Chapter 132 Smoke of War
Tomorrow is the wedding day, and tonight we're all at Qingyue Manor for two reasons: first, to have a meal together, and second, to discuss the details of tomorrow's wedding.
When Lu Zhenyu finished washing up and changing her clothes, everyone in the restaurant was already seated.
Whether by design or coincidence, she was placed between Feng Jinzhou and Shen Jingsi.
"Little Pearl is here! Please have a seat. We specially saved the best seat for you," Siwei greeted her.
Lu Zhenyu isn't stupid; how could she not sense something fishy?
Two pairs of eyes shot at her at the same time, but she remained unperturbed, drying her hair as she walked over.
Shen Jingsi, with great tact, moved a chair aside, and Lu Zhenyu sat down.
He asked softly, "Why didn't you dry your hair before coming down?"
Lu Zhenyu said, "I was afraid everyone would be getting impatient."
Feng Jinzhou glanced at him with a smile, "Why are you being so formal with a bunch of men who don't stand on ceremony at all?"
Lu Zhenyu smiled as she glanced around at everyone who was enjoying their meal.
Actually, when Manman went up to look for them, she was still showering and told them not to wait for her and to eat first.
There were several plates in front of her, and she looked down at the hand.
After placing the plate full of food down, Shen Jingsi looked at him with exceptionally gentle eyes, "It should be something you don't dislike, so eat it."
He left some food for her.
Broccoli, celery, beef, snails, and lettuce piled high on the plate.
It was indeed food that Lu Zhenyu often ate. She smiled at the expectant eyes that were full of praise and said, "Thank you."
The light in Shen Jingsi's eyes returned to Shen, and the corners of his lips, which had been smiling, flattened for a moment before curving back up again. "You're welcome."
Lu Zhenyu ate quietly. After a while, Feng Jinzhou next to her stood up and asked, "Would you like some juice?"
With food still stuffed in her mouth, Lu Zhenyu quickly raised her hand, "I want to drink it, and with ice and honey."
Feng Jinzhou returned quickly after leaving, placed the water in front of Lu Zhenyu, and said with a hint of teasing, "When did you start liking ice cream? Did you secretly learn it from foreigners?"
Lu Zhenyu hummed in agreement, "Mind your own business. I can still eat a medium-rare steak now."
His strong fingers, which were cutting a medium-rare steak, paused. Chen Jingsi stared at the blood on the meat's surface, put his knife and fork back down, and picked up the whiskey on the rocks beside him, taking two gulps.
The girl ate quickly but not greedily. When she finished eating, she put down her knife and fork, rubbed her bloated belly, and said, "I really, really can't eat anymore."
But Shen Jingsi left her too much food; there's still half a plate left.
Feeling a little reluctant to waste it, I picked up my fork, intending to eat some more.
Before Shen Jingsi could finish speaking, the plate in front of Lu Zhenyu had already been taken away.
Ignoring the girl's surprised look, Feng Jinzhou shoveled the remaining food onto his own plate. "After you've eaten, go upstairs and dry your hair. Don't catch a cold."
At the same time, the hand that had been reached out but missed was silently withdrawn in the corner of Lu Zhenyu's eye, and Lu Zhenyu's gaze followed it.
With a blank expression, Shen Jingsi lowered his eyes, his thin, long fingers gripping the wine glass tightly, and silently took a few more sips.
Following her pale fingertips to her Adam's apple as she swallowed the cold wine, Lu Zhenyu pursed her pink lips.
After a few seconds of quiet thought, I reached out and gently rubbed the drooping head. It was hard to tell whether it was a mother's doting affection for her son or a sister's care for her brother.
"Eat slowly, I'm going upstairs to get my hair done."
He froze, about to drink, and before the astonished Shen Jingsi could look at him, the girl had already stood up.
Lu Zhenyu looked at Feng Jinzhou, "When are you leaving?"
Feng Jinzhou: "Later."
She nodded thoughtfully. "Then I'll come down to find you in a bit and take me to your shooting range."
Feng Jinzhou gave an OK sign. "It's getting colder tonight, wear more layers before you come down."
Lu Zhenyu rolled her eyes, a little impatient. "I know, when did you become like Manman? So long-winded."
He chuckled twice at the departing figure, and as Feng Jinzhou looked away, he met Shen Jingsi's gaze.
That look in his eyes—if he added just a spark, it would have exploded.
Intrigued, Feng Jinzhou raised an eyebrow at the man. "I heard you two are getting a divorce soon. Does that mean I'm a third party?"
