Chapter 464 Interstellar Rebellion 3
The skinny man's feet were off the ground, and his neck was being tightly gripped by that large hand.
His face turned a deep purplish-red, his eyes bulged outwards due to lack of oxygen, and his hands weakly scratched at Buck's arm, leaving only a few white marks on the hard leather jacket.
"Uh...uh..."
He tried to speak, but only a broken bellows-like sound came from his throat.
Buck's face was expressionless, the scar contorting with the twitching of his muscles.
"Last chance."
"Who gave it to you?"
His voice wasn't loud, but it pierced the thin man's ears like shards of ice.
The fear of death loomed over him, and the light in the man's eyes was rapidly fading.
Just then, a calm female voice rang out in the office.
"I gave it to you."
The sound wasn't loud, but everyone in the office could hear it clearly.
Buck, who was choking the man, stopped and turned his head sharply in the direction from which the sound came.
There was someone standing at the office door, someone I didn't know had appeared at the time.
A woman.
A woman who was impossibly clean.
She just stood there quietly, as if she had always been there.
Buck can swear that a second ago, the place was absolutely empty.
His pupils contracted slightly; his instincts, honed from years of living on the edge, made him sense danger.
He let go.
"Thump."
The skinny man collapsed to the ground like a bag of garbage, greedily inhaling the air, coughing violently, his face covered in tears and snot.
Buck ignored the man on the ground; all his attention was focused on Zhou Jue.
He looked Zhou Jue up and down, his eyes filled with scrutiny and vigilance.
Who are you?
“Someone who wants to buy an identity.” Zhou Jue’s answer was simple and direct.
"Buy an identity?" Buck laughed. "Use an A+ grade military energy block to buy the lowest level of 'free citizen' identity?"
Do you take me for a fool, or do you think you're the fool?
As he spoke, he emerged from behind the table. He was tall, almost two heads taller than Zhou Jue, and his shadow completely enveloped Zhou Jue.
“I, Buck, know everyone on this planet who can produce something like this.”
"But you're not inside."
"So, who are you? A spy sent by the 'Inspector'? Or someone sent by the 'Vulture Gang' to test me?"
Zhou Jue did not answer his question, but simply looked at him calmly.
"I am nobody."
“I’m just someone who needs the status of a ‘free citizen.’ Name your price.”
She repeated her purpose.
Buck's smile vanished.
"Quite the boast."
"You came to my territory, fooled my people, and now you want to take things from me?"
The "person" he was referring to was the thin man on the ground whom he had almost strangled to death.
“I don’t like being long-winded,” Zhou Jue said.
"ha!"
"Ha ha ha ha!"
Buck burst into laughter as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world.
Laughter echoed in the cramped office, carrying a hint of madness.
The thin man on the ground trembled with fear at the laughter. He tried to get up and run away, but found his legs were as weak as noodles.
I like your courage.
Buck's laughter stopped abruptly.
"But on this garbage planet, having guts alone will get you killed very quickly."
Before he finished speaking, the energy pistol at his waist had already appeared in his hand, its dark muzzle pointed at Zhou Jue's forehead.
"Now, tell me, who are you!"
"Otherwise, your head will explode like a ripe melon."
A chilling killing intent instantly filled the entire room. The thin man on the ground had already closed his eyes, unable to bear looking any longer.
Zhou Jue looked at the gun and frowned: "If you want to trade in another way, that's fine too."
"What?"
Buck didn't understand what she meant.
The next second, he understood.
The energy pistol in his hand, the weapon made of special alloy that had accompanied him in killing countless people, suddenly emitted a "sizzling" sound.
Under Buck's horrified gaze, the hard gun barrel began to turn red, then twisted and melted like a candle.
Hot molten metal dripped onto the floor, emitting a pungent, burnt smell.
"ah!"
Buck screamed and flung his hand away. The gun, which was already beyond recognition, turned into a lump of molten iron and fell to the ground.
His right hand was burned and turned into a bloody mess.
Buck clutched his hand and stumbled backward, slamming his butt against the desk behind him. He looked at Zhou Jue, his eyes no longer filled with wariness, but with fear.
He didn't even see what the other person did.
His gun simply melted away.
What kind of ability is this?
Telekinesis? Superpowers? Mental strength? Or... a special power from some planet?
Whatever it is, he knows one thing clearly.
The seemingly harmless woman in front of him was someone he absolutely couldn't afford to offend.
"Now, can we have a proper talk?" Zhou Jue found a place to sit down.
"Sure! Of course!"
Ignoring the excruciating pain in his hand, Buck nodded repeatedly, his attitude undergoing a complete 180-degree change.
“What…what do you want? Anything I, Buck, have, you can take anytime!”
"Identity," Zhou Jue repeated.
“No problem! Absolutely no problem!” Buck endured the pain, took out a small data terminal from the drawer, and began to operate it.
"With the status of a 'free citizen,' you can move freely within the twelve demilitarized districts of the Federation. I'll get it done for you right away!"
"Sir, may I ask your name?"
"Zhou Jue".
Buck paused for a moment. The name was indeed different from theirs. It seemed that this person really was from another planet.
"Sir, it's all done. Now all that's left is the final genetic verification." Buck handed a terminal to Zhou Jue and then told her how to operate it.
"Genetic certification can be done by yourself, and of course, I can also help, sir, what do you think?"
Zhou Jue took the terminal device and glanced at the thin man on the ground who was still in shock.
"Get one for him too."
"Huh?" Buck was taken aback.
“Give him the status of a ‘free citizen’ as well.”
“Yes! Yes!” Buck dared not have any objection and immediately complied.
The skinny man on the ground was completely dumbfounded. He stared blankly at Zhou Jue, then at Buck, feeling like he was dreaming. He had just walked through the gates of hell, and now, not only was he alive, he had also gained a "free citizen" status that he never dared to dream of.
Soon, Buck also got the skinny man's identity sorted out.
"Sir, this is his status as a free citizen, and only the final genetic verification is needed."
Zhou Jue took the terminal and casually tossed one to the thin man. The man caught it in a fluster; the small terminal felt as heavy as a thousand pounds in his hands.
"Thank you... thank you, sir!" He kowtowed deeply to Zhou Jue.
Zhou Jue got what he wanted and was preparing to erase the two people's memories of him.
“My lord!” Buck suddenly spoke up. Such a powerful person had suddenly appeared, and he was here to buy an identity. He must have something to ask for. He had to win him over.
Zhou Jue looked at him, and Buck took out a metal box from the bottom hidden compartment of the table, held it with both hands, and handed it to Zhou Jue.
"My lord, this is just a small token of my appreciation, nothing more."
Zhou Jue glanced at him, then scanned the box with his divine sense. Inside was an even larger, higher-quality energy core.
Zhou Jue didn't answer: "What do you want?"
"My lord, I wonder if you would be interested in taking on a mission related to the power core?"
Zhou Jue heard the word again: "What's the use of this thing?"
