Chapter 228 Do Dolphins Line Up After a Shipwreck?

"Xie Chi, I have a persistent feeling of unease." Su Zhou's intuition has always been very accurate, and she has avoided risks many times before.

During my sophomore year, I wanted to fly to a ski resort in a snow-covered mountain in the Southern Hemisphere. Just before my departure, I suddenly felt inexplicably palpitations, and my flight was canceled. Not long after, I received news of an avalanche at the ski resort, which claimed three lives.

The avalanche occurred not far from the hotel she had booked.

Before them, the dark seawater churned with towering waves, and the once clear sky was suddenly shrouded in thick fog. Ocean weather is notoriously unpredictable, and the other guests on this floor seemed oblivious to the disaster-movie-like scene unfolding before them, continuing to splash and play in the pool.

Xie Chi held Su Zhou's hand tightly. Although it wasn't exactly proper, the soothing warmth traveled through her skin, which made Su Zhou relax slightly.

Su Zhou returned to her room and decided to watch a horror movie.

"Want to see a movie?" Su Zhou's gaze was fixed intently on the dazzling array of films. She quite enjoyed watching horror movies, having done so frequently before inheriting the zoo.

The most classic horror films are the zombie movies from Hong Kong in the 1980s and 90s, which were funny with a touch of horror. However, zombie movies gradually declined in popularity later on.

Xie Chi lifted his thin eyelids and looked over. "Hmm. What?"

"What kind of movies do you prefer? We can pick one that everyone can watch." A person sat down next to me, enveloped in a faint, cool fragrance.

"Just choose what you like to watch." Xie Chi's fingers rested on the armrest, his slender white fingers still showing a hint of white jade in the darkness.

Su Zhou snapped out of her daze and randomly picked a movie with a rather scary-looking cover.

She pulled out a few bags of snacks, but her mind was hardly on the movie.

The film has clear picture quality. The opening scene shows a group of people appearing in a tropical rainforest by boat. The swamp is full of dense snakes.

She hadn't thought much of similar movies before, but now, watching a disaster film of the same genre, Su Zhou sighed and rested her chin on her hand. Since inheriting the zoo, she had also painlessly learned about many kinds of animals. Animals that she had previously ignored or paid little attention to, she now knew by heart.

Upon closer inspection of these snakes, numerous bugs were discovered.

After only a few glances, Su Zhou felt like complaining.

"The special effects are so poor quality. Are snakes' eyes really that intelligent?"

"And the head and teeth don't seem to follow a proper distribution pattern either."

Although Su Zhou was complaining, her clear almond-shaped eyes didn't look away from the movie. Fortunately, although the movie had many bugs, the plot and the main characters' good looks, along with the just-right atmosphere, allowed Su Zhou to continue watching.

"The fog is too thick."

"It feels like a real-life disaster movie. Do you think we might end up like the main characters in the movie?"

A young couple deeply in love were embracing and kissing passionately when a sudden wave crashed in, instantly covering the ground with seawater and soaking all their clothes.

"No, it won't." The woman's blonde hair was damp with sweat. She cupped the man's face in her hands and kissed him again.

The melodious piano music played on the dance floor, the figures swayed and danced, the crystal chandelier reflected shimmering silver light, and the air was filled with a rich, fragrant aroma.

Suddenly, the previously stable hull began to heave violently.

The sudden commotion stunned everyone, and then seawater began to seep into the floor.

The deep purple lightning was exceptionally clear amidst the gloom.

Thanks to the good sound insulation material, the screams from the lower floors haven't affected the people upstairs yet.

The movie is still going on and is nearing its end.

Su Zhou leaned on Xie Chi's shoulder, a slight smile in her eyes.

The ship is still sinking.

It gives people almost no time to react.

The lifeboats were only for emergencies, and there weren't many empty seats. Everyone fought each other to grab a lifeboat.

When Su Zhou realized something was wrong, her gaze was already level with the sea.

Her ankles weren't in the water, but what she was thinking was: Can foxes swim?

"Xie Chi." She opened her mouth, instinctively searching for Xie Chi's location.

Children who grow up in villages are usually good swimmers, but the outside world is currently experiencing extreme weather conditions, and she doesn't know why this situation has suddenly occurred. She finally decided to take a short break.

I never expected to be this unlucky.

A cool yet pleasant voice came from behind Su Zhou, reassuring her: "I'm here."

The ship continues to sink.

Even cruise ships seem to be somewhat lacking in this regard.

Accidents can still happen at sea.

Su Zhou was completely submerged in the seawater, but... the fear she had imagined did not appear. Instead, she felt an instinctive resonance with the sea.

The once turbulent, dark waves now felt like a pair of gentle hands caressing Su Zhou's body.

In an instant, my mind was filled with a dense array of sounds.

Are you in danger?

They're still playing with us, what adorable people...

Many people have fallen into the water; they're probably in danger.

"That's strange, it smells really nice."

A dense array of sounds entered Su Zhou's ears; they were the various tropical fish swimming around her in the depths of the ocean.

If Su Zhou were in the deep sea at this moment, she would see that she was surrounded by densely packed fish.

The chattering was lively and cheerful, but Su Zhou didn't find it annoying at all.

Xie Chi reached out and firmly grasped Su Zhou's slender wrist, but then heard the calls of dolphins.

Su Zhou then realized that she was surrounded by dolphins without her noticing.

There are many dolphins.

Surrounding Su Zhou in a circle, Su Zhou asked softly, "Are you... protecting me?"

I had seen it in the news before; dolphins are very friendly creatures.

She never expected that something like this would happen to her one day, although... she didn't really want it to happen either.

【Yes! 】

"System? Are you still there?" After receiving an affirmative answer from the dolphin, Su Zhou asked the system in her mind.

[Host, I'm here.]

Su Zhou was overjoyed: "That's great! You're still here! You still have a signal even in this storm!"

The system's soft, cute voice carried a hint of disdain: "No matter what, this system is a high-tech product from a higher plane. How could its signal disappear just because of a little thunderstorm?"

Hearing the system's voice, Su Zhou finally felt relieved.

With high technology at your fingertips, escaping is a piece of cake.
