Chapter 15 Escape from Death, Buddha's Child, Wake Up!
As their lips met, Lian Zhuo tasted a metallic sweetness reminiscent of rust.
He quickly closed his eyes, and before he could even utter the Shurangama Mantra, the icicles in his mind broke off first, and the crystal-clear shards rolled over the new green that broke through the ice layer.
The tender seedlings quickly sprouted branches and grew taller, and in the blink of an eye, they grew into a large tree with lush branches and leaves, and buds ready to bloom.
Seeing that Lian Zhuo was still uncooperative, Hua Li bit his lower lip with her canine teeth, forcing him to open his mouth and pass the remaining blood over to him.
The frenzied blood gu receded like a tide, only to return in an even more ferocious manner in the next instant.
The Blood Gu spirit was restless and lingered, unable to let go of her warmth.
A struggle flashed in Lian Zhuo's eyes, but it was completely replaced by crimson the next second. The red and white lotus pattern reappeared between her brows, and the two hands that had been trying to restrain themselves and follow the rules of propriety gripped her waist tightly.
It was too late when Huali realized something was wrong. Lianzhuo restrained Huali's hands, trapped her between his bodies, and swallowed the bloody taste in her mouth one by one.
Their lips and tongues intertwined, causing blood and foam to choke Huali in her throat. She coughed, and the loud gust of wind in her ears made her body lean back uncontrollably.
The Bifang behind them flew into a rage, its wings like a category 18 tornado, sweeping in with flying sand and stones accompanied by flames.
Wherever the wind passes, it destroys everything in its path, even uprooting the earth.
They are both injured right now, and if they get caught up in this, they'll probably be reduced to ashes.
"Huali, jump!" Tang Wanwan's voice rang out from the other side.
"This Bifang has already reached the mid-Nascent Soul stage. The two of you are no match for it. Jumping might give you a sliver of hope, but if you don't, you'll die instantly!"
"I can only buy you a few seconds, hurry up!"
Tang Wanwan pulled out a crescent bow imbued with spiritual energy, the bow and arrow growing larger and larger. "This is the Nine Moon Bow, a celestial artifact forged from the beak bone of a nine-headed bird struck by nine bolts of heavenly lightning. It's my life-saving charm!" she shouted as she drew the bow with both hands and feet. "Father! My survival this time depends on you!"
The surrounding spiritual energy twisted and converged into a sharp sword, piercing through Bifang's wings with overwhelming force.
Huali closed her eyes, grabbed Lianzhuo, and jumped off the mountaintop.
At the same time, Ao Bai leaped into the Qiankun bag at Hua Li's waist and disappeared.
*
In an instant, the wind howled and pebbles fell one after another, while the roar of the Bifang overhead grew farther and farther away.
In mid-air, Lian Zhuo opened her eyes, and a string of red Buddhist beads condensed in her palm and wrapped around Hua Li's waist.
Their positions were instantly reversed.
"Don't move." Lian Zhuo's voice was mixed with blood and foam. His blood-red cassock quickly burned to ashes as he fell. The wounds inflicted by Qiongqi were torn open and bleeding continuously. His body was covered with countless wounds, with not a single unscathed spot.
Huali struggled to lift her head, but Lianzhuo pressed her down into the crook of her neck. Where she couldn't see, Lianzhuo's eyes changed, and she reached out and slit her throat, the blood droplets forming a magical barrier.
A torrential downpour of Sanskrit blood chains shot out from his body, completely enveloping Huali in his arms, and the two of them crashed straight to the bottom of the lake.
Lian Zhuo vomited a mouthful of blood, staining the lake red. Fish swarmed to the lake, eagerly swallowing this once-in-a-century treasure.
The lotus pattern between her brows appeared and disappeared, and Lian Zhuo opened her eyes, letting her body continue to sink.
Bodhi has no tree, nor is the bright mirror a stand.
The giant tree within his mind was a thought he shouldn't have entertained; he needed to calm down, to control himself, and to uproot it once again.
"Water-type cards, clean!"
A pair of hands caught his sinking body just in time, and the girl in red surged towards him like a beautiful water ghost. Lian Zhuo looked at her with a hint of something unreadable in his eyes. He slowly reached out, and just as he was about to touch the girl's cheek, his heart ached terribly.
Unable to suppress his desires, the Buddhist disciple slowly closed his eyes.
Inside the Buddhist temple, the sound of copper bells on the eaves rang out, and Liaowu, who was meditating on a futon, looked at the fluttering prayer flags.
The doors and windows inside the hall were tightly closed. It was not the wind or the banners that moved, but the heart of the benevolent one.
"Amitabha, the tribulation of love has finally arrived."
Using the power of the water-type card, Huali lifted Lianzhuo out of the water and swam towards the shore.