It was very provocative.
A cold laugh escaped his thin lips as Shen Jingsi looked away. "I don't think Zhenzhen would be interested in you, and whether or not we can get a divorce is another matter."
"Whether she looks up to you or not is another matter," Feng Jinzhou said with a smile, glancing over. "But it's certain that she doesn't look up to you right now."
A mocking smile played on his thin lips as Shen Jingsi took a sip of his wine. "I will naturally respect Zhenzhen's choice. As for you, if you have the ability to make her happy, then come and try to sow discord in front of me."
"With your perfect error notebook right here, what do I have to be afraid of?" Feng Jinzhou casually raised his hand, clinking orange juice against the whiskey. "Please give me your guidance, ex-husband."
…
When Lu Zhenyu, who had changed into a white tracksuit, came out of the villa, she saw two figures in front of her on the off-road vehicle.
She jogged down the steps, her fitted sportswear accentuating her perfectly proportioned figure, her long, fragrant hair swaying in the breeze.
Lu Zhenyu approached the car, looked left and right, and raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Feng Jinzhou, who was leaning against the hood of the car with his arms crossed, laughed, "My ex-husband is afraid that I will lay a hand on you, so he insists on coming along."
Looking at Shen Jingsi, who was standing to the side with his hands in his pockets, Lu Zhenyu tilted her head and asked, "Are you going too?"
Shen Jingsi silently straightened up, his eyes filled with expectation, but his tone was like that of a child who didn't know whether his mother liked him or his younger brother, and was therefore insecure and cautious in everything he did, "Is it okay?"
To everyone's surprise, the girl didn't hesitate at all, saying, "No."
"..."
Seeing the light in his eyes visibly dim, Lu Zhenyu, who had been serious just a moment ago, suddenly smiled and reached out to rub the man's face, which was filled with disappointment.
"Okay, be good and stop making a fuss. You have a leg injury, go home and rest early."
Before Shen Jingsi could speak, Lu Zhenyu walked directly to her Cullinan, casually saying, "Let's go, Jin Zhou, the sooner you go, the sooner you'll be back."
After glancing at the frozen figure standing in front of him for a moment, Feng Jinzhou smiled and patted him from behind, "Good boy, ex-husband, get some rest."
Even the darkness surrounding the manor couldn't compare to the darkness on Shen Jingsi's face at that moment.
As the car lights flashed one after another, he slowly turned around and watched the off-road vehicle and the Cullinan drive away.
The young woman in the driver's seat reversed the steering wheel with a very graceful manner, and the Cullinan's U-turn out of the parking space was even more nimble.
In four years, she seems to have really changed a lot.
But Shen Jingsi couldn't express his feelings.
I stood there, gazing at the deserted night for a long time.
So long that the lonely figure was tinged with the chill of the night.
…
Gunshots rang out intermittently across the empty training ground.
With ten shots hitting the bullseye and five rings in total, Lu Zhenyu was quite satisfied and took off her goggles.
Feng Jinzhou, leaning back in his chair, walked over with his arms crossed. "Not bad, you've made great progress."
Flipping her hair, Lu Zhenyu turned around and leaned back against the edge of the table with both hands. "You've improved a lot too."
"For example?"
The girl raised an eyebrow. "You're good at being infuriating."
Feng Jinzhou burst out laughing and leaned against the partition next to him. "What, you feel sorry for him just because I teased him a little?"
Lu Zhenyu rolled her eyes. "He's petty. You're making him so angry. Be careful he doesn't retaliate."
Feng Jinzhou smiled, pursing his lips. "What did you remember?"
“No.” Lu Zhenyu looked at the toes of her shoes rubbing against the floor.
What kind of schemes could Shen Jingsi possibly have in front of Lu Zhenyu?
The clever girl got to know him pretty well after only one day of contact.
No matter where they are or what they are doing, their eyes are always on her.
Whenever Feng Jinzhou appeared around her, although he would sit quietly to the side, his eyes would secretly keep her on her toes.
He didn't even eat a bite of dinner, just drank heavily to drown his sorrows.
Feng Jinzhou looked at the girl who had unknowingly become emotional, and became more serious, "If you can't bear to part with her, why insist on divorce?"
The movement of her shoe tip stopped, and Lu Zhenyu's lips curled into a bitter smile. "That's not how things are. Putting aside whether I've lost my memory or not, at this stage, he and I are no longer suitable to live together."
"Where is it unsuitable?"
"Nowhere is suitable."
