Chapter 259: The husband dares not utter a single complaint when his wife doesn't come home.

He quickly shoveled the rice out of his bowl, put down his chopsticks, stood up, and said in a slightly tired voice, "I'm full. I'm going to rest now. Remember to close the door when you leave."

After saying that, he turned and fled into the house, gently closing the door behind him, leaving only a faint silhouette.

Su Yuxi didn't notice anything unusual and continued to eat slowly, enjoying the tranquility.

After finishing her meal, she didn't rush home. Instead, she picked up her game console and played it by herself.

But playing alone is really boring. After ten minutes, she lazily put the game console aside and sighed, "Boring."

She climbed onto the sofa, lay down, and soon fell asleep to the sound of the game.

Not long after she fell asleep, a thin blanket was gently placed over her.

The person above stared at her for a long time before turning away.

When Su Yuxi woke up again, it was already dark. The bodyguards were still guarding outside, and her phone was blank; no one was looking for her.

So she took advantage of the situation and refused to leave.

"Are you sure you don't want to go back?" Zhong Yan fiddled with the things he had collected last night, and when he heard that Su Yuxi wasn't leaving, a subtle joy welled up in his heart.

"Won't your family worry if you don't go back?"

Su Yuxi frowned as she thought about the mess at home, her face looking unpleasant. The more she thought about it, the more annoyed she became. Besides, she was a free person; didn't she have the right to decide where she could go?

Besides, those people are very dangerous right now. Not to mention her own safety, she has to be responsible for the baby in her belly.

"No." So I won't go back.

"Whatever you want." Zhong Yan keenly caught a hint of impatience in Su Yuxi's words and secretly wondered if she had argued with that man. If so, it wouldn't be a bad idea for her to use this place as a safe haven.

"I'll go make your bed."

Zhong Yan put down what she was holding and quickly went to the room to change her bedding, afraid that if she was too slow, the girl might change her mind.

Fu Huaijin, who was waiting for his wife to come home, sat quietly in the understated yet luxurious black car downstairs.

His car window was half open, his aura was suppressed, and his heavy gaze was fixed on the second-floor window. From there, one could clearly see a figure constantly busy, while he, as the husband, could only hide in the corner and watch.

How ironic.

With nothing to do, Su Yuxi strolled to the window, intending to just casually glance around to pass the time, but she spotted a familiar silhouette among the many black cars.

She frowned, avoided eye contact with the person, and deftly drew the curtains to block out outside prying eyes.

Fu Huaijin felt a momentary pang in his heart, his phone gripped tightly, and his eyes were filled with complex emotions that he couldn't find an outlet for.

The people inside seemed to be deliberately avoiding him, immediately turning off the lights and closing the door to shut him out.

The stimulation caused the blood vessels in Fu Huaijin's forehead to throb.

He reluctantly turned his gaze away, gently rubbing his aching temples with his fingers. Sometimes he really hated that his hearing was too good, that he could clearly hear the pleasant conversation and comfortable interaction inside.

Those should all have belonged to him.

How can he appease someone?

Throwing money at it?

no.

Xixi already has enough money.

In the past, he wouldn't even flinch at deals worth billions or tens of billions, but now, he's racking his brains trying to get his wife to look at him more, but to no avail.

If you can't think of something yourself, then get the people around you to think of it together.

...

Day after day, seeing that no one was urging her to go back and that someone was delivering food to her door every day, Su Yuxi simply gave up completely.

I'm not going back.

The husband, who was left alone in the empty house, dared not utter a single word of objection in order to consider her feelings.

Zhong Yan still stayed at night and hid during the day. Su Yuxi would sometimes follow him, but she would get sleepy after a short while and usually go home by herself.

To keep her from getting bored by herself, Zhong Yan would come home earlier, which meant he would collect less stuff. He would usually store things for two days before selling them.

As usual, he went out to collect goods with his bag tonight. He had just arrived at the location and hadn't even gotten out of the car when a luxury car blocked his way.

Just as he thought someone was deliberately causing trouble, the car window slowly rolled down, revealing a half-section hole inside.

The man's eyes were as deep and cold as an icy pool; a single glance was enough to send chills down one's spine.

The faces of people from Country Z, the luxury cars, the domineering presence... the only people who could be associated with me are those from Su Yuxi's side.

Immediately, a man in a suit got out of the passenger seat. He opened the car door with a blank expression and indifferent eyes, and gestured for Zhong Yan to enter. He didn't say a word, but he had an aura that left no room for refusal.

Zhong Yan had grown up in the slums and was used to all sorts of things, but those eyes still startled him. He didn't know why these people wanted him, and they obviously wouldn't give him an answer now.

And give him no chance to refuse.

And so, Zhong Yan was forced into the carriage by their silent coercion.

An hour later, Zhong Yan was returned to his original position. He had no injuries, no pain on his face, and no mental problems, so he did not seem to have been abused.

He stood there, staring blankly in the direction the car had disappeared. When the car had completely vanished at the end of the road, he lowered his eyes, clenching his fists so tightly that he didn't even feel his palms bleeding.

We can't pack up tonight's things.

He got back on his bike and returned the way he came.

It was still early when Zhong Yan got home, so he sat quietly in the living room, enveloped in the night, his thoughts still on his conversation with that person.

Those people have thoroughly investigated his background, even his parents' three generations back in China, and they've found out everything he didn't know, letting him know how carefree and unrestrained his parents are now.

They gave themselves two choices: one was to leave with a sum of money, which would ensure their wealth for the next three lifetimes.

This is a gift to thank him for taking in and accompanying Su Yuxi some time ago, and also to send him to West Point Military Academy, because it has been his dream since childhood.

But he refused them all. Knowing that the parents who abandoned him were still living a life of luxury, he chose a different path.

Zhong Yan returned to his room and took out the blueprints for the guns and various firearms he had designed over the years from the deepest part of the drawer.

He doesn't study, not because he's poor, but because the knowledge in schools is too simple, and going there would only be a waste of his time.

Compared to the book's rambling content, he preferred these cold, deadly weapons that could kill the enemy with a single blow. He had many salvaged items that, after his modifications, could be sold for high prices.

He gave these items to the bodyguards outside and asked them to pass them on, so they would know his choice.

After doing all that, he sat back down on the sofa and stayed there quietly.

Just as seven o'clock arrived, the sound of a car parking came from downstairs, and less than a minute later, light footsteps stopped in front of his door.
