Chapter 19 Feigned Peace

Chapter 19 Feigned Peace

The Commandant is a man of both good and bad tongues. He says what he thinks without any beating around the bush or flattery. When he praises you, he means it; when he criticizes you, he means it.

If we were to say who Duan Xi'er disliked the most among Shen Jingsi's brothers back then, it would undoubtedly be Siwei, who inherited the family's arms business.

As the saying goes, he excels at whatever he does, and his mouth is just as intimidating as a powder keg.

Looking around the capital, there isn't a single person who can get out of his mouth properly.

Yes, there is.

"If you ask me, you're petty. If it were Little Pearl, she definitely wouldn't be angry with me."

Siwei didn't think too much about whether his words would embarrass anyone. He accepted the wine offered by the kneeling waiter and clinked glasses with Shen Jingsi.

"I was just spacing out for a moment, and I thought I saw Little Pearl."

Little Pearl is the only woman to date who has survived hundreds of times in Si Wuwei's mouth unscathed.

"I have to say, just seeing that back view made me miss the days when we used to hang out together."

Suddenly overcome with emotion, Siwei patted his brother on the shoulder and said, "Back in the day, you were the worst of the worst. How many times did you mess with me in front of the old man? Luckily, there was Little Pearl. As long as I complained to her, you would always back down."

"Back then, you, Shen Jingsi, were so arrogant, claiming, 'I'm not afraid of anything, and I can even make my own father angry.'" Siwei scoffed. "But look at you now, you're like a grandson in front of Little Pearl, bowing and scraping to get people to laugh at you. You're shameless."

When talking about temperament, he poked Chen Jingsi's chest again, "You're really useless. You couldn't even win a woman back then. If I were you, I would have blown up the Zheng family with one shot. How dare you steal my woman? Go to hell with your little dick."

The officer spoke with great passion, completely ignoring the face on the right that was already as black as it could possibly be.

Shen Jingsi didn't react much, and his glass of wine was almost empty. "I'll give you that chance next time."

The officer sighed helplessly, “Times have changed. Without Little Pearl around, even the capital city has become boring.”

He looked at the person again, shook his head in disinterest, and went to chatter on to Duan Yu.

With the obstacle gone, Duan Xi'er looked at Chen Jingsi, who was leaning against the wall, staring blankly at the wine glass in his hand.

The man, who hadn't been looking at her, suddenly curled his lips into a smile. "What are you looking at? Aren't you going to break off our friendship?"

Duan Xi'er rolled her eyes, turned around angrily, and was about to speak when a gift bag appeared on her lap.

"What?"

Shen Jingsi raised an eyebrow. "We'll know once we see."

She knew it even without looking, but she still took the things out.

When the exquisite and luxurious lid was lifted, the jade pendant was revealed.

Faced with the item she had longed for, Duan Xi'er was still delighted, "You bought it?"

The globally unique jadeite piece, "Love," was auctioned off yesterday and sold to the Shen family for a high price in less than three minutes.

With Shen Jingsi managing such a large business every day, how could he have the energy to pay attention to these things?

But his biological mother has been trying to establish a kinship with the Duan family for many years.

As usual, Shen Jingsi didn't waste time with useless nonsense. "Still breaking off relations?"

Looking at the necklace, then at the arrogant man approaching, Duan Xi'er was happy but wouldn't give in.

She pouted, haughtily pulled her hair to one side, and straightened her body to face him.

"Put this on me, and I'll consider whether or not I should forgive you."

"Don't you have hands?" Shen Jingsi retorted instinctively.

Duan Xi'er's face immediately fell. "Young Master Shen, is this how you ask for help? You won't even help me put on my necklace, but I can't reach it!"

The woman rattled off a whole bunch of things, making Shen Jingsi's head ache. He frowned impatiently and said, "Dai, Dai, hurry up and give it to me. Stop dawdling."

Duan Xi'er snorted and threw the necklace into his hand.

He held the two ends of the necklace, leaned slightly forward, and put both hands behind her neck.

After getting some fresh air, Lu Zhenyu stepped out of the elevator, radiating a chill.

As she passed by booth 401, the heavy door of the private room was suddenly pushed open, forcing her to take two steps back to the side.

