Chapter 8 Buy and Sell Transactions

After hearing what Jiang Ruyi said, Liu Chunhua turned around and ran straight to the next village.

She didn't know much about the village, she only knew it was called Tieniu Village. There were very few people working in the village, and they all made a living by farming. As for why it was called Tieniu Village, she didn't know.

As soon as the mother and daughter entered the village, they saw several old people sitting under a big locust tree chatting.

Liu Chunhua didn't know how to start the conversation. Jiang Ruyi was helping her to prepare herself mentally. To outsiders, it looked like Liu Chunhua was running around in a panic while holding the child.

An old lady noticed the commotion here and looked over at her. "Girl, are you here to look for someone?"

"No, no," with Jiang Ruyi's repeated encouragement, Liu Chunhua finally became bolder.

"Auntie, I want to buy some local specialties, but I don't know anyone here, and I don't know what to do." Liu Chunhua walked forward with a smile. Her friendly and kind face naturally made people feel more favorable towards her.

The old lady glanced at Jiang Ruyi in her arms when she heard this. Seeing that she was a newborn baby, she guessed, "You want to collect some local eggs and red dates, right? You look like you just gave birth not long ago, why don't you ask your husband to come out and buy them?"

"He..." Liu Chunhua smiled bitterly. The old ladies were all shrewd people and they knew at a glance that the man could not be relied on.

A few soft-hearted people stood up and said, "I do have some eggs at home. If the price is right, I'll take you to my house to have a look."

"Okay, okay, don't worry, I'll give you whatever price is on the market, and I promise you won't get less."

Liu Chunhua was very happy. She had asked just now. Ruyi said that local eggs and red dates were rare things in the town and rich people were happy to buy them.

But just when the old lady was about to take her home, an auntie who was picking wild vegetables nearby suddenly spoke up, "Grandma Wang, this person has an unknown origin and is a stranger. Are you so confident in taking her home? And from what I see, she doesn't look like a wealthy person. Don't let her get cheated!"

When Granny Wang heard this, she was stunned.

Although she felt that Liu Chunhua did not look like that kind of person, if she really could not come up with the money, wouldn't it be a waste of effort?

"Granny Wang, how about this? I'll wait for you here. There are so many people watching us here. Then we can exchange the money and the goods. Is that okay with you?" Liu Chunhua was not a stupefied person. Seeing that the other party doubted her, she expressed her opinion immediately.

After hearing this, Granny Wang said no more and soon came over with a basket.

"Look, these are all eggs laid by our own chickens, they are all good!"

Liu Chunhua lifted the blue cloth covering the basket and found that they were all genuine country eggs, but there were not many of them, only about ten.

"That's normal. Eggs were rare in those days. It was good enough for ordinary families to have one. I think these eggs were saved by the old man to leave for his descendants."

Jiang Ruyi's guess was correct, and the old lady explained it in the same way.

Liu Chunhua took the basket with a smile, "Okay, they are all good things. I'll take the eggs. I'll sell them for seven cents each. Is that okay with you?"

"Seven cents each?"

The ladies watching the fun around started talking about it. In the past six months, the egg vendor in the village gave 6 cents for eggs, but now this girl actually gave 7 cents!

Don't underestimate this one-point difference; it is still very valuable in this economically poor era.

At that moment, more and more ladies became interested, especially after Liu Chunhua settled the bill with them on the spot, those who had stock at home rushed to take the goods.

Although Liu Chunhua was smiling on the surface, she was actually sweating in her heart, "Hey kid, can we sell so many things? What if we lose money later?"

"Don't worry, rural specialties are always in great demand, and don't forget that today is the day of the big market in town, we will definitely be able to sell them." Jiang Ruyi was hungry, and was holding the little breast that Liu Chunhua made for her and sucking on it.

In the end, Liu Chunhua not only received eggs and red dates, but also some specialty dry food and pickles made by the villagers themselves. One aunt even brought some homemade tofu.

Liu Chunhua knew when to quit and prepared to finish her shopping trip as she estimated that her money was almost spent. As there were too many things, the villagers even spontaneously got her an ox cart to take her there.

It was already mid-afternoon when we arrived at the town market.

Liu Chunhua laid out the eggs with straw and placed some dry food on the sheet. Someone else who was setting up stalls nearby asked her curiously, "Sister, why are you here at this time? There are many people in the morning. Everyone has already bought their food and gone home."

"I wanted to come earlier, but I missed it, didn't I?"

Liu Chunhua smiled and took the initiative to get closer to the other party.

It was at this time that Jiang Ruyi discovered that her adopted mother was not as rigid and incompetent as she had imagined. Sometimes she was actually very flexible.

Feeling praised by her daughter, Liu Chunhua smiled even more happily. She looked around and shouted, "Eggs for sale. Free-range eggs raised at home. They are delicious, inexpensive and nutritious."

The shouting worked, and two or three people were really attracted over. From the way they were dressed, it was obvious that they were not from the countryside.

Just when Liu Chunhua thought she was going to open the shop smoothly, one of the women asked the price and said with disdain, "How dare you ask for 9 cents for an egg? Will you sell it for 7 cents?"

The smile on Liu Chunhua's face froze. She had never done business before and thought that she had really set the price too high.

But the price she paid for it was 7 cents. If she sold it at another 7 cents, wouldn’t it be a waste of time?

"It's just 9 points. I can't sell it for 7 points." As soon as Liu Chunhua finished speaking, the woman waved her hand in disgust and walked away.

Liu Chunhua stood there at a loss, and it was Jiang Ruyi who comforted her.

"Don't be stunned. If she doesn't buy it, someone else will. The market price at the market is 9 cents. She asked you for 7 cents just to deliberately lower the price. If you agree to it, you will be taken advantage of."

Hearing her say this, Liu Chunhua felt better, but if the eggs couldn't be sold, she wouldn't be able to get back the money she had given out, and she would then lose everything.

"Just listen to me. You can't sell it for 7 cents anyway."

"Okay, I'll yell again."

Liu Chunhua and Jiang Ruyi were walking back and forth, and they didn't notice at all that there was a Mercedes-Benz W140 parked in front of the grain and oil store across the street. A little boy of about three or four years old was sitting inside and was staring at Liu Chunhua strangely.

"Yu Li, what are you looking at?"

The boy's parents noticed his gaze, and the boy named Yu Li pointed in the direction of Liu Chunhua and said, "That auntie is talking to herself."

The boy's parents took a quick look and saw that she was just an ordinary rural woman and did not take it seriously.

But he didn't notice that the little boy was having a conversation instead of talking to himself.
