Chapter 12 Reasons for the Breakup

On the day of the breakup, the sky was exceptionally gloomy. Baijiu arranged to meet Luo Sheng at the place where they first met, and Luo Sheng had a slight premonition that things weren't going well.

Perhaps it was because of the weather, but Luo Sheng felt that the atmosphere was particularly oppressive. He felt a bit suffocated, as if he couldn't breathe.

"Luo Sheng, let's break up."

When Baijiu said those words, Luo Sheng met her gaze, his eyes filled with disbelief.

"Jiu Jiu, what are you saying? Didn't we agree to get married after graduation?" Luo Sheng pulled Bai Jiu's hand, and every word he spoke carried an obvious plea.

Baijiu pulled her hand away, her eyes still reddening.

"Marriage? I'm afraid even getting engaged is difficult. Let's break up, Luo Sheng, we won't make it that far."

"Why?" Luo Sheng grabbed her tightly, forcing her to look him in the eye, but he saw only resolute eyes, devoid of any love.

"Getting married right after graduation? You're overthinking it, Luo Sheng. I'm going to be in the entertainment industry. Getting married right after graduation? I was just joking back then, don't take it too seriously."

Bai Jiu glanced at Luo Sheng. Even though she had loved him, in her eyes, she would never be as foolish as Yu Nian. She could never give up her future for Luo Sheng.

She had wanted to talk to Luo Sheng for half a month, but unfortunately she hadn't found the opportunity. Now that she had a better option, she wouldn't refuse it. Besides, she had initially been attracted to Luo Sheng's family background. Otherwise, she wouldn't have gone to so much trouble to push Yu Nian away from Luo Sheng.

If Luo Sheng's mother hadn't approached her yesterday, she wouldn't have broken up with him so quickly. If she continued to be with Luo Sheng, her future career might be ruined by this relationship. Faced with the choice between the future and Luo Sheng, she chose the future.

"Luo Sheng, I know your family doesn't like me and opposes you being with me. Forget about marriage, you might not even be able to give me an engagement ring after graduation. Besides, I'll be going abroad for further studies soon. It's better to end it now than to suffer for a long time. Let's break up, Luo Sheng."

Luo Sheng released the baijiu, took a few steps back, and looked at it again with a strange expression.

He understood what she was saying, but he didn't want to let go. He didn't want to believe in their relationship. She just broke up with him like that. Didn't she know how much he liked her?

"I didn't expect this reason from you. I'll just ask you one more time, are you coming with me or not?"

Bai Jiu looked at Luo Sheng, whose eyes were bloodshot, and returned the star necklace to him, her cold indifference revealing her determination.

“I’m sorry, we are from two different worlds. Your mother is right, you and Yu Nian are a perfect match.”

Luo Sheng stared at the necklace, his throat dry. He took a breath and said, his face pale, "Fine, then let's break up."

He took one last deep look at the liquor, then turned and left without looking back, bidding a hasty farewell to his first love.

On the day of the breakup, Luo Sheng locked himself in his room and drank a lot of alcohol. He didn't understand why the liquor had abandoned him like that.

He kept throwing the star necklace away and picking it up again, then throwing it away again. He drank until the wee hours of the morning, and finally, he crumpled the star necklace into his pocket.

"They could have had a future together, but she didn't want it."

Yu Nian only learned the reason for their breakup half a month after returning to China. It seems Bai Jiu didn't love Luo Sheng that much either; he was bought off with five million.

She hadn't seen Luo Sheng for quite some time since their last visit to the tavern.

Even she hadn't expected Luo Sheng's first love to be so dramatic. She thought they'd be together for a long time, but they broke up in less than four months?

Yu Nian shook her head and cleared her mind. What did this have to do with her?

After Luo Sheng and Bai Jiu broke up, everyone thought that there was a possibility that Luo Sheng and Bai Jiu would rekindle their old relationship.

After learning that Luo Sheng had been dumped, his childhood friend Jin Yan was so happy she was practically laughing herself crazy.

He organized a gathering and invited Luo Sheng and Yu Nian, intending to continue to try to bring them together.

After all, his little Niannian is a hopeless romantic.

Yu Nian: ...You're the one with a love-struck mind.

After everyone arrived, he nudged Yu Nian, who was lost in thought, and asked, "They broke up. What do you think?"

Yu Nian turned to look at him, as if she were looking at someone with a hole in their brain.

She glanced at Luo Sheng, who was still drinking heavily, and was surprised that his alcohol tolerance had improved quite a bit after the breakup.

"What opinion could I possibly have?" Yu Nian had no idea what other crazy ideas Jin Yan was planning to come up with.

Xu Jinyan looked at him with a disappointed expression.

“They broke up, so your chance has come again, right? I told you they wouldn’t last long. I heard that Baijiu took 5 million from Aunt Luo and agreed to break up. Luo Sheng is in big trouble, hahaha.”

Yu Nian laughed upon hearing this: "Opportunity? What opportunity? What? Are you still thinking of setting us up? When did you become so eager to be a matchmaker? We broke off our engagement a long time ago."

She couldn't resist tapping Jin Yan on the head. Her childhood friend was great in every way, except that he wasn't quite right in the head. She had to give him a good whack!

"Also, I don't like him anymore."

Yu Nian said this very calmly. If you didn't know she was love-struck, even Jin Yan, who had known her for over ten years, would almost believe it.

But seriously, can someone you've liked for so long really just suddenly stop liking them?

Are you serious?

"real."

Jin Yan was skeptical; he didn't know if she was telling the truth. If she was, that was fine too. After all, that man surnamed Luo was blind.
