who is this...?"
Aunt Mei brought over the freshly brewed flower tea and placed it on the table. She also glanced at Su Yuxi, who was caught off guard and was startled by her face, almost spilling the tea in her hand.
Su Yuxi glanced at her, and Aunt Mei smiled apologetically, put down the tea, turned around, and quickened her pace to leave.
She wondered to herself, "Where did their young master get to know such an ugly girl?"
Su Yuxi withdrew her gaze, sat up straight, and introduced herself in a gentle voice: "Hello, ma'am, my name is Su Yuxi, and I am Fu Huaijin's...caregiver."
They have signed an agreement and are considered formal contract workers. Now their main job is to take care of his health, so calling them caregivers wouldn't be wrong.
The old woman's smile froze on her lips; she seemed incredulous: "A caregiver?"
Putting aside the fact that her grandson never hires any caregivers, what employee would sit next to him? What employee would dare to mention the boss's name?
It didn't seem like it at all. Although I had my doubts, I couldn't ask them in front of them, so I could only suppress my curiosity and continue chatting with my grandson.
Seeing that the old lady was ignoring her, Su Yuxi decided not to bother with her and figured it wasn't her business. She took out her phone and started scrolling. Soon, the maid brought over two fruit platters.
She smacked her lips lightly, glanced at Fu Huaijin who was obediently listening to her lecture, and decided not to disturb him. She then picked up a plate and began to eat it with gusto.
I must say the fruit here is plump, juicy, fragrant, and sweet—delicious!
Taking advantage of the moment when the old lady across from her stopped talking, she used her fork to poke a piece of watermelon and held it to Fu Huaijin's lips: "This is sweet."
"Have a piece."
Upon hearing this, the old lady paused in her teacup, looked up in surprise, and was about to stop drinking some water when she saw the girl next to her so boldly feeding her. She wondered how the girl dared to do that.
Just when she thought her grandson would get angry and have the girl thrown out, what did she see?
Seeing his grandson open his mouth and eat the watermelon that someone else was feeding him, he was deeply moved.
Her hand trembled slightly. To avoid arousing suspicion, she quickly put down her teacup, looked away, and lowered her eyes, pretending not to have seen anything, afraid that her glance might disturb the two of them.
But then I thought about it and it didn't feel right. Didn't my grandson like that girl Liu Ying?
So what's going on here?
The more the old lady thought about it, the more complicated her feelings became. She kept glancing at the two of them out of the corner of her eye.
One piece wasn't enough; she fed him two or three pieces. Her grandson really accepted everything. She would never believe that the two were innocent. Her grandson and this girl definitely had some kind of illicit relationship; otherwise, how could they be so intimate?
Su Yuxi fed him a few pieces and then stopped, finishing her own plate. Feeling bored sitting there, and remembering the scenery from earlier, she moved closer to Fu Huaijin and whispered in his ear, "It's too boring here. Can I go out and play by myself?"
"Okay, okay, I've finished speaking. You can go and have fun on your own." Before Fu Huaijin could speak, the old lady who had been eavesdropping in front of them answered for them first.
The old lady stood up, walked a few steps to Su Yuxi, and carefully looked her over.
Aside from the unsightly large dark spot on her face, this girl has pure and innocent eyes, with her pupils shining brightly like a unique star in the night. She seems like a simple and innocent child.
"You must be feeling down. It's my fault for being so busy talking to Xiao Jin."
"It's still early, there's still some time before dinner. You and Xiao Jin can go for a walk outside. I'll call you when it's time to eat." The old lady smiled kindly. Su Yuxi was quite flattered, after all, when she came in just now, everyone around her treated her like she was invisible, and she ignored her.
Her sudden enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming for her.
Su Yuxi laughed awkwardly twice, tugged at Fu Huaijin's sleeve, her tone both coquettish and pleading, indicating that he should handle it himself.
Fu Huaijin understood immediately, lowered his eyes, and said calmly, "Yes, I'll take her out for a walk."
Seeing her grandson's initiative, the old lady smiled even more happily. She couldn't help but pull Su Yuxi up and pat her gently: "Then be careful. The scenery on the back mountain is quite nice. You can take a walk there. If you can't stand it, come back."
Su Yuxi couldn't pull her hand back, and was somewhat at a loss, frightened by the old lady's loving eyes.
Fu Huaijin couldn't understand why his grandmother was acting this way either. He grabbed Su Yuxi's arm and pulled her behind him, saying, "Grandma, let's go out first."
"Okay, go ahead."
Under the old lady's eager gaze, the two walked out. Only after boarding the shuttle bus and leaving the old lady's frightening eyes behind did Su Yuxi breathe a heavy sigh of relief, feeling as if she had finally escaped from the hellhole.
"Your grandma is so strange, it feels like she's plotting something against me." Otherwise, how can you explain her sudden change of heart? Even the wolf in sheep's clothing can't change her expression as quickly as she does.
Fu Huaijin glanced back, her silver hair swaying gently in the breeze. Unconsciously, a strand of hair brushed against Su Yuxi's cheek. She raised her hand to pull it away and also turned to look at the old lady behind her. She was still there, laughing happily... It was rather frightening.
"have no idea."
...
However, not long after they left, an uninvited guest arrived at their home.
The old lady was discussing Su Yuxi and Fu Huaijin with the housekeeper.
