Chapter 10 Brother Yan

Wen Xi waved her hand dismissively, "Officer, please arrest the human traffickers and interrogate them thoroughly. Find out where their accomplices are hiding to prevent further victims. As for any other words of thanks, we can talk about them later!"

Wenxi did indeed save Lili, so she wouldn't say things like "it's what I should do." Many people saw the human traffickers kidnapping Lili along the way, but did anyone do anything about it?

Does everyone really have absolutely no doubt about this old woman?

Or is it that everyone is indifferent to this matter?

She was so kind to save Lili, and she might even be able to expose the human traffickers behind it. That would indeed be a great achievement, so why would she refuse?

What's meant to be hers will be hers.

She doesn't want this comrade to repay her; she just wants him to go to the countryside to intimidate those who want to scheme against her. Isn't that a bit much?

Besides, aren't connections meant to be used?

"Comrade, could you please look after Lili? Take her to the police station first; it's near the post office." Yan Zheng entrusted Yan Lili to Wen Xi.

Wen Xi pulled Yan Lili over and said very sensibly, "Officer, you can handle the human traffickers' matter with peace of mind! I will take good care of Lili."

Afterwards, Wen Xi pulled Yan Lili away first, otherwise if the human traffickers hiding in the shadows saw her with the police and human traffickers, she would probably suffer retaliation.

Yan Zheng probably considered this when he asked her and Yan Lili to leave first.

Moreover, as an eyewitness, Wenxi also has to go to the police station to give a statement.

The sight of Wen Xi leading Yan Lili away was like a graceful arc that swept across his heart. A fleeting, almost imperceptible tenderness flashed across Yan Zheng's eyes, but when his gaze fell on the old woman on the ground, it instantly turned several degrees cold. He took out handcuffs, cuffed her hands, and helped her walk towards the police station.

Wen Xi led Yan Lili into the police station. The two not-so-old people who were sitting on the chairs in the police station crying immediately rushed over, hugged Yan Lili, and burst into tears.

Yan Lili also started crying. After crying for a long time, she choked out, "Grandpa and Grandma, Lili was just drugged and kidnapped by a bad guy. This sister saw it and saved me."

The two elderly people then noticed Wenxi and thanked her repeatedly, "Young lady, thank you for saving our Lili, otherwise we..."

"Thank you, you didn't just save Lili, you saved our whole family..."

Their son and daughter-in-law are contributing to the country and don't even have time to rest, while they are taking care of their worries in the rear, but they can't even take good care of their children. They feel guilty!

Just as Wen Xi was about to say something, Yan Zheng returned with the human traffickers. Wen Xi communicated with the system in her mind: "System, wake her up and make her expose the human trafficker gang behind her, otherwise your master will be in danger."

Then, the human trafficker in Yan Zheng's hands slowly woke up. Seeing that she was in a police station, she screamed in terror. Yan Zheng immediately sent her into the interrogation room, ignored her screams, and placed her directly in the interrogation chair. Then he called someone over to interrogate her.

“Comrade, we need to take your statement as usual, so…” Yan Zheng came out of the interrogation room and stood in front of Wen Xi. Afraid of frightening her, he made sure to relax his expression.

“I understand. As the only eyewitness, I do need to give a statement to prove my innocence.” The alley was deserted, and she was alone with the human trafficker. People might think she was part of a human trafficking gang, so giving a statement was the right thing to do.

Wen Xi followed Yan Zheng into the office and sat in the seat he had arranged for her. Yan Zheng poured her a glass of water and handed it to her, saying softly, "Just tell the truth in a moment, don't be nervous."

If she were truly just a sixteen-year-old girl, she might be nervous in such a solemn and dignified police station, facing the impartial and incorruptible police officers. But she was reborn, and she knew that the police officers and soldiers were the ones who could bring people a sense of security in this world, and that everyone's peaceful life was brought about by them. Naturally, she was not nervous.

Yan Zheng walked to the opposite side of Wenxi, sat down, picked up a pen, and began to ask questions according to regulations.

“I’m an educated youth sent to the countryside, in Dongfang Commune of Kaiming County. I just settled in the village yesterday, and came to town today to replenish my supplies. I had just bought the things and came out of the supply and marketing cooperative when I saw an old woman holding a delicate little child. I noticed that the two of them looked completely mismatched, and the old woman didn’t seem like the type to raise such a delicate child. Plus, the child was completely still, like it had been drugged, so I followed it…”

Wen Xi explained the situation to Yan Zheng so that he could easily find out that she had just arrived and couldn't possibly have any connection with human traffickers.

After giving his statement, Yan Zheng handed a piece of paper to Wen Xi. "Comrade Wen, it must have been tough for you to be away from your parents and family, far from home. This is my address and phone number. If you need anything, just call me or come to my house. Once I'm done with this busy period, I'll personally bring Lili to thank you. Let everyone know that you have someone protecting you, and no one will dare to bully you."

Yan Zheng knew a bit about what happened in the countryside. Many people there were illiterate and didn't understand the law, so they would do outrageous things. He didn't want to see the little girl get hurt in any way.

It could be said that Yan Zheng's words struck a chord with Wen Xi, so Wen Xi didn't refuse. Instead, she reached out and took the contact information from Yan Zheng's hand, saying, "Comrade Yan, thank you."

"Comrade Wen saved my Lili, and he's like family to us. If you don't mind, Comrade Wen, please call me Brother Yan from now on!"

Yan Zheng stared at Wen Xi, looking into her big, round, watery eyes, and cautiously opened his mouth. After saying what he wanted to say, his heart was in his throat.

Upon hearing this, Wen Xi was overjoyed. As if afraid that Yan Zheng would change his mind, she quickly called out in a clear voice, "Brother Yan."

She, Shen Jiaojiao, and Jiang Yue were all alone in the countryside, isolated and helpless. Anyone in the village could kick them while they were down. If they had any conflicts with the villagers, Captain Qian would not stand on their side because they were outsiders.

Now that they know Yan Zheng, anyone who wants to bully them has to think twice. Even Captain Qian has to give Yan Zheng some face.

Upon hearing the crisp "Brother Yan," Yan Zheng felt he had never heard such a pleasant voice before, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but turn up slightly. "Comrade Wen, may I call you Xiaoxi from now on?"
