Chapter 406 Wen Jin vs. Wen Tingyun

Chapter 406 Wen Jin vs. Wen Tingyun

The wind in the North is fierce and pure.

The snow-capped mountains gleamed with a cold, bluish light under the sunlight. All was silent except for the sound of the wind howling across the icy plains.

"Snap—"

As the cracking sound rang out, space twisted and tore apart without warning.

First, a slender finger reached out, then the hem of a dark robe, pale skin, and finally—

Wen Jin remained calm and took a step forward.

The Demon Lord stood tall and imposing, conspicuous in the wind and snow. His weary face was almost expressionless, yet the surrounding wind and snow seemed to freeze and give way to him.

Wen Jin lifted his eyelids to look over.

A few steps away, inside the barrier of light, a person was already waiting.

Wen Tingyun sat quietly in his wheelchair, a thick silver fox fur draped over his knees. Behind him stood the imposing city gate and dozens of cultivators standing guard, their air thick with a palpable sense of menace.

He leisurely waved his newly replaced jade-bone fan, the smile on his face not reaching his eyes, "They actually came."

"When I was in Sunset City, you plucked my wings and broke my legs. Now that you've come alone, are you prepared to do the same as me?"

Wen Jin: "......"

He glanced casually at Wen Tingyun, then suddenly chuckled:

"I wonder what his expression would be if he saw his prized 'work' turned into this grotesque mess," the Demon Lord sneered. "It seems I made his death too easy."

Wen Tingyun froze as he waved his fan, the hatred deep in his eyes almost impossible to suppress.

But he managed to hold back.

The jade fan in his hand snapped shut. "Him? No matter how much you don't want to admit it, he is still your father."

Wen Tingyun lightly tapped his temple with the rib of his fan. "Yes, I broke my leg and became crippled. But how are you doing?"

"Your father despises you, your mother loathes you, even your name carries a nauseating, deathly scent. Those times in the Sunset City dungeons, with chains piercing your shoulders, must have been unpleasant."

"Wen Jin, you were imprisoned like a dog for so many years. Even after you ascended the throne, who in the Demon Clan truly confides in you?"

Wen Tingyun leaned forward, through the barrier, "Does a monster like you, who crawled out of hell, really understand love? If Huali knew you killed your brother, murdered your father, and disowned your own family, would she still..."

"Oh."

His words were interrupted by the cold laugh of the ice bead falling to the ground.

Instead of flying into a rage, Wen Jin looked at him with a chilling, all-seeing mockery.

Is that all there is to your performance?

"Deliberately provoking me and luring me into the barrier before me is far from enough..."

Wen Tingyun was taken aback.

Before he could refute, Wen Jin suddenly moved!

"Buzz—"

The moment the Demon Lord stepped into the barrier, the translucent light curtain instantly turned into solidified blood-red, and countless ancient runes swirled wildly like venomous snakes.

The spiritual energy on the city wall also swept over.

But Wen Jin didn't even look. The Nine Spirits Netherfire ignited from beneath his feet, and the pressure from the Integration Stage suddenly descended.

Under the absolute power, the spiritual energy ruthlessly transformed into scattered ice crystals.

Wen Tingyun's eyes widened, "The Integration Period... uh..."

Wen Jin grabbed his neck.

"You think," the voice was low and weary, yet carried an oppressive air of impending storm, "that I would come because of your ridiculous provocation?"

Wen Jin turned his head, his contempt undisguised.

"Wen Tingyun, you have made a mistake."

"You shouldn't have used her name."

"Whatever your purpose is—whether it's to lure me into a trap or to sow discord... you shouldn't have sent the letter to her."

"What's even more inappropriate is letting her name pass through the schemes of someone like you."

Wen Jin tightened his grip. "I don't care how many ambushes you've set up, nor do I care what you intend to do. But I will not allow—"

"Anyone, in any form, uses her."

"Stay away from her. This is my final warning to you."

Wen Tingyun remained silent for a few seconds, but instead of feeling fear, he chuckled softly.

"Hehe...hehehe..."

He raised his hand and grabbed Wen Jin's wrist, which was gripping his neck. A near-radiant smile appeared on his face as he suffocated. "Kill me! Kill me!"

"Kill me, and I will leave the deepest mark on Karin's heart! You'd better do it now! I love her too, just as much as you do!"

The words had barely left his mouth—

Both of them simultaneously sensed the spiritual energy fluctuations approaching from behind.

A glint flashed in Wen Jin's eyes.

"Killing you would be too easy for you." The Demon Lord's deliberately lowered voice carried a languid cruelty. "Living a wretched life is what you should be like."

After speaking, Wen Jin suddenly released his grip on Wen Tingyun's neck, letting the spiritual power that Wen Tingyun had just suppressed rush towards him—

"Wen Jin!"

Before they could even get close, familiar vines had already wrapped around the Demon Lord's waist, quickly pulling them out of the barrier!

After checking him over and confirming that he was alright, Hua Li angrily yelled at Wen Tingyun, "So many of you bullied Wen Jin himself? Shameless!"

Wen Tingyun: "..." His smile froze, and he suddenly looked at the instigator.

Huali rolled up her sleeves and sneered, "Still watching? Want to fight? Today, this old lady..."

"Huali," Wen Jin suddenly spoke up, "I'm injured."

Karin immediately turned her head, "Where?"

Wen Jin stopped her from examining him, his raven-feather eyelashes casting small shadows, and slowly said, "Let's go back to Sunset City first."
