Chapter 304 Not a World

Qin Mi's mood instantly brightened, and he hurriedly ran towards Wenxi.

Wen Xi waved her hand, "Qin Mi, what are you doing? Why are you so slow?"

Qin Mi didn't explain, but changed the subject, "Liangliang, I never thought you really were the Mountain Goddess."

"You don't believe me? If you don't believe me, why are you making a deal with me?" Wen Xi handed two large white steamed buns to Qin Mi. "I've been busy all day and haven't eaten. I'm starving. Eat something!"

Then Qin Mi used her chopsticks to pick up a piece of spicy pig ear from the bowl. She glanced at the bowl and saw that it contained a platter of braised dishes, including pig ears, pig head meat, pork intestines, chicken legs, and some vegetables.

Qin Mi didn't respond. It wasn't that he didn't believe Wen Xi, but he was still fantasizing that Wen Xi wasn't the Mountain Goddess. He never expected that she really was a deity, someone from a different world than him.

Watching the girl sitting across from me, her hair blowing in the evening breeze, her cheeks flushed from a busy day, I was truly breathtakingly beautiful.

The thought of their inevitable separation sent a sharp, piercing pain through Qin Mi's heart. He tried to shake off these thoughts, picked up a piece of pig's ear, and stuffed it into his mouth. It was spicy, savory, and crisp, with a wonderfully rich flavor.

Then I took another bite of the white steamed bun; it was soft, fluffy, and incredibly fragrant.

After eating for a while, Qin Mi felt much better and looked at Wen Xi, "Liangliang, thank you for today."

"Why thank me? Didn't you exchange these things for them? It's clearly your achievement, but now you're trying to attribute it to the Mountain Goddess," Wen Xi said dismissively.

Although she brought out so much food, she didn't lose out, because the food was given by the system, and she was just a porter.

She used the food provided by the system to exchange for a batch of valuable items with Qin Mi, so in the end, she still made a profit.

"You don't mean you don't want to give it to me anymore, do you?" Wen Xi suddenly looked up at Qin Mi.

"How could that be? I've already contacted my family, and I'm just waiting for them to help collect it and send it to me," Qin Mi said firmly.

He is a man of his word, especially since the other party is out of the picture.

"That would be best." Wen Xi took out two more steamed buns and stuffed them into Qin Mi's hand. Men usually have a big appetite, so two buns probably wouldn't be enough to fill them up.

After finishing their late dinner, Qin Mi drove Wen Xi back to the desolate compound. As darkness fell, Wen Xi closed her eyes for a short rest.

She's been in this time and space for several days now, and she doesn't know how much time has passed in her original world. She wonders if anyone has noticed that she's gone, and if He Chen'an is worried or anxious because he hasn't received her reply.

It seems I should write more letters to Shen Jiaojiao in the future and ask her to deliver them to the postman when she's not home.

No, if her life continues like this, then she is not suitable for dating, much less for marriage, because she leaves so easily, which will cause a lot of trouble for the other person's life.

Like this time, because she had no identity, she pretended to be engaged to Qin Mi and even held a fake wedding. What will she do if she encounters a mission in the future that requires her to put on an act?

So she's better suited to being alone.

But she and He Chen'an were already dating, and they couldn't break up over these things. She didn't know if He Chen'an could accept it readily, but she herself couldn't bear to, because this was her first love in two lifetimes, and He Chen'an was her first love. Most importantly, she didn't like any other men besides He Chen'an at the moment.

The future is uncertain, and she shouldn't make any decisions too early. After all, no one knows whether tomorrow or an accident will come first.

What if she died during the mission?

Lin Yiwan, despite having the protagonist's halo, was almost killed by Xia Minglei and Tang Xiaoyun. What about her? She's just a nobody with a sign-in system!

And what if she can never go back?

Lost in thought, Wenxi fell asleep. She didn't wake up until the car drove into the company's courtyard. Qin Mi didn't wake her either, but instead carried her out of the car and took her home.

Wang Xiao got up to use the restroom in the middle of the night. As soon as she came out, she saw Qin Mi's tall and strong figure holding the petite but slender Wen Xi. She was immediately filled with jealousy and her eyes welled up with tears.

If it weren't for Liangliang's sudden appearance, Qin Mi, such a good man, would have been hers. But now, Liangliang has ruined everything.

A glint of malice flashed in Wang Xiao's eyes before she returned home.

Qin Mi carried Wen Xi back to the room, placed her on the kang (a heated brick bed), lit an oil lamp, poured some warm water, and came over to wipe Wen Xi's hands and face. As for bathing her, he dared not overstep his bounds in front of the goddess.

The next morning, when Qin Mi went to the cafeteria to get food, Wen Xi brought two bowls of corn and pork dumplings from the system kitchen. She wanted to eat dumplings herself. Qin Mi's portion had sixty dumplings, and hers had fifteen, because she was full after eating fifteen. Drinking some dumpling soup made her feel incredibly comfortable.

Watching Qin Mi eat dumplings one after another so quickly, Wen Xi couldn't help but chuckle. Qin Mi asked in confusion, "Liangliang, what's wrong?"

"I think you're very cute," Wen Xi said, sounding like a sunny and cheerful young man. I don't know why he was willing to work in such a tough place; maybe he came here to gain experience and hone his skills!

Qin Mi blushed uncomfortably. "Pure white dumplings, so delicious! And they even have meat in them, you can tell it's fresh pork just by tasting them."

Pure white flour dumplings are something many families don't even get to eat during the Lunar New Year, let alone meat dumplings.

Wen Xi smiled brightly, "I will take you to eat all kinds of delicious food before I go back."

Qin Mi was not happy to hear this, because he did not want her to leave, but he could not selfishly keep the goddess here, and the goddess was not someone he could keep.

After breakfast, the two set off for the second worst-affected village, but Uncle Wang and his group had already taken the car. Qin Mi had to borrow a bicycle and ride there with Wen Xi on the back.

There is little vegetation here, and the landscape is barren and desolate. There is also a lot of dust along the way, and the sky and the land are the same color, both grayish-yellow.

Wenxi took out two straw hats with veils, one for her and one for Qin Mi.

Upon arriving in the village, just like yesterday, I carried sweet potato porridge and went from house to house to learn about the situation. After taking a walk around the village, I performed a "goddess appearing" act, just like yesterday, to distribute water and food to everyone.

He didn't get back to Qin Mi's dormitory until evening.

Today is the third day, and also the day we agreed to pick up the grain. Uncle Wang knew they were going to pick up the grain today, so he didn't drive away, but instead rode bicycles with the other staff members.
