This morning, Su Yuxi was taken to a professional pet hospital because her stomach started hurting again at seven o'clock.
This time it was even more severe than last time. She couldn't even drink water, and the previous medications weren't working. Fu Huaijin was extremely worried, so he quickly got dressed and took her out to find a professional doctor for a checkup.
Su Yuxi was groaning and listless the whole way, looking like she was terminally ill. Even her hair had turned a little gray. I was really afraid she would die halfway there.
The turning point came after the car went off the bridge.
Su Yuxi, who had been feeling unwell, suddenly perked up. She sat up from Fu Huaijin's lap, jumped to the chair next door, and clung tightly to the window, whimpering as if something important outside was attracting her attention.
"What's wrong?" Fu Huaijin was puzzled. He reached out to hug her back, but the little fox refused to let him hug her and pried hard at the car door, wanting to get out.
"Want to go down?"
Su Yuxi nodded vigorously.
He glanced outside but didn't notice anything unusual. Seeing Su Yuxi frantically trying to pry open the door, he told the driver, "Pull over."
It was this parking incident that caused him immense regret in the days that followed.
After the car slowly pulled over to the side of the road and stopped, Su Yuxi didn't wait for him to make a move. She quickly pressed the door open button, and the car door opened with a sound. Almost at the same moment, she jumped out of the car like an arrow and disappeared from the spot in an instant.
Fu Huaijin felt a thud on his forehead, as if he had been struck on the head. A chill ran from his feet to the top of his head. Almost instinctively, he pushed open the door beside him and turned into a blurry afterimage as he chased after the figure.
The little fox moved with astonishing speed, as if it were riding on wheels of fire. The people around it could only see a flash of white light, but they couldn't make out what it was. When they looked again, nothing was left.
Ignoring the pain in her body, Su Yuxi followed that familiar yet distant scent, passing through bustling crowds, turning into winding and narrow alleys, crossing busy bridges, running through quiet parks, and finally reaching the desolate foot of the mountain.
Finally, my gaze settled on a protruding rock halfway up the mountain.
The man standing there was tall and straight, dressed in white as snow, with silver hair fluttering in the wind and shimmering with a crystal-clear fluorescence in the sunlight. At first glance, his figure seemed to blend into the surrounding natural scenery.
This time she did not admit her mistake.
"Ah Zu..." Su Yuxi called out loudly to the man halfway up the mountain, her voice filled with indescribable excitement.
This time it's real, it's the real Ah Zu, no longer an illusion.
The man on the mountainside naturally saw her too. His gaze pierced through the layers of trees and saw Su Yuxi standing before him, having overcome numerous obstacles on her own. His ethereal face was filled with a look of relief.
Because that little girl discovered herself through her own efforts, which meant that she broke through the first shackle of her body, and this was the first step in her growth.
Xuan Yin lightly lifted his foot, his movements elegant and swift. In the blink of an eye, he appeared at the foot of the mountain like a ghost.
Su Yuxi's heart raced as she stared intently at the figure she had longed for for over three years. Her eyes, already brimming with tears, burst forth as if a dam had been breached, silently expressing her endless longing.
“Ah-Zu…” She jumped three feet high into Xuan Yin’s arms, her two claws gripping his clothes tightly, like a drowning person grabbing the only piece of driftwood. She buried her head in his chest, unable to suppress her emotions any longer, and burst into tears without any regard for her image.
Her mournful, drawn-out cries echoed throughout the forest; one might have mistaken her appearance for one of great injustice and grievance.
"Grandpa, you...you've finally agreed to see me." Su Yuxi trembled, her voice choked with disbelief, relief, and joy.
"Waaaaah, I miss you so much. I went back and couldn't find you. I thought you didn't want me anymore."
Why don't you contact me?
"Why is everyone ignoring me... Waaaaah..."
"I'm almost 10 billion, can you let me go home?" She longed to go home, she missed her friends in her tribe.
Xuan Yin did not answer her immediately, but gently stroked her fur, letting her vent her emotions.
When she had cried enough, talked until she was tired and could stop, Xuan Yin let out a low, slightly indulgent laugh: "Still crying?"
"If you still want to cry, I'll wait until you're done crying before we talk."
"However, if you cry any more, you'll turn into an ugly little kitten."
Su Yuxi wiped her tears and snot all over him; only she dared to do that.
"I'm not a little kitten."
"Ah Zu, are you here to take me back?"
Xuan Yin raised his hand to tidy up her matted hair, stared into her eyes for a long time, and nodded slightly under her expectant gaze.
According to his plan, he would come and take her away after she discovered his whereabouts, but not to take her home.
"Xi Xi..."
"Xi Xi..."
Two voices overlapped in her ears, lingering in the empty woods for a long time.
Su Yuxi stiffened slightly, slowly turned her head, and her gaze seemed to travel through time, landing on the panting man.
The two humans and the fox seemed to have transcended the flow of time, forcibly standing on the same land.
One of them had silver hair tied up high, and his figure was as graceful as an immortal, untouched by the dust of the world. His eyes seemed to contain the stars and the sea, and people could feel a kind of compassion for humanity that transcended worldly affairs. This made people feel awe and warmth.
The other man also had silver hair, but it was simply tied back without much decoration. He wore a modern, well-tailored shirt and trousers, exuding an aura of composure and confidence befitting a superior. He was incomparable to the ethereal, otherworldly man mentioned above.
There is also a species that takes the form of a fox, whose every eye movement and gaze reveals an indescribable spirituality.
Fu Huaijin's gaze was fixed on the radiant man. The moment their eyes met, a deep-seated sense of inferiority welled up inside him. He was startled to find himself afraid to meet the man's eyes.
But in order to bring his wife and children back, he could not afford to have any thoughts of running away.
Fu Huaijin clenched his teeth, the veins on his forehead bulged, and his entire facial muscles trembled slightly. He reached out to Su Yuxi, his voice filled with fear and pleading: "Xixi, come here, come back with me."
Su Yuxi's pupils trembled slightly. She didn't know why this man recognized her. She had disguised herself so well. Even if he had doubts, he shouldn't be so sure.
She slowly withdrew her gaze, looked up at Xuan Yin who had a calm expression, and then looked back at Fu Huaijin who was trying his best to control his emotions.
