Li Lao Er's heart skipped a beat. He looked behind him; there was no one there. He opened the door and looked outside; there was no one there either.
Feeling relieved, Li Lao Er returned to the table, his hands trembling as he held the rabbit skin.
When he was little, he had heard the elders in the production team say that only wealthy people would use animal hides as markers to hide valuable things.
Animal hides can be preserved for a longer time than paper.

The volume didn't decrease, and Zhao Dahua couldn't understand what Li Lao Er was doing. The hand covering her mouth indicated that it was being gaged again.
"Honey, be careful. Sit down here and I'll explain it to you slowly."
After receiving the assurance, Li Lao Er withdrew his hand. He seemed to have forgotten that he hadn't washed his hands after returning from the outhouse. He cautiously glanced at Zhao Da Hua's expression.
Li Lao Er was relieved; there was no foul smell, and the child's mother hadn't noticed.
"Honey, look what this is!"
Pointing to the treasure map on the table, Li Lao Er looked at Zhao Da Hua with excitement and undisguised pride.
"What? No...it's just a piece of scrap paper."
Her voice was as loud as ever, but under Li Lao'er's threat, Zhao Dahua automatically lowered her volume.

Looking up, Li Lao Er and Zhao Da Hua focused their suspicions on the roof beam. Despite having been busy late into the night, their eyes were bright and alert, showing no signs of fatigue.
