"He Qing, are you feeling better?" The person's voice was gentle, and their light brown eyes showed obvious concern.
"Why are you here, Jiang Mu?" Mu Heqing asked.
Jiang Mu probably doesn't know she's in the hospital.
“He Qing, Jiang Kaicheng is my older brother,” Jiang Mu said.
God knows how worried he was.
He rarely returned to the Jiang family home, and there he saw a distraught Jiang Kaicheng.
He casually asked Jiang Kaicheng what had happened.
Jiang Kaicheng rattled off a whole bunch of nonsense to him, saying things like terrorists had broken into the Guihui Building, a girl almost died protecting him, and he wanted to recognize that girl as his sister.
Jiang Mu assumed Jiang Kaicheng was exaggerating. How could Guihui possibly have terrorists? He guessed it was just some employee dissatisfaction that had erupted within Guihui.
He didn't take it seriously.
Until he heard Mu Heqing's name from Jiang Kaicheng.
He was only gone for a short while, how could so many things have happened?
After learning from Jiang Kaicheng that Mu Heqing was still staying at Dongqian Hospital, he rushed over without stopping.
He couldn't understand how Mu Heqing, an ordinary girl, could encounter so many bizarre things.
"Huh? Jiang Kaicheng is your brother? You're his younger brother?" Mu Heqing was shocked.
She had just finished listening to Jiang Kaicheng tell their story in the Guihui Building, and unexpectedly, one of the main characters in the story was Jiang Mu.
The younger brother Jiang Kaicheng described was slightly different from the Jiang Mu she knew. It sounded like Jiang Kaicheng's brother should be a calm and collected person, whose expression would not change no matter what happened.
Jiang Mu, who was standing in front of her, looked very worried about her.
“Yes, the world is so small, I didn’t expect it either.” Jiang Mu didn’t expect that Jiang Kaicheng and Mu Heqing could get in touch.
I wonder if Jiang Kaicheng ever described him to Mu Heqing.
He rushed to the hospital without even asking.
Mu and Qing sorted out the relationships: Ouyang Zhu was Jiang Mu's father's ex-wife, and Jiang Kaicheng was Jiang Mu's half-brother.
Wow, what a small world. Mu and Qing exclaimed in amazement.
“He Qing, I know you have your own privacy, and I don’t want to pry into your privacy anymore, but what you’re doing is really worrying.” Jiang Mu frowned.
Mu Heqing pursed her lips. She was touched by Jiang Mu's concern. They hadn't known each other for long, and their initial conflict stemmed from the Kyushu Manor.
I thought we'd never meet again in this lifetime, but we've met again and again, and our relationship has actually developed to this point.
Isn't that a bit too intimate?
She doesn't seem to know much about Jiang Mu; she only found out today that he and Jiang Kaicheng are related by blood.
Mu and Qing knew nothing about his work, his family, or his experiences.
Jiang Mu's apparent goodwill was merely superficial, which was the reason for her repeated suspicions.
She shouldn't think that way; Jiang Mu really did help her a lot.
Moreover, she couldn't let Jiang Mu know what had happened. If she truly considered him a friend, she should keep quiet.
She didn't let her parents know, she didn't let her friends know, and naturally she wouldn't let Jiang Mu know.
But Jiang Mu added, "When I entered the hospital, I saw a man standing downstairs in the ward. He was looking up at one direction, very intently."
What?
Mu and Qing were puzzled as to why Jiang Mu brought this up out of the blue.
“At the time, although I was curious about what he was looking at, I was more worried about you. I went into your ward and saw that you were sleeping, so I didn’t disturb you. Later, I walked to the window and was about to draw the curtains a little when I met that man’s gaze. That’s when I realized that he had been watching you the whole time.” Jiang Mu’s voice was very soft and emotionless.
Mu Heqing gripped the blanket tightly and asked, "Are you looking at me?"
Who could it be? Didn't Nightmare leave?
He walked to the window of the ward, his right hand slightly pressed against the curtain, looking down at the man who was still downstairs.
"He wasn't wearing a shirt and had tattoos on his arms. Do you know him? He Qing."
It really was a nightmare; she thought he was gone.
Should she answer whether she knows him or not?
"I saw you hadn't woken up, so I went downstairs to look for him." Jiang Mu turned around, revealing a slight smile, but as the setting sun faded outside the window, his smile seemed too insincere.
"You went to see him?" Mu Heqing was really startled this time. Bao Yan had a bad temper and looked very dangerous. Most people would avoid him.
Jiang Mu actually went directly to him.
“He keeps staring at your ward, and I’m very worried. I need to find out who he is.”
Jiang Mu walked to Mu Heqing's bedside and sat on her hospital bed.
Mu Heqing couldn't sit up; she remained lying flat. Jiang Mu supported himself on the edge of Mu Heqing's pillow with one hand.
Their eyes met.
Mu and Qing gripped the blankets tightly; they were too close to each other right now.
"I asked him why he kept looking in your direction. Guess what he said?"
"say what?"
“He said he would keep watching over you so you wouldn’t disappear,” Jiang Mu said, emphasizing each word.
Mu Heqing felt that she and Jiang Mu were really too close. She could feel his breath and smell his faint, warm fragrance.
"What do you think, Qing? I thought he was too arrogant back then. Are you very familiar with him?"
"It's alright," Mu Heqing replied reluctantly.
Jiang Mu and she were getting closer and closer; his forehead was almost touching hers.
"So it's okay, then we're not familiar with each other? I told him not to do anything that looked like spying, and that he would be unhappy. I asked him to leave and not to stand downstairs like that."