The waiter, who had knelt down and retreated, quickly apologized, "I'm so sorry, ma'am! Are you alright?"

Just as Lu Zhenyu was about to comfort the girl who looked even more frightened than herself, she looked up and her gaze fell on the two figures leaning against each other through the half-open door.

Duan Xi'er, who was facing her, was also taken aback when she inadvertently glanced at Lu Zhenyu.

The next second, he turned his gaze away as if no one else was around and reached out to wrap his arms around Shen Jingsi's waist.

Just as Shen Jingsi was about to find the necklace clasp, he was startled. "What are you doing? Are you trying to abduct a man in broad daylight?"

Duan Xi'er gently rubbed her cheek against his shoulder, a gesture that appeared quite intimate from a distance.

"Can't I even have a hug? As if you're some kind of innocent saint."

The door to the private room was closed, and Duan Xi'er stepped out of his arms, then pretended to be arrogant and threw the necklace back.

"Fine, I'll let it go for now, since you gave me a gift."

Shen Jingsi had already sat back down, chuckling as he held his wine glass, "So great, should I set off some firecrackers to celebrate?"

"I'm too lazy to argue with you." Duan Xi'er stood up on her own. "I'm going outside for some fresh air. I'll be back in a bit."

The person left just like that, and the officer followed closely behind.

"You're not right."

Shen Jingsi glanced at him. "What's wrong with it?"

Thinking of the scene earlier where his brother had put a necklace on a woman, he curled his lip and thought, "Is he going to succumb to Chen Jie's ideology and marry one of the two beauties of Beijing?"

Shen Jingsi curled his lips into a slightly mysterious smile, "Want to know?"

Siwei nodded, and as he beckoned, Siwei leaned in and his face was immediately pinched.

"I'd rather marry you, what do you think?"

The next second, a deafening roar erupted from the private room: "Go to hell, you motherfucker! I'm a straight man, a rock-solid straight man!"

-

After calming down and returning from outside, Feng Manman and Shen Jinchuan stood one after the other outside the private room.

Feng Manman gripped the doorknob of the private room, turned around and looked at him, "Don't follow me, go back to your side."

Shen Jinchuan didn't insist on following him in. "Let me know when you're done, and I'll take you home."

Without saying whether she would use it or not, Feng Manman kept her thoughts to herself until she saw him return to room 401 before she entered the private room.

The noise filled her ears again. Looking at the group of people gathered around the sofa, Feng Manman blinked and her face darkened.

Duan Xi'er, who was chatting with others, saw her return and raised an eyebrow with a provocative smile.

Feng Manman clenched her fists, glanced at Lu Zhenyu who was still sitting quietly in the corner with her head down, and strode over.

"Who let you in?"

The shout was quite loud, and everyone around stopped what they were doing and looked over.

It was clear that Feng Manman was really anxious, as several girls around her were whispering among themselves.

"I told you not to let Duan Xi'er come. The two of them are just naturally incompatible. How about that? Are you really angry now?"

"It's not like we were the ones who shouted it. Tao Zhitao and Duan Xi'er are a couple. She went out for a while and brought the person back. Are we going to kick the person out again?"

Tao Zhitao, who was sitting close to Duan Xier, was still oblivious to the taste of the food when she got up to greet Feng Manman.

"Don't be angry, Manman. We're all friends. Besides, Xiaoxi said she's treating tonight. Look, she ordered all the drinks for this table."

Feng Manman glanced at the red and white dishes on the table and sneered, "What, do you think I can't afford to treat you?"

"How could you? It would be so undignified of you to get angry over something so small, after all..."

The woman drawled out the last syllable, her gaze sweeping over the two of them. "After all, you and Brother Duan Yu have been broken up for so many years. Xiao Xi just said she wanted to reconcile with you, which is why I brought her along."

"Manman, I really want to make up with you."

As she spoke, Duan Xi'er got up and walked towards Feng Manman, her subservient and humble demeanor looking utterly hypocritical.

"So no matter what you say or do to me today, I won't fight back. I'll let you vent until you're completely calmed down, is that alright?"

Something unusual must be going on, Feng Manman knew this woman was up to no good.

"Make up?"

It's as if they had a good relationship.

Feng Manman sneered, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "Fine, since you've put it that way, it would be undignified of me to argue about it now."
