Chapter 103 The Mantis Stalks the Cicada, Unaware of the Oriole Behind: The Man Who Followed

The sooner the better to get the jewelry back, the better.

She didn't care about the tail end anymore; it was her savings accumulated over the years, and she had to have it in her hands to feel at ease.

Su Yuxi drove along the quiet road, passing through the bustling city center and away from the city's hustle and bustle, to a peaceful and secluded suburban villa area.

The thought of getting her precious treasure back soon filled her with immense excitement.

She was immersed in her joy all the way, and soon she came to the uphill section of the road. As long as she drove up, she would soon reach her destination.

A car happened to be coming down from above.

Su Yuxi habitually honked her horn, the piercing sound breaking the surrounding tranquility. The other party honked in response, and both pulled over and slowed down.

The headlights of the car ahead made her squint uncomfortably. The cars were getting closer and closer, and just as the two cars were about to pass each other, Su Yuxi was the first to see the face on the other side.

Her pupils widened in fright, her breath caught in her throat, and almost instinctively she lowered her head, turning it to the other side to hide her face.

The two cars passed each other quickly, and just as they passed, the man in the opposite lane suddenly looked this way.

However, Su Yuxi drew herself so badly that even she didn't recognize herself, let alone someone who only showed half of the back of their head.

Once they successfully made it up the hill and were further and further away from the cars behind them, Su Yuxi unconsciously pressed the accelerator hard, and the car suddenly shot forward like an arrow.

Her expression changed drastically, and she reacted quickly by tapping the brakes a few times, which gradually reduced the car's speed.

These two sudden movements really frightened her quite a bit.

Su Yuxi parked the car to the side, gently patted her pounding heart, cursing the scoundrel for scaring her while also being thankful that he left, giving her plenty of time to successfully take her baby away.

After resting for a while, she restarted the car and continued driving.

Upon arriving at the gate of the villa area, she stopped her car. Vehicles entering and exiting the villa area are usually registered and can enter with just a scan, but she hadn't registered, so she could only wait there for the security guard to come and ask her questions.

After waiting for about two minutes, the security guard, seeing that the homeowner was still not going in, came out of his post to ask what was going on, based on his professional instincts.

As a dull knocking sounded on the window, Su Yuxi rolled down the window. In the instant she turned her head, her normally sized pupils flickered when they met the security guard's eyes.

The security guard, who had been clear-eyed just moments before, suddenly became blank, staring unfocused at the object in front of him.

Su Yuxi's red lips parted slightly, and no one knew what she said. The security guard didn't respond at all, and walked back to the guard booth as if he had lost his soul, raising the barrier to let her in.

As soon as she left, a gust of wind blew by, and the security guard who was standing there suddenly shivered. His eyes flashed with confusion as he scanned the empty road. It was quiet all around, and there wasn't a soul in sight. So why was he standing there?

He scratched his head in confusion, frowned, and looked around suspiciously. It seemed like a car had been trying to go in, but it hadn't moved from the entrance, so he got out to ask what was going on.

But why is there nothing in front of me?

For no apparent reason, a strange fear crept into my heart.

The security guard shrank back, and the dog glanced around furtively, trying to reassure itself that it must be a mistake, that there were no ghosts in the world. But its steps back to the guard post gradually turned into a run.

He had just sat down when another luxury car pulled in. But this one didn't require him to open the door; the external monitoring system recognized it as the owner's car and opened it directly.

To conceal her whereabouts, Su Yuxi deliberately parked her car under a large, lush tree. It was late at night, and no one was out and about.

She put on a mask, quietly got out of the car, and walked lightly to the gate. Looking at the tightly closed gate, she wondered whether she should climb over the wall to get in.

Before that, she tried placing her finger on the fingerprint scanner. With a ding, the heavy door slowly slid open automatically, silently proving that Lu Yunzhou had not deleted her fingerprint.

This also makes it easier for her to go inside and get things.

Su Yuxi was secretly delighted and was about to step inside when suddenly a chill ran down her spine. The next second, her scalp throbbed slightly. She let out a soft cry, covered her scalp with her hands, and looked back. That glance was a web of fear and shock that made her heart stop for a few seconds.

"What are you doing here instead of sleeping at home?"

"You know that people can scare each other to death, don't you?"

Fu Huaijin, his expression indifferent, released her hair, stared into her eyes, and coldly questioned, "What are you doing here?"

I thought she was just going out to see friends, but I didn't expect her to come back to see Lu Yunzhou. Did she think that Lu Yunzhou was going to get married, so she came back to try to protect her position?

"What's it to you? I only work two hours a day. This is my free time. It's none of your business where I go." This man is really something. She only signed a work contract. Anyone who didn't know better would think she sold herself to him. He has to ask her where she goes.

Fu Huaijin's eyes suddenly darkened, his thin lips pressed tightly together, and the chilling aura emanating from his body seemed to solidify at any moment.

Su Yuxi sighed inwardly, not wanting to waste time arguing with him about these trivial matters. If she wasn't careful, others might notice. In order to complete the plan as soon as possible, she could only give in and coax this big man: "Okay, okay, it's my fault. I just came to get some things. I'll leave after I get them, okay?"

Fu Huaijin's cold and hard expression finally relaxed. As long as he wasn't coming back looking for someone, anything was fine.

Su Yuxi rolled her eyes and ignored him. She crouched down like a thief, moving lightly with each step. Her tails swayed with her cat-like movements, and for a moment, she really looked like a mischievous little fox trying to steal chickens and dogs.

"Lu Yunzhou isn't home," Fu Huaijin suddenly said from behind.

Su Yuxi froze, remembering the car she had encountered on the hillside earlier. She straightened up inch by inch: "Keep your voice down. Do you think I don't know? I'm just being careful because I'm afraid of being caught on camera."

Fu Huaijin didn't stop there. He shifted his gaze to the constantly flashing monitor indicator light and kindly reminded her, "That monitor has a 360-degree field of view. Even if you are a speck of dust on the ground, it can capture you clearly."

"What you just did was all in vain."

Su Yuxi's face became even more embarrassed, but she couldn't refute him. She could only glare at him angrily: "Yes, you think you're so smart, you think you know everything."

She hummed twice and swaggered inside.

Fu Huaijin, standing behind her, smiled slightly and followed closely behind her with his long legs.
