Chapter 589 has a reason

In the morning, the only sounds in the forest were the rustling of leaves, the flapping of birds' wings, and the sound of the waterfall—not a sound that Wenxi wanted to hear.

But there was no one moving around, the area was overgrown with weeds, and there were no signs of anyone having walked there. Wenxi didn't know which way to go, so she could only walk straight ahead, calling out as she went.

"Brother Qin..."

After searching for about half an hour, Qin Mi finally appeared before Wen Xi. Wen Xi stared at him with wide eyes and asked, "Brother Qin, where have you been?"

Qin Mi stepped forward, pulled Wen Xi into his arms, and hugged her tightly. "Xi, I'm sorry, I should have told you."

Wen Xi looked up at Qin Mi and asked, "Brother Qin, where have you been?"

"I just saw a rabbit, but it was already running away when I saw it, so I didn't chase it. Instead, I found a spot and dug a trap to see if I could catch a rabbit or a pheasant so we could have an extra meal," Qin Mi explained.

Whether it's pheasants or rabbits, Wenxi Warehouse has plenty. The rabbits were processed by Lin Yiwan, while the pheasants were stockpiled at Qin Mi's place. The owner there raises colorful wild pheasants, which are a type of pheasant, but since they are farmed, they are edible.

Wenxi immediately took all the items he could offer.

However, she couldn't conjure it up directly, and Qin Mi had already dug a trap, so she might be able to catch him. Therefore, she didn't need to take it out.

"Brother Qin, you really scared me to death! I thought something had happened to you!" Wen Xi said worriedly.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." Qin Mi ruffled Wen Xi's hair and then put his arm around her as they walked back. "Let's go catch some fish first, and then go back to the traps in a few hours to see if there's any prey."

Arriving at the stream, Wenxi threw the remaining stones into a spot where she hadn't thrown them before. After a while, she saw fish float to the surface, and crabs lay motionless on the pebbles at the bottom of the water.

Wen Xi went straight into the water and started catching fish without calling Qin Mi over, just to see how many fish Qin Mi could catch with his bare hands.

With her back to Qin Mi, Wen Xi would occasionally put the fish and crabs she caught into the warehouse. After all, she would be leaving this place at the end of the year, and if she didn't take them away, they would just go to someone else.

She only catches fish in this section and not in other places, so that the fish and crabs can continue to reproduce. Whoever discovers this place in the future will benefit from it.

However, it's so far from the village, there probably isn't anyone with the leisure or inclination to come here.

Aside from a few young people, they came here to have fun.

"Brother Qin, you can continue catching them here. I'm going to go cook something first." Wenxi said to Qin Mi, then went ashore and arrived at the place where they were preparing for a picnic. Wenxi put down her basket, then took a wooden bucket to the bottom of the waterfall to fetch a bucket of water. She carried it back, added some water to the iron pot, then put in the eggs and potatoes, and then started a fire to cook.

Once the fish and crabs in the basket had regained consciousness, Wenxi carried them down to the waterfall to process them. She first removed the scales and gills from the fish, then gutted them. After processing them all, she marinated the fish, which she could then grill or fry later.

Then they started cleaning the large crabs. The crabs, which grew up in the mountain streams, were clean and easy to wash. It was not troublesome at all.

While Wenxi was washing the crabs, Qin Mi walked over. Wenxi asked curiously, "Brother Qin, how many have you caught?"

"Not many were caught."

Wenxi glanced into the basket and saw that he hadn't caught many fish; he guessed that there weren't many fish left in the area where Qin Mi had been fishing.

Wenxi pointed to her basket, "It's okay, I caught a lot, enough for us to eat."

The two of them finished processing the fish and crabs together and went back. By then, the eggs and potatoes in the pot had been cooked. Qin Mi took the eggs and potatoes out and set them aside.

After washing the iron pot again and adding water, Wenxi put the large crab in, along with some scallions, ginger, garlic, and cooking wine. She then put the lid on and the two of them sat on the mat to rest.

Wenxi rested her head on Qin Mi's lap, gazing at the leaves overhead. Although the sunlight couldn't penetrate, rays occasionally shone through the gaps in the leaves that fluttered in the wind, so bright that it was hard to open one's eyes.

Qin Mi placed his hand on Wen Xi's shoulder and looked at her earnestly, "Xi, as long as I can be with you, I feel incredibly happy."

“Brother Qin, me too,” Wen Xi said with a smile.

Qin Mi lowered his head and kissed the corner of Wen Xi's lips. "Xi, it's so good to have you. You let me know that I haven't lived in vain."

"That's an exaggeration," Wen Xi said, but she felt exceptionally sweet and happy inside.

She sat up, hugged Qin Mi, and kissed him. Qin Mi then reached out and tightly embraced Wen Xi. A gentle breeze blew through the forest, making it very cool. The waterfall in the distance cascaded down, and everything was so beautiful.

After a long while, they let go of each other, gazing at one another with affection in their eyes. Qin Mi pulled Wen Xi into his arms and held her tightly.

He was truly head over heels in love with her, wishing he could marry her right now and possess her completely, so he wouldn't have to worry about anyone else taking her away.

"The crabs are ready." Wen Xi nudged Qin Mi, who had been holding her in this sweltering heat without complaining.

Qin Mi released Wen Xi, scooped the crabs out of the pot, let them cool, and then the two of them ate them.

Qin Mi, "Would you like to take some crabs back for your friends to eat?"

Wenxi nodded, "While you go to see the prey, I'll go catch crabs. We can catch a lot in no time."

A few hours later, Qin Mi carried a basket to the trap he had made, while Wen Xi took a basket to the stream, threw stones dipped in fish narcotics into the water, and waited by the side. When she saw fish come up, Wen Xi went into the water to catch them.

After a while, Qin Mi returned with three pheasants and two rabbits in his basket. Wen Xi excitedly gave him a thumbs up, "Brother Qin, you are really amazing! You caught so many prey. I never thought of coming to the mountain to hunt!"

The main reason is that she already has too much stuff in her own warehouse, so she doesn't need to go up the mountain to hunt at all.

Upon receiving praise from his lover, Qin Mi couldn't suppress the upward curve of his lips. He was still just a mortal and needed his lover's approval. Hearing Wen Xi's words, Qin Mi hurriedly said, "Xi, just tell me what you want to eat, and I'll arrange it. Please don't go hunting in the mountains by yourself; it's too dangerous."

Even though there are no large wild beasts, he would still feel bad if his child got hurt.

Wen Xi smiled and said, "Don't worry, I won't come up the mountain to hunt by myself. I can trade with someone else."

This gives them a reason to take things out of their warehouse.
