Side Story: Meeting Again After Three Years

Three years later.

"Ladies and gentlemen, a blizzard is approaching. The plane is scheduled to make a temporary landing at Shengjing International Airport in thirty minutes... The ground temperature in Shengjing is 0 to -7 degrees Celsius..."

After a long series of announcements ended, a flight attendant wearing a pencil skirt and high heels came to the first-class cabin, gracefully half-squatting to the side of the seat, and said in a gentle voice: "Ms. Su, hello. Due to weather conditions, our plane is about to land. Please fasten your seatbelt and stay awake to ensure your safety."

Su Yuxi was in a light sleep. Hearing the instructions in her ear, she pulled down her eye mask, lifted her chair, adjusted to a comfortable position, and nodded to the flight attendant who had not yet left: "Understood."

The flight attendant stared at the stunningly beautiful face, completely mesmerized. In her line of work, she had seen all kinds of beautiful women, but she was certain that this was the most beautiful passenger she had ever seen in her life, beyond description.

"Okay, thank you for your cooperation."

The flight attendant stood up, clutching her pounding heart, and returned to her seat. Just as she sat down, her colleague returned. The two exchanged a glance and couldn't resist chirping for a while longer.

Hearing others' praise, Su Yuxi felt no emotion at all.

She had just finished dealing with matters in Country L and was originally going to transfer in Hong Kong before flying to Yun City. She had been away from home for a month and missed her little baby very much.

We were supposed to meet tomorrow, but now it'll be delayed for a few more days.

After the plane landed, Su Yuxi took her luggage, refused the airline's arrangement, and took a taxi to a five-star hotel in the city.

Along the way, no matter how curious the people around her looked at her or how they whispered, she seemed not to hear them at all. She walked straight ahead without looking to the side, her aloof and arrogant demeanor making her seem so superior.

There was an unexpected incident during the onboarding process.

"Su Yuxi...?"

A suspicious male voice came from behind.

Su Yuxi subconsciously turned around and glanced at the person who called her name. It was a completely unfamiliar man who was staring intently at her with a very excited look.

"Are you calling me?"

When the man realized that the person in front of him was indeed Su Yuxi, his eyes widened suddenly, his pupils trembled violently, and he exclaimed in surprise, "It really is you! My God, where have you been for the past three years? Why are you only coming back now?"

Su Yuxi remained calm, keeping her eyes down and her mind focused, but she still couldn't recognize who this person was.

The man belatedly noticed her unusual behavior: "What? Don't you recognize me?"

"I am Brother Fu's cousin, Qi Zhenglu. I've met him several times."

Su Yuxi was completely bewildered and had no recollection of it.

"Hello ma'am, your room key has been issued. You can take the direct elevator to the top floor."

"Do you need us to call someone to help you carry your luggage upstairs?"

Su Yuxi turned around, took the room key, and shook her head: "No need, thank you."

She ignored the man behind her, picked up her suitcase, and walked towards the elevator.

As soon as Su Yuxi left, the man immediately went up to ask about her check-in information. After confirming that it was correct, he finally felt relieved. He didn't care about anything else and braved the heavy snow to rush to Fu Huaijin's house.

Due to today's rare heavy snow, the road conditions were extremely bad. What should have been a journey of a little over an hour took him a full three hours. In addition, because he was in a hurry, the car hit a utility pole three times, skidded five times, and almost drove off the overpass once.

Fortunately, he eventually arrived at the villa area where Fu Huaijin lived, safe and sound.

As soon as the car came to a stop, he hurriedly got out and strode towards the gate. As soon as he entered, he bumped into Chu Juan, who was coming downstairs.

Seeing his flustered expression, Chu Juan casually asked, "Why are you running?"

Qi Zhenglu grimaced and rubbed his legs, which were sore from the fall, before plopping down on the carpet. He then mysteriously began to tease him: "Brother Juan... guess who I saw today."

Chu Juan was holding her phone, texting someone, when she glanced at him absentmindedly and casually replied, "Who did you see?"

"I saw Su Yuxi...it's Su Yuxi, my cousin's wife." Qi Zhenglu couldn't hide his excitement, and his voice unconsciously rose eight octaves.

