Chapter 617

“Since I came here, I’ve rarely taken a break. I could rest for a day or even several days without any problems, but I didn’t want to put my colleagues in a difficult position, so I took a day off,” Jin Changfeng said.

He only takes a day off when he exchanges or sends things to Wenxi, and he doesn't send things to Wenxi very often, which shows how few times he takes a break.

Now that Wenxi has come all this way to bring them so many things, why don't you take a day off and take Wenxi out for a good stroll?

Other people take leave to go home and visit their families, but he didn't even go back when his sister gave birth. What is he going to do now that he has a day off?

However, it was because of Wen Xi, a reliable person, that Jin Changfeng did not ask for leave. He wanted to save his vacation days and take a long vacation sometime to go back and spend time with his family.

After hearing Jin Changfeng's words, Wen Xi nodded in relief. After Jin Changfeng left, she went back to her room to rest. The time difference between the two places was different. Although it was not dark here, it was already dark in Kaiming County. It should be late at night now, so Wen Xi did not call Qin Mi.

I'll call Qin Mi tomorrow morning when he's at work and tell him not to worry.

Wen Xi locked the door to the room, placed the cabinet behind her, and then slipped into the system warehouse to start sorting out the items to exchange. There was no shortage of fruits, vegetables, or beef and mutton here, so she could only exchange other things.

After tidying up for a while, Wenxi went to the system kitchen to wash up. Afterwards, she came out and lay on the bed to rest. She realized that she hadn't signed in for a long time. Just as she was about to sign in, the sign-in system issued a task to Wenxi.

Wen Xi quickly tidied her clothes and then clicked 'teleport'.

The next second, she found herself in a desert where all she could see was yellow sand. The wind and sand were strong and howling. Wenxi quickly flashed into the system warehouse, readjusted herself, and then came out again.

Ahead lay some broken walls and ruins, likely the remains of an ancient city from many years ago. Following the arrows from the system, Wenxi headed forward.

Upon reaching the other side of the ruins, Wenxi saw a man leaning against them, barely breathing. He was dressed in rags, looking disheveled, and his face was filthy, making it difficult for Wenxi to discern his features.

The sign-in system wouldn't let her help random people, so this man must be a geologist or an exploration team member. Wen Xi didn't delay, but quickly stepped forward, took out a bottle of water, fed him some water first, and then fed him some glucose solution to replenish his strength.

"Fairy... Fairy..."

The man groggily opened his eyes, and a beautiful figure appeared in his blurry vision, like the most beautiful scenery in the desert.

"Comrade, what time is it? You still have time to joke?" Wen Xi smiled faintly, then took out two meat buns from the system kitchen from under her backpack and handed them over. "Comrade, eat something first to fill your stomach, and then we'll figure out how to leave here. It's deserted and the temperature is too high. It's too dangerous."

If Wenxi hadn't come, I guess if I had stayed out in the sun for a few more hours, I would have turned into a dried fish.

"Thank you, fairy." The man ate the meat buns in big bites, his mouth full, and still managed to say something.

Wen Xi knew that even if he recovered his strength, it would be very difficult for him to get out of this no-man's-land. So she walked behind the broken walls and ruins, carried the man on her back, took out a tent like the ones used at fruit stalls, moved it to the man's side, and set it up there to block out the strong light. Then she took out a solar-powered fan, placed it on the ground, and blew it into the tent.

Now the man was even more convinced that Wenxi was a fairy; otherwise, how could a young girl like her have brought such a heavy thing here?

"Comrade, have you eaten enough?" Wenxi asked worriedly.

Since he was her mission target, she definitely had to get him safely out of this no-man's land. Otherwise, what if something happened to him after she left?

The man shook his head sheepishly, so Wenxi took out two more meat buns for him and a bottle of water. Eating without drinking would be too dry.

The temperature difference in the desert is huge. It's very hot during the day, but as it gets dark, the temperature drops rapidly. Wenxi went behind the ruins and took out his sleeping tent and warm sleeping bag.

She took two of them, since they were in a no-man's-land and she couldn't just disappear in front of the men, so she had no choice but to sleep in the tent.

After Wenxi handed the tent to the man, the two of them set up their own tents and then went inside to rest.

Wen Xi slipped out of the tent into the system kitchen, washed up, ate something, and rested there. When the alarm rang, she got up and went to the system warehouse to start organizing things.

In this mission world, she doesn't know if she can earn money. She might put in effort but not get anything in return, but that doesn't matter. As long as she can earn energy, that's fine. Otherwise, what if the sign-in system stops working later?

After all, she has a kitchen, machines, and a fishpond, all of which require energy to maintain.

Wenxi didn't leave the system warehouse until it was almost dawn outside. Then she lay down in her sleeping bag and just lay there quietly, doing nothing.

When she heard sounds coming from the tent next door, Wenxi got up and tidied herself up. After that, she took her breakfast and went out.

After a night's rest, the man was in much better condition and didn't look like he was about to die like he did yesterday. Wenxi handed him breakfast and said, "Comrade, have some breakfast first!"

"Thank you, fairy." In the man's eyes, a little girl who could appear alone in this deserted area and even take out so many things must be no ordinary person.

Wen Xi smiled faintly, then went to pack up the tent. "Comrade, are you planning to rest for another day, or are you planning to continue your journey?"

"Let's get going, I've already wasted too much time out here." The man said while eating breakfast. "Fairy, thank you so much. If it weren't for you, I would have died in this desert by now."

Wen Xi nodded. It was indeed the sign-in system that brought her to save him yesterday, otherwise he would have died here. As for why he was here, Wen Xi would not ask about such things, lest the other party think she had ulterior motives.

After the man finished breakfast, he came over to help pack. Since they didn't know where the man was headed, and they might need these things along the way, Wenxi didn't put them in the warehouse. Instead, she packed them up and the two of them carried them on their journey.
