Feng Yun was so angry that he laughed.
"Wasn't your eldest daughter-in-law all the best before? Now that she can't work and is being despised, you think of your second daughter-in-law?"
Qi Qiu Ming looked a little embarrassed.
Compared to the eldest brother's wife's cursing, Feng Yun's sarcasm made her even more uncomfortable.
She was furious when the family was divided, and in order to cut off her own retreat, she said something very decisive.
"Ge Cuicui is much better than someone as heartless as you. I'm putting this out there. Even if I have to go out to beg for food in the future, I will never come back to you for retirement. After you split up, don't even think about coming back to take advantage of me."
"Remember?" Feng Yun looked at Qi Qiuming's ugly face with a half-smile. "Since you remember, remember what you said. I haven't had much good things from you over the years. Now don't expect me to support you in your old age."
After saying that, she picked up the medicine box and walked away. After a few steps, she turned her head back.
"I'm not saying anything bad about you. You're already so old, and you're still playing the role of a green tea girl. However, your acting is pretty good. You can cry when you say you want to. I have to learn from you."
Feng Yun could see that the old woman was also dissatisfied with her sister-in-law. Originally, her brother would not get angry and hit his sister-in-law, but when she cried like this and Hu Jianjun saw it, of course Hu Jianjun, as a filial son, had to show his filial piety.
I didn’t expect this old woman to be so scheming.
Qi Qiuming's trick was exposed, and he snorted, "It's none of your business!"
After saying that, she turned around and walked back.
She was just overthinking it. Even if this daughter-in-law changed now, she wouldn't be able to get along well with her.
You can just give me a ladder to get down? That's impossible!
Feng Yun ridiculed the old woman and returned to his yard in a good mood, humming a song.
Hongdong Village Chief's House
"Guangcong, did something good happen to you? You seem to be in a good mood."
Zhou Kuang threw out a one-on-five fight, shaking his legs and laughing, "Talk to my brothers, let me have some fun with them."
Hu Guangcong threw out a pair of sharp swords slowly, "No good thing will come of it."
"One on two." Huang Hong quickly threw out a one on two, pressing on the sharp edge of a pair. He raised his free hand and grinned, "I win."
Three people are playing Run Fast, which is a very popular poker game recently.
Zhou Kuang's family was well-off, so after buying him a deck of playing cards, Hu Guangcong would come over to play whenever he had time.
Lishu Village is only about ten minutes' walk from Hongdong Village. Hu Guangcong works in the fields all year round and rarely has his own time. On this rare day off, no one from the Hu family would come to see him.
Huang Hong leaned over to look at Hu Guangcong's cards and couldn't help asking, "No good news, you're like a completely different person today, you're almost floating."
Hu Guangcong raised the corner of his mouth and said to Zhou Kuang, "I only have five cards left. Be careful."
Zhou Kuang rolled his eyes. "You can't possibly have a straight, right? I'll play a straight."
Huang Hong slapped Zhou Kuang in anger, "You don't know how to count cards? Guangcong just happens to have a straight in his hand, you idiot!"
Zhou Kuang looked at Hu Guangcong, and Hu Guangcong put down the 910JQK in his hand with a smile.
Zhou Kuang threw the cards away and said, "Alright, I'm done playing. Guangcong, take these cards back. My eldest brother will be back in a few days. I can't let him see me playing this, or he'll punish me."
Huang Hong cried out and tried to grab the poker, but Hu Guangcong slapped his hand away and grabbed the poker in his hand first.
I asked casually, "Hasn't your eldest brother been back for many years? What's the point of coming back?"
"Let's meet each other." Zhou Kuang stood up. "I've already got a wife, but my eldest brother is still single. If we don't meet each other, my mother will kill me and send me to the military camp."
Huang Hong hissed, "Your elder brother is very well-off, so why can't he find a wife?"
"You know shit." Zhou Kuang rubbed his teeth. "There are too many men in the military camp and too little meat, so it's normal that it's hard to find a wife. But the women in the village have too many things to deal with, and they can't accept long-term separation. Hasn't this delay delayed us until now? Even so, my eldest brother doesn't want to come back. If my mother hadn't threatened him with her life, he wouldn't even plan to come back for the New Year this year."
Hu Guangcong didn't care much about other people's family affairs. He stood up after packing the playing cards and said, "I'm going home now. I'll bring it to you next time I have a break."
When Hu Guangcong returned to his room, he saw a light in his elder sister's room, so he walked over and looked inside through the window.
There was a book in front of Hu Chunhua, but she was supporting her chin, not knowing what she was thinking.
Hu Guangcong pushed the door open and walked in. "Sister, what are you daydreaming about?"
The sudden sound startled Hu Chunhua. She closed the book in anger and said, "You scared me. Scaring people can kill them. You must have done it on purpose."
Hu Guangcong moved a chair and sat down. "Okay, stop distracting yourself. Tell me, what are you thinking about?"
Hu Chunhua rolled her eyes at him, pulled him up, and pushed him out. "What can you be thinking about? You want to see your uncle and the others tomorrow. Why are you speaking for Mom?"
While he was talking, his hands didn't stop moving, and Hu Guangcong was quickly pushed out the door.
With a thud, the playing cards in the bag fell out.
"What is this?" Hu Chunhua picked it up. "Poker cards, where did you get them?"
"Zhou Kuang gave it to me."
Hu Chunhua paused, "You went to Hongdong Village?"
"Yeah." Hu Guangcong put the playing cards in his pocket, turned around and waved, "Okay, big sister, go to bed early. I'm going to bed too."
Hu Chunhua stammered and pulled Hu Guangcong's sleeve.
Hu Guangcong looked at her in confusion, "What's wrong?"
Hu Chunhua moved her fingertips and let go of Hu Guangcong. The smile on her face was a little forced. "Nothing, I just want to ask why Zhou Kuang gave you these playing cards. Doesn't he want them himself?"
Hu Guangcong thought of something and couldn't help laughing.
"His eldest brother is coming back. He has always treated him like a child and has always believed that he is uneducated, so he keeps a close eye on him. He is worried that his eldest brother will come back and confiscate his playing cards, so he asked me to bring them back to play with first and return them to him later."
Hu Chunhua's hand moved involuntarily and her gaze shifted to Hu Guangcong.
"Isn't his elder brother in the military camp? I heard that soldiers rarely come back. It's not a festival, so why did he come back suddenly?"
"He came back to look for a wife." Hu Guangcong was completely oblivious to Hu Chunhua's emotions. He said casually, "It's said that his mother chose a girl for him to see and forced him to get married. Oh, this is someone else's family matter. I don't know much about it. Big sister, I'm sleepy. I'm going to bed."
Hu Guangcong said this, yawned and left.
Hu Chunhua closed the door in a daze, and when she sat down, her eyes looked dazed.
Is Zhou Xiong coming back?
Looking down at her rough hands, Hu Chunhua smiled bitterly.
Mom asked her if she had someone in her heart, and yes, she did.
But she is not worthy of him.
