Then, trembling with her bloodied hands, she ran to Zhu Yanniang and screamed incoherently.
"How dare you! Don't you know you should be careful? You're just a kid, so reckless. Luckily we still have some medicine for sprains and bruises, otherwise your hand would be ruined."
Zhu Yanniang glanced at his hand with disdain, then looked at the man, and walked speechlessly to their bundle, taking out a bunch of gauze and medicine for bruises and sprains.
"It's all because you scolded me and threatened me. I got scared and panicked, so I didn't pay attention."
Wen Qiyu muttered speechlessly, "It wasn't like he wanted to get involved, was it?"
"Stop arguing! Don't lay a hand on me! Straighten up."
Zhu Yanniang glared at him, then pulled his hand over and carefully applied hemostatic medicine to it.
"oh!"
Wen Qiyu was injured and couldn't get any food yet, so she had to rely on Zhu Yanniang later, which made her exceptionally clever.
After Zhu Yanniang treated his wounds, she glared at him again, then took the dagger and cleanly peeled off the pig's skin before cutting the pork.
An hour later, a fire was lit next to Wen Qiyu, and soon the aroma of charred pork filled the entire forest.
Zhu Yanniang handed a skewer of grilled meat to Wen Qiyu:
"You injured your right hand, can you use your left hand?"
"I'm left-handed, I can manage. Don't worry about me, didn't you say you were hungry? You eat these first, and then get me a few more skewers after you're full!"
Wen Qiyu probably hadn't been this obedient in his more than ten years of life. His tone was exceptionally gentle and tactful.
"Just take it. Why ask so many questions?"
Zhu Yanniang couldn't help but glare at him again, then shoved the roasted pork into his left hand and went back to her work.
"oh!"
Seeing that Zhu Yanniang insisted, Wen Qiyu didn't dare to provoke her and had no choice but to accept the skewers.
He was eating slowly and deliberately when his eyes inadvertently glanced in a certain direction. Deep in the dense forest, there seemed to be a white wall. In the limited sunlight, although it was not very clear, one could still sense its presence.
Then he cried out in surprise:
"Sister Zhu, Sister Zhu, come here for a moment, sit next to me and take a look, what is that?"
"Why are you so startled? What did you see?"
Seeing his expression, Zhu Yanniang realized that the novel had indeed seen something unusual, so she had no choice but to put down what she was doing, walk up to him, and follow his gaze.
"Did you see that?"
There was a cloud of white mist.
"It's not like a white wall. You know, there are arrays stacked on top of each other inside. Is it protecting something, and we just stumbled into their forbidden area?"
Wen Qiyu wanted to complain that her eyesight was bad, but unfortunately, her fighting skills were insufficient, so she didn't dare to act rashly. She could only tell Zhu Yanniang what she had seen and guessed.
"A white wall? Where is there a white wall? Who would go to the trouble of building a white wall deep in this dense forest? Are you seeing things? If you think it is, then observe more closely. I'm starving, I'm going to roast some meat. We'll talk about that after we've eaten and drunk our fill. Let me tell you, we need to conserve our water too. Just because there was water in one place doesn't mean there will be here. Until we find a new water source, we should all be careful."
Zhu Yanniang was so hungry she was seeing stars, and she couldn't even see what the pile of white things in front of her was. So she rolled her eyes at Wen Qiyu and strode over to the fire to focus on roasting her meat.
"Then you eat first, and I'll observe for a while. If the white stuff doesn't disappear, we'll go check on it after we finish eating, okay?"
Wen Qiyu took a bite of the roasted meat, glanced at the white area again, and asked for her opinion.
"Okay, let's go check it out later. Maybe it's some kind of formation key, and it'll be good to have some time."
Zhu Yanniang seemed indifferent; her primary concern now was her hunger.
So she's taking grilling meat quite seriously now.
A little while later, she took the skewers in her hand, ate about half of them, and exclaimed in admiration:
"Hmm, mine smells pretty good."
"It's really delicious. I didn't expect Sister Zhu's cooking skills to be so good. It's even better than what I usually bake."
Wen Qiyu chuckled and couldn't help but compliment him.
"You little rascal, you've suddenly become so well-behaved, it's taking me a little while to adjust. You're really quite sensible, aren't you? Is your snake that precious to you?"
Zhu Yanniang looked at him with a smile, clearly still thinking about how he hadn't let her eat the snake earlier.
"Of course, I cherish them very much. You won't wait for my feelings for them. Have you finished eating?"
Wen Qiyu's eyes always light up when snakes are mentioned. He and those snakes are like brothers, even lovers in a sense, so how could he not feel sorry for them?
"I give up. I'm finished eating. Let's go see if that white wall you mentioned is really a white wall."
Zhu Yanniang glanced at Wen Qiyu with disdain again, then walked ahead with an unsteady gait.
The white thing looked very close, but Zhu Yanniang and Wen Qiyu walked for two hours and still hadn't reached it. In the end, the two of them were panting and supporting their legs.
"Damn it, how come it's so far? Will we ever find it?!"
"Could it be a mirage? I've heard Cen Xi mention such things before."
"I don't think so. We might still be trapped in some kind of formation. Only by breaking through the formation can we get past it."
"Why are you so sure it's real? We... we've been walking for so long, and that thing is still there, but we're like we're trapped in a maze, we just can't get there."
Zhu Yanniang really couldn't understand why Wen Qiyu was so sure that thing existed. She thought it was an illusion created by the person who set up the formation.
"It's impossible that such a place definitely exists. Otherwise, why would they go to such lengths to trap us here, with one array after another? Sister Zhu, you have to trust my judgment."
Wen Qiyu, panting heavily, said righteously. He was now very certain of his guess. Although he had not received the same professional education as his brother, he felt that there was a conspiracy in this place no matter how he thought about it.
"Alright, what you said makes sense. But we don't understand formations, so how are we supposed to break this knot?"
Zhu Yanniang was persuaded by him, but a new problem arose, and neither of them knew how to solve it.
"Let's take our time searching. Maybe we'll stumble upon the key point of the formation by accident."
Panting heavily, Wen Qiyu collapsed to the ground, weakly answering Zhu Yanniang's question.
"We have no choice but to try anything, even if it's a dead end. Who is so unscrupulous as to set up such a formation in this place? What are they trying to hide?"
Zhu Yanniang was also exhausted. Seeing Wen Qiyu lying down without regard for her image, she also lay down on the ground, panting heavily.