"You know what? She's become so beautiful now. When I first saw her, I almost didn't recognize her. You know what? I felt like she was glowing. And you know what? He didn't even recognize me."

"That's too much! I've been in front of her so many times, and given her so many gifts... How could she forget me?"

Chu Juan stopped typing. He only heard the name Su Yuxi; he couldn't hear anything else.

Three years ago, Fu Huaijin disappeared for three months without any warning. No one knew where he went; it was as if he had vanished into thin air.

When news of him came again, he was escorted back to the gate of the Fu family.

What should have been a joyous occasion turned into a catastrophe for everyone when Fu Huaijin woke up.

He was blind, deaf, and unable to speak; no one knew what had happened.

Only then did someone come forward to confess that three months earlier, Fu Huaijin had handed over all his power and issued an order strictly prohibiting anyone from leaking this information.

Not only that, he also left all his private property to Su Yuxi. All of these actions show that Fu Huaijin had no intention of returning here alive.

Now... Su Yuxi is back?

Where is she?

"What?" Qi Zhenglu was complaining about his dissatisfaction when he was interrupted like this, and he forgot what he was going to say.

"Where is Su Yuxi?" Chu Juan shouted uncontrollably.

Startled by his roar, Qi Zhenglu shrank back and stammered out the hotel's address.

A gust of wind swept past, and the figure vanished instantly.

Qi Zhenglu stared at the gate, thinking to himself: "It's snowing heavily outside now, so I probably won't be able to get out."

However, he overthought things. Chu Juan not only went out, but when he arrived at the hotel, the car looked like it had been through a fierce battle and was almost falling apart.

Outside the presidential suite, Chu Juan rang the doorbell urgently.

Su Yuxi had just finished showering and her hair was half-dry. Thinking that the food she had ordered had been delivered, she opened the door without any suspicion.

They were met by a rather handsome man who was panting heavily.

"Who are you?"

Chu Juan stared intently at Su Yuxi, as if trying to see right through her.

She had indeed changed in the three years since he last saw her. She had become more beautiful, more intellectual, and also quite unfamiliar. She looked at him as if he were a complete stranger.

"Su Yuxi." Chu Juan called out softly, the name lingering on his lips with a slight, almost imperceptible tremor.

Su Yuxi frowned. How come so many people knew her name? Was her name really that common?

"Yes, that's me. Is there something you need?"

"you……"

Chu Juan's Adam's apple bobbed, and he asked in a hoarse voice, "Don't you remember me?"

Su Yuxi frowned slightly, her gaze sweeping over Chu Juan, who was completely unknown to her.

She doesn't have any human friends either.

"I don't know him."

Chu Juan's heart sank to the bottom.

"Do you still remember Fu Huaijin?"

"Fu Huaijin?" When Su Yuxi uttered these three words softly, she felt a momentary dizziness, her heart skipped a few beats, and then a strange feeling rose up. She raised her hand to her heart, not understanding why she was so moved by this name.

But after searching through all her memories, she couldn't seem to recognize this person at all.

"I don't know him."

Chu Juan's anxious heart finally died.

Clearly, not only Fu Huaijin had an accident three years ago, but Su Yuxi did too, otherwise how could she not recognize her husband?

“I know it’s presumptuous of me to say this, but Miss Su… you must come with me to see someone.”

Looking into the man's burning gaze, Su Yuxi agreed almost unconsciously.

She went back to her room to change her clothes and got into Chu Juan's car.

The two remained silent throughout the journey.

On the bus, Su Yuxi was texting her baby on her phone, telling him that she might not be able to get home for a few days.

As soon as the little guy received the message, he immediately sent her a voice message.

"Mommy doesn't keep her word. If she lies to a child, she'll turn into a snotty worm!" The little girl is three years old this year. She speaks in a childish voice and is particularly serious. She is usually very attached to her dad, but if she is away for a long time, she will make a fuss and ask to see him.

They hadn't seen each other for almost a month, so of course they started making a fuss.

Su Yuxi smiled helplessly and sent another message back: "There's nothing I can do. It's snowing heavily here, so the plane can't continue flying. We can only wait for the snow to stop."

