“This is the second letter. It was written to us by Jiang Zuoque after your family was gone.”
Guilt overwhelmed Aunt Jiang and Uncle Jiang. Jiang Zuoming and Jiang Xiaomei, standing nearby, also fell silent, heads bowed.

He returned and married her, giving her a place to stay.
Through the letter, Jiang Yuting seemed to see Jiang Zuoque's ugly face. Was giving her a place to stay meant for her to become a mistress and be grateful?

He knew, yet chose to let Jiang Zuoque do as she pleased, watching her worry and sigh every day about family matters.
When it actually happens, they start making excuses for themselves again. The rest is obvious; it's very simple.
Perhaps he felt too guilty, which is why he let her leave, or perhaps her presence affected Jiang Zuoque, which is why he let her go.