After doing all this, she was completely exhausted. She staggered a few steps, her vision went black, and she fainted completely.
*
At the mountaintop, the demon-slaying formation continued to operate.
Trapped inside, Bifang cursed repeatedly, "You hypocritical cultivators, once I get out, I'll skin you alive... Ouch! My tail! You actually hurt my tail!"
The middle-aged man at the head of the group sneered, "Bi Fang, as one of the four rulers of the Holy Capital Demon Realm, not only have you failed to manage your demon spirits, but you also dare to come to my cultivation world to kill people. Aren't you afraid of being punished by the Demon King!"
Upon hearing these two words, Bi Fang, who had been shouting incessantly, immediately bristled with anger. "Bullshit! I'm recovering from my injuries perfectly well. It was that bald monk who took advantage of the situation to steal my heart's blood! You're quite good at turning the tables."
Tang Yu, the sect leader of the Spirit Sword Sect, had lived for hundreds of years and had never been insulted to his face before. His eyebrows immediately furrowed, and his angry expression was exactly the same as Tang Wanwan's. "How dare you spout such nonsense! Beat him!"
"Awooo!!!"
Mo Ziyan helped Tang Wanwan up, looking her up and down with concern, and asked, "Junior Sister Wanwan, are you injured?"
Tang Wanwan waved her hand: "It's just that my spiritual energy is depleted, I'll be fine after a while." The harrowing night had left her mentally exhausted, and it took her a while to remember: "Oh right, Huali and the others fell off the cliff."
Mo Ziyan was taken aback upon hearing this, "Fell off a cliff?"
Tang Wanwan quickly described the situation in detail. For some reason, she felt guilty and automatically deleted the part about Huali being hugged by Lianzhuo. "I'll ask Father to send someone to look for her right away."
Before Mo Ziyan could speak, Tang Wanwan had already run to Tang Yu's side, "Dad, my friends have fallen off a cliff, please send someone to rescue them quickly."
Tang Yu could hardly bear to look at Tang Wanwan, who was covered in tattered clothes.
The eldest daughter, who was so radiant when she left home, had become this disheveled state in just half a month. Even as the dignified leader of a sect, he couldn't help but want to curse.
"Alright, alright, Father will go find it right away." Tang Yu reached out and patted his daughter's head, instantly making Tang Wanwan look refreshed. "There is a mirror lake at the bottom of the cliff. Father traveled there many years ago. If your friend is lucky, he should be able to save his life."
But what he didn't say was that various monsters lurked below, making it a place fraught with danger.
Don't let children worry about adult matters.
Upon hearing this, Tang Wanwan finally breathed a sigh of relief. In that instant of relaxation, her body went limp and she fainted.
*
"Host, host, wake up."
Huali was awakened by dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves. Aobai was nudging her face with his claws. Seeing this, he breathed a sigh of relief, "Host, you're finally awake."
Karin stared blankly at the light shimmering in her palm through the intertwined aerial roots of the banyan tree overhead, then suddenly burst out laughing.
"Ha...hahaha! He's still alive?" Even Bear Grylls would have to say it's awesome.
The blue-crowned magpie above her head flapped its wings and took flight. Huali struggled to sit up, and when she touched the string of red Buddhist beads at her waist, her laughter abruptly stopped.
Memories of what happened before she fell into a coma flooded back, and she quickly asked, "Where's Lianzhuo?"
Ao Bai pointed with his paw to the tree three zhang away, "You two are too heavy, I can't move you at all, I can only barely drag you here."
Lian Zhuo lay naked on the ground, the lotus pattern between his eyebrows faded to the point of being invisible, his skin torn and bleeding, wrapped in water plants, making him look even more ferocious.
Ao Bai quickly said, "When he jumped off the cliff, in order to save the host, he used his own flesh and blood as a bond to create a blood chain of talismans, making him no different from an ordinary person for a short period of time."
"Lian Zhuo? Lian Zhuo?" Hua Li immediately crawled over and placed her hand on his nose. She heard his faint breathing. "You scared me to death. Thank goodness, there's still hope."
Huali searched her Qiankun bag for a long time, but all she found were women's clothes. What should she do?
Oh well, there's nobody here anyway, and besides, a gentleman doesn't concern himself with trifles, so it's fine.
After brainwashing herself, Huali felt perfectly justified in draping her outer robe over Lianzhuo's body.
You know what, when someone is handsome, even wearing a burlap sack looks good on them.
After finding some amusement amidst her misery, Huali pulled out a wood-type card and used vines to wrap Lianzhuo around herself, then stumbled forward.
While the two were unconscious, Ao Bai had already searched the surrounding area. "This place is a primeval forest, rarely visited by humans, and full of monsters. We'd better be careful."
"There is a cave ahead. Host, go there and hide first."
