Chapter 115 The Infrastructure Maniac Requests to Join the Battle!

Chapter 115 The Infrastructure Maniac Requests to Join the Battle!

Zhou Jue pressed the answer button, and Chen Jianguo's loud voice almost jumped out of the receiver.

"Xiao Jue! How's things going over there? The main structure of 'Tianjian Pass' has been completed, and we can start the final step tomorrow. When can you come back?"

His voice was filled with barely suppressed excitement and anxiety, like an old father waiting for his child to come home for the Chinese New Year.

Zhou Jue's lips unconsciously curved into a smile: "Uncle Chen, we're back already. We just got home and are resting. We haven't had a chance to let you know yet."

There was a sudden silence on the other end of the phone, followed by an even louder voice: "You're back?!"

"Okay! Okay! Wait here! I'm coming right away!"

"beep--"

The call was abruptly ended.

Zhou Jue and Cheng Gan exchanged a glance, both seeing the helplessness and smile on each other's faces.

Sure enough, less than ten minutes later, the screech of a military vehicle braking sharply could be heard outside. Immediately following was the sound of hurried footsteps.

There was a knock on the door, and Cheng Gan opened it. Chen Jianguo rushed in, still wearing his training uniform which was a little dusty, and with a fine layer of sweat on his forehead. He had obviously come directly from a construction site.

As soon as he entered the room, his gaze swept over Zhou Juezi from head to toe, as if afraid that they might be missing a single hair.

"Are you alright? Did everything go smoothly? It's chaotic outside, did you run into any trouble?"

A barrage of questions came at me like a machine gun.

"Don't worry, Uncle Chen, we're fine!" Zhou Jue poured him a glass of water.

"I've been 'searching for things' in the mountains these past few days, so I'm a bit tired."

Cheng Gan nodded, speaking sparingly: "Safe."

Chen Jianguo took the water glass and gulped down more than half of it in one go before letting out a long sigh of relief. He plopped down on the sofa, completely relaxing.

He didn't press for details, and changed the subject casually, saying, "You wouldn't believe it, while you were 'looking for something,' things were in complete chaos outside."

He paused deliberately, observing their reactions.

"Oh?" Zhou Jue raised an eyebrow, feigning curiosity. "What's wrong, Uncle Chen? We've been 'lost' in the deep mountains and forests for the past few days. There's no signal, it's like we're cut off from the world. We haven't even been watching the news."

"Well, speaking of which, since you left, many countries have experienced a series of major events."

"Not to mention anything far in the future, even the things that have happened in the last two days are bizarre!"

"In Myanmar, those biggest fraud industrial parks, like 'K Park' and 'Yongsheng Technology Park,' were all shut down overnight!"

As he spoke, he leaned forward slightly, lowered his voice, and said with a mysterious air, "Do you know what's the most bizarre thing? All the thugs and leaders in the park, seven or eight hundred people, not one of them escaped. They were all dealt with using all sorts of strange and bizarre methods, and then burned to ashes in a fire, leaving not even ashes behind!"

"But what about those compatriots who were tricked into going there as 'coolies,' as well as victims from other countries? Not a single one of them was harmed; they were all secretly sent to the doorsteps of various embassies. Tell me, what kind of mess is this?"

He clicked his tongue and continued, "The whole world is in an uproar right now. Some say it's a 'vigilante' operation by some mysterious organization, some say it's a 'decapitation' operation by a secret force of some country, and some even say with great certainty that God sent 'angels' down to carry out 'divine punishment.' Hey, these foreigners, their imaginations are really rich."

Zhou Jue listened quietly, holding a warm cup of water in his hands, his face showing just the right amount of surprise and curiosity.

“That’s truly gratifying,” she murmured.

"Evil will be punished, how wonderful! I just don't know which deity acted on behalf of Heaven to do such a brilliant job, and left no evidence at all!"

Upon hearing this, Chen Jianguo gave her a deep look.

In those eyes, there was approval, lingering fear, and worry, which finally all turned into a long sigh.

He didn't ask any further questions.

Some things don't need evidence; they just need an unspoken understanding.

“Well done… beautifully.” He squeezed out the words through clenched teeth, his voice soft yet carrying immense weight.

“But,” he immediately became serious again, “Xiao Jue, you can’t do this! It’s too dangerous! You are a national treasure, not a lone hero! If you really want to do it, you must report it first. The country is your strongest support, understand?!”

"Understood, Uncle Chen." Zhou Jue nodded obediently.

Seeing her "obedient" appearance, Chen Jianguo swallowed back all the words of admonition he had in mind.

He shook his head helplessly, knowing that the girl was only paying lip service; she would agree verbally but would do the same thing again next time.

"Alright, alright, let's not talk about this anymore! Let's get down to business!"

When serious matters were mentioned, Chen Jianguo's face instantly brightened, and he became radiant, unable to hide his pride and arrogance.

"'Tianjian Pass'! It's a success!"

He suddenly stood up, took a few steps around the room, and waved his arms excitedly.

"Xiao Jue, you didn't see that scene! At a single command, hundreds of engineering teams and tens of thousands of workers were mobilized from all over the country! Countless heavy machines, like steel behemoths, worked day and night! The entire island was brightly lit 24 hours a day, and the roar of the machines never stopped!"

"That speed, that efficiency! It's simply a miracle! I made a promise to you that I would finish in fifteen days, and guess what?" He held up his finger and waved it in front of Zhou Jue.

"Today! Exactly the fourteenth day! The main structure, along with all the internal pipelines, decorations, and equipment installations, is completely completed!"

"Now, this formidable pass is just one step away from completion!" He looked intently at Zhou Jue.

"We're just waiting for your two 'divine stones' to be embedded in it, to add the finishing touch!"

Zhou Jue's heart pounded wildly at these words.

Fourteen days!

A super fortress that blends "fantasy" and "technology" rises from the ground on Earth!

This is China! This is the true power of the infrastructure powerhouse!

"Very good!"

"Alright, look how tired you look!" Chen Jianguo waved his hand with concern.

"Don't think about anything today, and don't go to the canteen. I've asked the logistics department to prepare special meals for you. Just tell us what you want to eat! Anything that flies in the sky, runs on the ground, or swims in the water—as long as our base has it, we'll provide plenty!"

He patted his chest, exclaiming with boundless pride, "Your mission is to eat well, drink well, and then get a good, solid night's sleep! Get plenty of rest! Tomorrow will be a day that goes down in history! It will be the first day that our country sets sail for the stars!"

After saying that, he gave a few more words of advice, such as taking a rest, before leaving contentedly, humming a little tune.

That evening, a sumptuous dinner was delivered to Zhou Jue's small building.

Zhou Jue called Cheng Gan over, and under the bright starlight outside the window and the still-flickering lights on the construction site in the distance, they quietly finished their welcome dinner.

Nothing was said that night.

As the first rays of sunlight pierced through the clouds the following morning, gilding the magnificent "Tianjian Pass" with a golden edge, the entire base was filled with a solemn yet fervent atmosphere.

Cheng Gan knocked on Zhou Jue's door.

"Xiao Jue, it's time."

The door opened, and Zhou Jue was already dressed in a crisp military uniform, the star on her epaulettes gleaming in the morning light. She had slept soundly all night, was full of energy, and her eyes were clear and resolute.

She looked at Cheng Gan and smiled slightly.

Let's go.

"Go and put a real 'lock' on our country."
