Chapter 150 The Neighbor's Little Pearl

Chapter 150 The Neighbor's Little Pearl

Life in New Zealand moves at a slow pace. People here don't necessarily have to achieve great things, but they certainly know how to enjoy life while they can.

After living in a group for several months, Lu Zhenyu was quite uncomfortable when she suddenly returned to living alone.

Shen Jingsi would occasionally check in on her situation via WeChat, but he wouldn't say much to bother her.

Feng Manman scolded her for going into seclusion at the wrong time, disrupting their group honeymoon plans.

Lu Zhenyu was both amused and exasperated. "Then you can go first, and I'll come find you after I come out of seclusion."

"Lu Zhenyu, do you have any conscience? How can I have fun without you around?"

Lu Zhenyu was both amused and exasperated. She got dressed and came out of the villa. Her fitted yoga clothes accentuated her lithe figure, and her ponytail was tied high behind her head as she warmed up in the yard.

Soon, Feng Manman on the other end of the phone noticed something, "Hey, you have kids at home? I hear a lot of chatter coming from your phone."

Lu Zhenyu ran from her yard onto the path, smiling as she looked towards the source of the sound. "It's the neighbor's house across the street. They have a lot of kids, it's always very lively."

Feng Manman remembered, "It's the family that moved there a year after you, the one that sent you a housewarming gift when I was there?"

"Yes, later their children also moved here, quite a few, I can see four or five of them."

The two sisters exchanged a few more words, and after hanging up the phone, Lu Zhenyu focused her energy on her morning run.

After running around the town for half an hour, I walked back to my own yard, wiping away sweat with a towel.

"Is this Miss Lu? Please wait a moment."

Lu Zhenyu paused as she pushed the door open, turning back to look at the woman walking out of the opposite courtyard.

Lu Zhenyu knew that the Chinese people lived across the street, but she was not often at home and had no contact with her neighbors.

Did you call me?

"Yes, yes." A woman, around forty years old and speaking with a Beijing accent, walked over with a smile.

"Well, while Miss Lu was away from home, someone came to deliver newspapers every day, and I accepted them for her. Wait here, I'll go get them for you."

Lu Zhenyu realized what was happening and followed him, saying, "I was wondering why my mailbox was empty. It turns out you were the one who helped me. Thank you so much!"

The kind-faced, slightly plump woman waved her hand, "It's none of the neighbors' business."

She was very outgoing and invited Lu Zhenyu into her yard.

The children who were playing Eagle Catches Chicks in the yard all looked at Lu Zhenyu with wide, curious eyes.

The woman instructed them to greet her, and the little ones, who had lined up obediently, bowed in unison to Lu Zhenyu, saying, "Hello, Auntie!"

They were all five or six years old, dressed up in their best and most handsome clothes. Lu Zhenyu has never been able to resist children, so she walked over with a smile and said, "Hello."

"Miss Lu, please wait a moment. I'll go back to my room and get it for you now."

"No rush, sister. It's a good opportunity for me to get to know the children."

Being good-looking has one advantage: it makes people like you, whether you're an adult or a child.

As soon as the woman left, Lu Zhenyu quickly became friends with the lively and enthusiastic children, and started acting as their eagle.

As she was playing, a figure suddenly appeared in Lu Zhenyu's peripheral vision.

She stared intently into the villa's floor-to-ceiling windows. The view was too blurry through several layers of glass, but she was certain it was a child.

It wasn't very big, probably around four or five years old, but what puzzled Lu Zhenyu was that the child seemed to be sitting in a round glass capsule.

Before she could get closer to take a closer look, the child was slowly pushed out by two or three servants.

It was a round glass enclosure, where a petite girl was wrapped in a blanket and leaning against the wall, with a sleeping tabby cat lying at her feet.

At first glance, it's white, as white as mutton fat jade.

Lu Zhenyu unconsciously moved closer and saw the girl's face clearly.

She looks like a little Barbie, with thick black hair, big purple eyes, thick eyelashes like feather fans, a rosy cherry mouth, a small and delicate upturned nose, and a pale yellow Lolita princess dress. She looks like a little princess straight out of an animation.

Just like Lu Zhenyu, the man gazed at her quietly with his amber eyes.

Lu Zhenyu had never seen such a beautiful child before. She was so captivated by the sight that she didn't realize she was already in front of the glass enclosure.

The woman came out of the villa at this moment and saw two pasted faces, one large and one small, staring at each other. She stopped in her tracks.

Lu Zhenyu realized that the child, who looked like a Barbie doll, must have some kind of illness, so he had to be isolated from outdoor bacteria and dust and kept in this high-tech glass chamber that was fully automated in terms of disinfection and oxygen production, and could also scan the child's various indicators in real time.

She raised her hand and gently touched the glass capsule, her tender fox eyes revealing an unconscious doting affection. "My little darling, you are so beautiful."

Little Barbie didn't say anything, but stared at Lu Zhenyu with her big, watery eyes.

The woman then walked over and said, "Miss Lu, here is your newspaper."

Lu Zhenyu got up to take it, nodded her thanks, and the two then turned their conversation to the child.

“Our little pearl is four years old, and her health is not very good, so she has to stay in the glass capsule.”

Lu Zhenyu asked cautiously, "Can she talk?"

"She will," the woman smiled indulgently, "but it depends on whether she wants to say it, and it also depends on her mood."

She's a little Barbie with a very strong personality.

Lu Zhenyu looked at the girl again. For some reason, she inexplicably liked the child and couldn't help but want to get close to her the moment she saw her.

She squatted down in front of the glass enclosure again. "Your name is Little Pearl? What a coincidence, my name also has the character 'Zhen' in it. Would you like to get to know me? My name is Lu Zhenyu. What's yours, darling?"

"..."

The villain remained silent, staring intently at Lu Zhenyu's movements.

The air fell silent.

After waiting for a while, the woman watching from the side was about to step forward to explain, fearing that Lu Zhenyu would be embarrassed, when a voice came from inside the glass chamber, "My name is Lu Xinsen."

The soft, sweet sound melted Lu Zhenyu's heart.

Seeing the servants around her staring at her in surprise, Lu Zhenyu asked in confusion, "What's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"

"No, no, no!" The woman quickly waved her hand, her face beaming with joy. "It's such a surprise! Little Pearl rarely speaks to anyone other than her father; you could say she hardly speaks at all."

Lu Zhenyu was a little flattered. After realizing the little one's name, she smiled and looked at him, "What a coincidence, we both have the surname Lu."

The little girl tilted her pretty face and said, "Can we be friends? I like making friends."

The children in the courtyard: "..."

The little girl with two pigtails sticking up to the top of her head sidled up to the boy with the buzz cut and said, "Brother Shinichi, why did Pearl lie?"

A blond, mixed-race boy leaned over and said, "Yeah, she's never made any friends other than us."

The buzz-cut older brother covered the mouths of his chattering younger siblings in front of him, saying, "Don't talk. Whatever Xin Xin says goes."

"..."
