Chapter 3 The Buddha's voice is like rain falling on the eaves
On the fifteenth night, the clear moonlight, mixed with a layer of blurry blood, spilled into the dense forest.
Huali followed closely behind Aobai, and the two of them arrived at an abandoned ancient building.
It is an old temple, but due to years of disrepair, it has lost its majesty and instead has an added sense of eeriness.
The damp air was filled with the smell of decaying wood. Huali passed through the dilapidated gate and arrived at the front of the main hall in the courtyard.
“This is it. I can sense the aura of a demon.” Ao Bai jumped back onto Hua Li’s shoulder, his expression serious. “It’s inside.”
Huali rubbed her arms and carefully pushed the door open to go inside.
All around was quiet, except for the moonlight shining through the window onto the Buddha statue in the hall, and the offering table was covered with cobwebs.
A dark shadow was lying under the table.
Ao Bai arched his back, his hair standing on end. "What is that thing?"
"Xiao Bao?" Hua Li ignored Ao Bai, took a few steps forward, squatted down in front of the table, and tentatively asked.
Upon hearing footsteps, the shadowy figure trembled even more violently, curled up in a loud cry, "Waaah, don't eat me! I don't taste good! I want to go home, waaah, Mommy..."
"Hey, hey, don't cry. I'm a good person. I came to rescue you." Huali explained hurriedly.
"If you keep making noise, you'll bring the Shadowless Beast back. Let's knock it out and carry it out before it notices." Ao Bai paced back and forth anxiously. "Don't touch my tail, you're hurting me."
"Who kidnapped you? Stop fooling around." Huali handed the jade pendant to Xiaobao. "Now you believe me, right? I really came to save you."
"If it's not you, then who is it?" Ao Bai turned around subconsciously.
Holy crap!!!
A chilling wind blew into the main hall from outside the door, and Huali felt goosebumps all over her body.
"Run!" Without looking back, she grabbed Xiaobao and quickly scrambled into the altar. The next second, a huge black face opened its mouth and bit down from behind.
The moment the altar shattered, Huali rolled on the spot with Xiaobao in her arms, got up, and ran outside.
The temple door slammed shut with a bang as she lunged forward. Caught off guard, Huali crashed into it head-on, her vision blurring with stars.
She quickly hid in the moonlight in the corner and shook her head.
The moonlight around them gradually shrank, and the shadows on the walls flowed and spread like black lacquer. Inside the room, the shadows that had failed in their attack gathered crookedly in one place, piling up into a two-meter-long black figure.
Xiao Bao had fainted from fright.
Without time to think, Huali's mind raced, "Wood-type card, activate!"
The wood element card, one of the five elements, instantly transformed into vines, binding Xiao Bao firmly to her back.
The downside of the initial cards is that they can only be used once a day. She now only has four R cards left: Gold, Water, Fire, and Earth.
As the black man closed in, she could no longer use the vines to climb over the roof and had no choice but to flee in a sorry state.
Unlike the Tata Beast, the Shadowless Beast was extremely agile and incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, it was right in front of her, its five fingers clenched as if to tear out the heart of the evil spirit.
"Earth tile, defend!"
Having withstood a barrage of attacks, Huali felt as if her internal organs had been overthrown. "So powerful, is this one also a mutant?"
Ao Bai jumped onto the top of the Buddha statue and looked down, saying, "This one is probably being controlled by someone with ulterior motives! Who is it, and what do they want to do!"
"If you can't beat them, run away first."
Despite the pain, Karin drew a fire-type card, "Explosive Bomb, blast!"
A massive burst of flames instantly engulfed the Shadowless Beast's body.
The air blast caused the doors and windows to crack. The rosewood was thrown into the air by the blast and tumbled over in mid-air before coming to a stop just outside the door.
The pale moonlight in the courtyard spilled onto the ground, and the wild grass grew like ghostly shadows. After regaining her footing, Huali quickly turned around.
"Holy crap, they're still alive!"
A massive black shadow materialized again in the firelight. The explosive talisman hadn't completely killed the Shadowless Beast; instead, it had fused it into a two-headed monster that roared and pounced on her.
