Chapter 17 The Second Ungrateful Wolf: Choose for Yourself

[Wait, is my dad blessed with incredible luck and not getting sucked out anymore? Or is there some hidden story in the book?]

Okay, okay, I'm still a baby, I can't think about things that are too complicated.

[It's good that you don't adopt them, oh well! You're a supporting male character, you should be on the female lead's side, we're the villains, don't get involved.]

Sucking on her little finger, Li Yiyi found it incredibly sweet. This wasn't her fault; it was just a child's nature.

"Eldest son, Dad is doing this for your own good."

Old Li was cornered and couldn't come up with a better reason. He wanted to make Old Li the sucker; he knew it was fine, but saying it out loud was beneath him.

"Oh"

He gave a mocking laugh.

Old Man Li knew that if this matter wasn't resolved, Old Man Li would only keep nagging him.

"Dad, you said this kid's father was your former boss, so you must have been involved when you brought him back! If you want to adopt him, then give me back what his father gave me."

Oh, Dad, you're so smart!

[I knew it was strange. People who wouldn't do anything without a reason would actually think about adopting someone else's child. Yang Guowei's parents were both sent to the countryside, so the ingratiating behavior described in the storybooks just felt awkward.]

No wonder, after Dad adopted Yang Guowei, Li Laosi coincidentally found a job; it turns out he was waiting here all along.

Father, you are my god!

Li Laoda was incredibly smug. This was nothing; he had many more clever tricks up his sleeve.

"Father, why haven't you taken it out yet?"

No matter how much Li Lao Er tried to pretend, his eyes became increasingly eager; Li Lao San and Wang Yiting were even more so.

Old Li's former boss was, after all, an official, so he would never skimp on the benefits he received.

"Father, is what my elder brother said true?"

Li Laosan couldn't hold back any longer. He was always favored and said whatever he wanted in front of Li Laotou and Li Laoda.

"No, those are all left to me by my father, you can't touch them."

Yang Guowei stood in front of Old Man Li, his little face showing resentment. In his world, Old Man Li and his gang were all bad people who wanted to steal the money his father had left him.

"Guowei, the money was given to the Li family by your father."

Old Man Li was displeased with what Yang Guowei said. If Yang Guowei's father hadn't given him money, he wouldn't have brought a potential threat home.

Living at their house, eating at their house, using their house—everything costs money.

"Grandpa Li."

Yang Guowei was heartbroken; he couldn't believe that the Grandpa Li he knew had changed.

"Guowei, that money is for your future food, clothing, housing, and transportation."

After a silent struggle, Yang Guowei fell silent, no longer even noticing Li Fuyi sitting beside him and trying to amuse him.

[Let them make a scene, make a scene, the bigger the better. Without my father being a victim, the seemingly peaceful Li family is nothing special.]

[Mom and Dad, look! Yang Guowei seems to hold a grudge against Old Man Li. How interesting!]

[I always knew Yang Guowei was an ingrate. It was all for nothing to treat him with sincerity. Even Old Man Li managed to get him out of trouble, yet he held a grudge over a little money. He truly lives up to his reputation as an ingrate.]

Following Li Yiyi's words, Li Laoda and Jiang Yuting looked over and, sure enough, they saw the resentment and dissatisfaction in Yang Guowei's eyes.

“Dad, Fu Bao wants to play with Guo Wei. Our third branch of the family can adopt Guo Wei.”

Li Fuyi looked at Yang Guowei expectantly, but he didn't even glance at her.

"Father, our second branch is fine too. One son is fine, two sons are fine, and three sons would be even more lively."

Zhao Dahua jumped in to join the fun, and honest Li Lao Er spoke up.

“Dad, Da Hua is right.”

The honest man's words were a decisive blow, and Old Man Li's thinking changed. Old Man Li would certainly not agree; forcing him would only backfire.

With the money matter exposed, we can't let the second and third brothers down.

"If that's the case, then the prestige of the nation will be determined by two..."

"Father!" Old Li San cried out anxiously.

In a moment of inspiration, looking at Yang Guowei and Li Fuyi, Li Laosan had an idea.

"Father, why don't we let Guowei choose for himself?"

Li Laosan was confident in his daughter's charm, as was Wang Yiting. For the sake of money, they temporarily ended their cold war and began to cooperate.

"Dad, Guowei will be raised by our family from now on. He can choose who he wants to live with. We can't just ignore his wishes and let him resent you later!"

It's too late; they've already started holding a grudge!

The gloating, childlike voice brought a big smile to Li Laoda's and Jiang Yuting's faces.

The girl watching the commotion is so cute too.

Old Man Li was in a dilemma. He originally wanted to give it to Li the eldest, but Li the eldest refused. So he settled for Li the second, and Li the second agreed, but Li the third refused.

That makes a lot of sense. Who knows if Yang Guowei's family still has a chance to turn things around? In any case, they have to keep up appearances.

"Guowei, you can choose whichever room you want to go to."

Old Li knew perfectly well that favoritism couldn't be blatant.

In this family, the eldest son has no feelings for them and can't be relied upon. The second son, the third son, and the fourth son are cared for by them and have feelings for them. The second son is honest, and although he and his wife look down on him, they know that this family can't function without a second wife, as the second wife gets the majority of the work points.

The third wife has the ability but no opportunity to leave. Her grandchildren are good, but they're not good at working, let alone supporting them. Li Laosi is her and Li Laotai's youngest son, and he's good-looking, second only to Li Laoda. With his education, he'll definitely not be confined to the production team.

At this point, when nothing is clear, the balance should not be broken, and it is best to let Yang Guowei make his own choice.

Yang Guowei looked up, his gaze sweeping over the group. Deep down, he wanted to go to Old Master Li's house.