"Be good at home, Mom brought you a gift this time."

Upon hearing there was a gift, the person on the other end immediately forgave her and started excitedly recounting how her brother bullied her and wouldn't play with her...

Su Yuxi always let these words go in one ear and out the other. Although this girl doesn't lie, she does talk nonsense.

Her brother really didn't want to talk to her, mainly because the little girl was too talkative, loved to cause trouble, and was greedy, which annoyed her brother to no end. So, most of the time, her brother would hide and make sure she couldn't find him.

Just thinking about the little girl's angry face made Su Yuxi's smile deepen, and she couldn't suppress it.

Chu Juan, standing to the side, gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands, his lips pressed into a straight line.

So, were those two children born safely in the end?

Overall, it's good news.

The car struggled through the heavy snow, its wheels slipping multiple times, but he refused to stop and spent three hours making his way to a villa in the suburbs.

At this moment, the snowflakes in the sky grew larger and larger, as if they were about to cover up the entire world.

Su Yuxi gently pushed open the car door and got out. A gust of snowy wind blew in, and she pulled her coat tighter around herself, raising her eyes to gaze at the house in front of her.

This house?

It gave her a feeling that was both familiar and strange. Had she been here before?

The snow continued to fall, and within seconds, a thin layer of snow had accumulated on her head and shoulders.

Suddenly, a black umbrella appeared above her, shielding her from the falling snowflakes.

"Let's go in and take a look."

Su Yuxi glanced at the man holding the umbrella, but didn't resist much. With a heart full of doubts, she slowly started walking towards the villa.

The two walked side by side down a snow-covered path, their footsteps crunching underfoot with each step until they reached the steps and the doorway, at which point the sound stopped.

Chu Juan put down his umbrella and pushed open the door. A wave of warm air rushed in, dispelling the surrounding chill.

He went in first, followed closely by Su Yuxi.

The hall was empty; there was no one there.

But the layout of the living room gave her an inexplicable sense of familiarity, even though it was her first time there.

As she continued walking further in, what appeared before her shocked her: photos hanging on the walls…

The person in the photo is actually her? There are also occasional glimpses of another person in the photo.

"Does it look familiar?" Chu Juan stood behind her, looking at the photos on the wall.

Although some people can no longer see these photos, he does not allow anyone to touch a single thing here, nor does he allow any alteration.

"Want to know why your photo is here?"

"I'll take you to see someone." Chu Juan raised his eyes and looked up at the room upstairs.

Su Yuxi followed his gaze upwards, and a sudden sense of panic welled up inside her. Her intuition told her that a huge mystery was hidden there, waiting for her to uncover the truth.

Another voice told her that once she really went up there, some things might be irreversible.

Should she go up there?

With a snap.

Before they could do anything, the people upstairs groped their way to open the door.

Su Yuxi's gaze was drawn to the person who came out, but when she saw the man's face, her eyes changed from hesitation to confusion...

It's that familiar yet strange feeling again.

"What... happened to him?"

Chu Juan stared intently at every change in Su Yuxi's expression, trying to discern a trace of pretense, but to no avail; she truly did not remember Fu Huaijin.

"I don't know. He was sent back three years ago. He can't see, he can't hear, he can't speak, and even his pain receptors have disappeared. He's like a living dead. Nobody knows what happened to him."

"No, you should say that only you know what happened to him."

"Me?" Su Yuxi was even more confused.

"But I don't know him."

"You know them." Chu Juan's tone left no room for doubt. How could he not know them? They were a married couple registered on their marriage certificate.

He is your husband.

Su Yuxi's eyes widened instantly, filled with disbelief. She instinctively wanted to refute, but the words that came out were: "My...husband?"

What happened today was too fantastical for her.

The familiar scenes along the way, the man who was both familiar and unfamiliar to her, and those photos—everything told her that she had indeed been here before and left an indelible mark.

But why does she have no memory of it at all?

Filled with confusion, Su Yuxi slowly climbed the steps, one after another.

Although the person upstairs couldn't hear or see, something seemed to be pulling him, causing him to turn his face toward the stairwell.