*
A blood moon hung high in the sky. Hua Li, carrying Xiao Bao on her back, ran frantically, cursing her mother, her crimson feathers flailing wildly beside her face. During their escape, Xiao Bao's arm had been scratched, tinged with bluish-purple demonic energy; it needed immediate treatment.
We can't lure the Shadowless Beast to crowded places, but what else would be the most suitable location?
Karin's mind was racing, but she didn't dare stop walking for even a second.
Suddenly, Ao Bai shouted with delight, "Host, there's a small courtyard ahead with an array inside. It must be a fellow cultivator!"
Huali was overjoyed, "Take me there!"

When the blood moon rose high in the sky, the copper bells on the eaves of the courtyard suddenly fell silent.
Moonlight streamed through the window lattice, tracing slender diamond shapes on the blue bricks. Lian Zhuo sat upright on the futon, her snow-white robe gleaming with a soft, lustrous light.
However, upon closer inspection, one can see that the Bodhi beads on his wrist are slowly rotating in reverse.
A bead of sweat fell down his collar, and he struggled to finish reciting the Shurangama Mantra.
The water in the offering tray moved automatically without wind, slowly forming a water mirror.
“Amitabha,” came the old man’s sigh from the mirror, “This Gu poison ‘Ling Kan’ is truly domineering, and it is even more unforgettable on the fifteenth day of the Blood Moon. Is the Buddha’s mind still calm?”
The night breeze flickered the candle wick, and Lian Zhuo opened her eyes.
The last wisp of black energy was absorbed by the reversed Buddhist beads. "It's alright. I have suppressed my Nascent Soul stage cultivation to the early Golden Core stage. As long as I don't circulate my spiritual power, the Gu poison can be suppressed."
"I will be leaving during my absence, so I will have to trouble Uncle-Master Liaowu."
Liao Wu nodded, "You don't need to worry about the Buddhist sect. I have already announced to the outside world that the Buddhist disciple is in seclusion, and no one knows about this except me."
"Amitabha Buddha, disciple of Buddha, you still need to find a way to break the curse of the poison as soon as possible. If you encounter the demonic beast Bifang, it may alleviate the symptoms to some extent."
The water mirror disappeared, and the ever-burning lamp burst open with a single flame.
A series of hurried footsteps approached from afar.
The magic array had no effect on ordinary people. Huali carried Xiaobao over the wall and burst open the inner gate, where she saw a figure standing in front of the table.
The night wind stirred the prayer flags inside the house, landing on the eyelashes of the person who looked up at them.
"Help, Master! There's a demon chasing us!" Without waiting for a response, Huali rushed into the room and quickly closed the door.
The magic circle outside appears to be a barrier designed to protect against demons.
But the Shadowless Beast, undeterred by being blocked outside, continued to try to break through the barrier.
Huali put Xiaobao down. Xiaobao's face was deathly pale, and he was barely breathing. "What should we do?"
Ao Bai jumped up and down, saying, "We need to purify the demonic energy, but neither of us knows how."
"She's possessed by demonic energy. Let me try." The cold voice was like rain falling on the eaves.
Following the direction of the gaze, the first thing Huali saw was a section of wrist bone beneath the snow-white kasaya, more translucent than moonlight.
It is encircled by a string of black Bodhi beads; the black and white colors create a striking contrast.
Huali subconsciously looked up and met a pair of extremely clear and indifferent eyes.
Like the glass in the damp rain and mist of an ancient temple, it seems to be without sorrow or joy, but deep inside it contains unmelted spring ice.
This person... is... too good-looking.
Seeing that the girl remained silent, Lian Zhuo lowered his head slightly and emphasized, "Benefactor, young benefactor, you cannot delay."
A wisp of cool sandalwood fragrance suddenly wafted into my nose, like the lingering scent of incense burning in a temple on a rainy day, mixed with the aftertaste of rainwater.
Huali quickly snapped back to reality, "Oh right, you should help her quickly."
Ao Bai, who had been silent until now, suddenly screamed: "Host! Look at what's next to you!"
Huali was startled by it, looked down, and her breath caught in her throat.
Earth-type cards, appearing out of thin air without being summoned?
