A sudden gust of cold wind swept across Wan Qianqian's neck, making her arms break out in goosebumps.
She raised her hand and rubbed it a couple of times, and inadvertently saw a man with a dark face and cold, piercing eyes standing at the door.
Instantly, her whole body stiffened, and her heart trembled.
Who would have thought that one minute you're criticizing someone else's crickets, and the next you're caught red-handed by the very person in charge?
Wan Qianqian's cheeks flushed slightly, embarrassment creeping across her face. She grabbed Su Yuxi's hands and began her silent plea for help.
We were just joking around; it shouldn't be a capital offense, right?
Su Yuxi followed her gaze to the door and saw a dazzling man. Still angry, she only glanced at him casually before looking away.
The air seemed to freeze for a moment, and the three people present fell into an eerie silence.
Fu Huaijin strode over, breaking the ice. He tossed his coat aside, sat down on the single sofa, and asked in a flat voice, his tone unreadable: "Miss Wan, is there nothing else you're doing?"
Wan Qianqian was slightly taken aback. Was this a veiled criticism of her meddling and loose tongue? She forced a bitter smile and said, "Hehe, no."
"Ah! I think I have something urgent to do, Xixi, I'll come find you after I'm done."
After giving her a perfunctory reply, without waiting for anyone to say a word, she vanished in a flash.
After everyone left, only the two of them remained in the living room.
Fu Huaijin's temper had dissipated. He stood up and pretended to pour himself a glass of water, making a noise as he returned.
But the woman on the sofa didn't even glance at him.
He cut up a plate of fruit and placed it in front of her, trying to break the tension.
The people around remained unmoved.
Seeing her adorably awkward expression, Fu Huaijin helplessly picked up a piece of sweet watermelon, held it to her lips, and gently coaxed, "Are you still angry?"
That's quite a temper.
Su Yuxi turned her head to the side, pursed her red lips, and did not respond.
Fu Huaijin sighed almost imperceptibly in his heart, put the watermelon back in his hand, put his arm around her waist, and with a clever move, pulled her into his arms.
"Don't be angry. Take it out on me. What if you get yourself all upset?"
"Otherwise, you can beat me up, and I definitely won't fight back or talk back."
After saying that, he reached out and turned that petty face to face him, then offered his own face: "Go ahead and hit me."
This is a scene that no one could possibly imagine: that feared big shot actually begged someone to beat him up in order to appease his wife.
Su Yuxi naturally wouldn't lay a hand on him, so the man grabbed her hand and slapped himself twice on the face.
What are you doing?
She loosely clenched her fist and forcefully pulled her hand back; who would want to be beaten?
There's something wrong with it.
Seeing that his wife was finally paying attention to him, Fu Huaijin smiled and gently rubbed her palm with his slightly calloused fingertips, saying softly, "Can you forgive me?"
Su Yuxi raised her eyelashes and covered them slightly, her voice hoarse, which could be considered a compromise: "What can be done now that it has already happened?"
If I don't forgive him, can I kill him?
Fu Huaijin's Adam's apple bobbed as he stared intently at her: "Xixi, believe me, I will treat you very, very well from now on, and I will not let anyone bully you."
Those who bully you, I will make them pay a terrible price.
"Besides you, who else would bully me?" Su Yuxi sneered, her eyes filled with silent accusation. This bastard almost killed her, and he still had the nerve to say that.
Fu Huaijin's eyes darkened for a moment: "I'm sorry."
He didn't know it was her first time, and he himself had little experience, so he was a bit lost at first. Later, he lost control, and things got out of control, causing the delicate girl to suffer a lot.
However, to his surprise, she and Lu Yunzhou had been dating for three years without crossing any boundaries.
But that's fine too, his Xixi should belong to him wholeheartedly.
"We're planning to go back to Shengjing in the next couple of days, and then we'll take you to see your grandparents."
Su Yuxi's eyes lit up: "Really?"
Thank goodness, I can finally go back.
"Mmm." Fu Huaijin gently stroked her hair with his warm, broad hands. He was afraid that staying here for too long would make her feel stifled. It would be good to go back and explain to the elders at home that this was their granddaughter-in-law, and that he would no longer be alone.
He lowered his head and kissed her lips, his nose filled with her sweet scent. The person in front of him was like an addiction; once you touched her, you could never let go.
Su Yuxi was slightly taken aback. Caught off guard, she was attacked and, within a dozen seconds, was breathless from the kiss. She gritted her teeth and forcefully pushed him away, saying, "Stop."
Afraid of angering her again, Fu Huaijin wisely released her soft waist and lay back on the sofa, feeling as if a raging fire had been ignited in his heart, almost consuming his reason: "I'm sorry."
The girl in front of me was so alluring that I didn't know why I kissed her.
Su Yuxi was startled and fearfully got out of his warm embrace, jumping onto the opposite sofa like a frightened deer to get away from him. This was a one-time thing, and she had to stay away.
"I'm going to find Qianqian, you can play by yourself." Her voice was clearly flustered, and she turned and left hastily, ignoring the man's expression.
As Fu Huaijin watched the fleeing figure, a complex emotion welled up in his eyes—a frustration born of being misunderstood and unable to defend himself.
How did he become like this?
...
Two days passed in the blink of an eye, and the group returned home on a luxurious private jet.
During this time, Su Yuxi stayed close to Wan Qianqian.
No matter how gently Wan Qianqian tried to persuade her, she refused to leave.
Wan Qianqian couldn't actually open her mouth and tell her how far away she was from her.
So from the moment she boarded the plane, she felt like she was being slowly tortured, and the people next to her wanted to skin her alive.
But she didn't want to either; if she couldn't appease her own wife, what did it have to do with her?
This is blatant misplaced anger.
Until she got off the plane, she never once wanted to get away from this darling girl, mainly because the man beside her was too imposing and she couldn't handle him.
As soon as she got off the plane, without waiting for Lin Xiao, Wan Qianqian turned around and disappeared. Without that murderous gaze, she felt like she had finally come back to life.
Su Yuxi was taken directly back to the old house.
They didn't tell anyone they were back. The old lady was picking vegetables in her own garden. Recently, the doctor told her to do more down-to-earth things. She wondered what down-to-earth meant. She couldn't just roll around on the ground, could she?
So I started my own vegetable garden and planted things that are easy to grow.
When I saw them return, I almost thought I was hallucinating. I threw down the vegetables I had just pulled from the garden and strode out of the garden with a very steady gait. It seems that farming these days has been worthwhile.
The old lady looked at the handsome couple with a warm smile: "Why did you come back? Why didn't you tell us beforehand?"
Fu Huaijin's fingers intertwined tightly with Su Yuxi's. The two exchanged a glance and smiled knowingly. His tone was as deep and magnetic as ever, but the words he uttered almost gave the old lady a stroke.