"You said that to him?" Mu Heqing swallowed hard.
"Yes, he seems very angry," Jiang Mu said helplessly.
"Are you alright? He didn't do anything to you, did he?" Mu Heqing was a little worried. With Bao Yan's personality, he might have killed Jiang Mu directly.
Jiang Mu looked away uneasily. "He's really scary. I just offered him some advice, and he acted like he was going to kill me. I felt like he was just a hair's breadth away from killing me. He Qing, I'm so worried. How could you have run into someone like that?"
Mu and Qing were once again terrified by Jiang Mu's reckless behavior. He was alright now, so the Nightmare probably didn't do anything to him.
She said to Jiang Mu seriously, "Don't do this anymore. It's really dangerous. What if he suddenly attacks and hurts someone?"
Is he in danger?
"Yes, although I don't know how to tell you, Jiang Mu, you'd better stay away from me." Mu Heqing had always thought Jiang Mu was a steady and prudent man, so it was surprising that he would say such things to Bao Yan.
What if the Nightmare sees him, suddenly gets angry, and hurts him?
He can no longer have contact with her.
"Is it related to the secrets you have? Like the bloodstains that suddenly disappeared from your clothes last time?" Jiang Mu brought up the incident at the hospital.
Mu Heqing stopped hiding it. Her expression was serious, and she decided to reveal something because she didn't want Jiang Mu to be hurt because of her.
"Jiang Mu, you've noticed too. Many inexplicable things have happened to me. I can't tell you, but I can tell you it's not good. I'm very grateful for your care these days, but stay away from me." Mu Heqing looked away, no longer looking at Jiang Mu.
The appearance of the Nightmare has made her situation extremely dangerous, and anyone who gets close to her may be implicated.
She wanted to stay away from friends and family.
Jiang Mu moved even closer to Mu and Qing, and this time, their foreheads were practically touching.
"Why? Just how terrible is he?" he asked.
"Jiang Mu! Stay away from me." Mu Heqing was not used to this distance, so she tilted her head.
She was angry.
What is their relationship now? Even if they are friends, they shouldn't be this close, especially since they are friends of the opposite sex.
"Heqing, you haven't asked me yet, what happened afterward?" Jiang Mu seemed not to have heard what Mu Heqing said.
By the way, why did the Nightmare let Jiang Mu go?
Mu and Qing also wanted to know.
"He's incredibly strong; he almost crushed my neck. He also has a lot of strange tattoos on his body." Jiang Mu was wearing a turtleneck today. He pulled down the collar, revealing a clear red handprint on his fair neck.
Mu Heqing hadn't noticed before; she stared blankly at the marks on Jiang Mu's neck.
The Nightmare really wanted to crush his neck.
"Jiang Mu, even after all this, you're acting like nothing happened! You almost died just now!" Mu Heqing's eyes widened in disbelief.
Jiang Mu chuckled softly a few times and said, "I asked him, 'Do you want to kill me? Then kill me. But when He Qing wakes up, she'll have to see her friend's corpse. I don't care about my death, but I don't want He Qing to be sad!'"
Mu Heqing was so shocked that she couldn't speak. Today was the first time she had truly gotten to know Jiang Mu.
"He let me go after I said that. I'm so grateful to you, otherwise I would have died." Jiang Mu had a look of relief, as if he had escaped death.
"Jiang Mu, you're playing with your life."
Mu Heqing's face darkened, and she pushed Jiang Mu, who was pressed against her face, away.
She was feeling frustrated. She thought she had met a decent, normal person, but it turned out to be another lunatic.
That's true. If a normal person saw so many strange things on her, they would either run away or call the police. Who would see her covered in blood and change her clothes?
"He Qing, why are you angry? I only asked him to leave. He's the one in danger, why are you angry with me?" Jiang Mu sat up straight, looking puzzled.
"You should leave, Jiang Mu."
Jiang Mu's personality is too dangerous. Doesn't he have any fear?
Is it because he was born this way, or is it due to his upbringing?
Jiang Kaicheng and he should have grown up in similar environments, so why didn't he turn out like him?
"Don't send me away, Qing. I know you're worried about me, aren't you?" Jiang Mu asked.
Mu and Qing remained silent.
"To be honest, I don't care." Jiang Mu's smile widened. "I don't care if he's in danger, and I don't care who's around you. I just want to help you, is that not okay?"
“But I care,” Mu Heqing said earnestly. “Don’t die in front of me.”
She didn't want to see someone she knew die in front of her; her mental resilience was already very low.
Jiang Mu's smile vanished abruptly. He stared out the window for a long while before finally saying, "I'm sorry, Qing, I scared you. I only wanted you to tell me about your troubles this way, but it seems it's backfired."
He looks much normal now, as if Jiang Mu just now was just an illusion.
"Thank you for coming to see me, please leave." Mu Heqing's fragile heart couldn't take any more shock.
“He Qing, if you don’t want to tell me, I won’t ask. If you don’t want me to contact those people, I won’t. But I’ve made you angry again. I finally got you to accept me, and I’ve made a mistake again, haven’t I?” Jiang Mu sounded a little sad.
Seeing that Mu and Qing were not talking to him, he stood up and said helplessly, "I'm leaving. You get some rest, He Qing."
He couldn't help but cough twice; his neck, which had been throbbing, was now finally acting up.
Mu Heqing raised her hand to cover her forehead, tugged at her hair, and finally sighed deeply.
"Does your neck still hurt? Have you seen a doctor?"
