"Li Daqiang, tell me, how have we been ungrateful?"
When his words were interrupted, Li Daqiang realized something was wrong; many of the people he had visited earlier were now standing behind Yao Dong.
She looked at him with a cold smile, as if they had some deep-seated grudge.
“Li Daqiang, speak up! Why aren’t you saying anything? Come in, I’m going to settle this with you today. Who is the real ungrateful person who broke the rules of the underworld?”
The door swung open, and a group of burly men rushed out, grabbing Li Daqiang and Li Wuchi and pulling them inside.
Li Wuchi was somewhat skilled, but he was no match for the crowd and was dragged into the house without any resistance.
Once inside, they discovered there were even more people. Li Daqiang and Li Wuchi looked like two sheep who had fallen into a pack of wolves.
But whether it was Li Yiyi or anyone else, they all knew very well that...
The two men in front of me, Li Daqiang and Li Wuchi, are wolves in sheep's clothing.
"Li Daqiang, tell me, when I was mentoring you back then, what was the most important rule I told you about the ways of the underworld?"
Everyone has a mentor when they first start out. Boss Peng in front of us is the one who introduced Li Daqiang to the business, just like Li Daqiang was Yao Dong's mentor.
What is the most important point?
Li Daqiang seemed to recall something, a chill ran down his spine, and he didn't dare to look up at Boss Peng.
"Say something, Li Daqiang, why aren't you saying anything?"
Peng Laoda was furious at Li Daqiang's cowardly behavior. At this moment, Li Daqiang felt fear. Why hadn't he been afraid when he betrayed them?
"Li Daqiang, you won't talk, huh? Let me tell you, the most important thing in the underworld is loyalty. You'd never betray your brothers, even if it meant going through fire and water. Also, keep what you've done to yourself, don't ask questions or investigate."
"And you, Li Daqiang, tell me what you did."
Another powerful kick sent Li Daqiang sprawling to the ground. They had all gathered there because it was a secluded spot, making it easy to take action.
"Father, get out! You despicable people, let me go!"
Seeing Li Daqiang being beaten, Li Wuchi's bloodlust surged.
Before he could even stand up, the person watching him kicked him squarely in the knee, the pain causing Li Wuchi to fall to his knees again.
The soil was mixed with small pebbles; Li Wuchi suffered no less pain than Li Daqiang.
"None of you should touch my son."
Putting aside everything else, Li Daqiang's love for Li Wuchi is very pure. When he saw Li Wuchi being beaten, he didn't even care about his own safety. He got up from the ground and tried to walk towards Li Wuchi.
The next second, a powerful kick came flying at Li Daqiang.
With a "bang",
Li Daqiang fell straight forward, his entire face buried in the ground.
The person who kicked him caught up, grabbed Li Daqiang by the hair, and lifted him off the ground.
"Oh, quite the father-son bond, Li Daqiang. What did you say when you first entered this business? You said you were all alone, with no family, no wife, and no son. Now how did you suddenly have such a big son? Did your new wife cheat on you?"
After he finished speaking, many people burst into laughter, but only they knew the bitterness behind that laughter.
Li Yiyi just watched, unsure of what to say.
What can I say? I can only say Li Daqiang was incredibly reckless. Every profession has its rules, and Li Daqiang insisted on breaking them.
"Shut up! You despicable people, you are not allowed to insult my father and mother."
"Hey, I didn't realize your son, Li Daqiang, had such a backbone! He's nothing like you in that respect!"
"Don't...don't touch my son. All the blame is mine, it has nothing to do with my son."
"Oh."
He slammed Li Daqiang's face into the ground and rubbed it against the ground, inwardly sneering.
"It's unrelated, how could it be unrelated? Li Daqiang, your son is able to raise so many people, we brothers have put in a lot of effort."
If it weren't for their care of Li Daqiang, it's questionable whether Li Wuchi could even support his wife and son. Yet, he's such a heartless bastard...
They betrayed them the moment they got into trouble. If it weren't for their own connections, Li Daqiang would have ended up like them.
"Li Daqiang, I just want to ask you one question: Have you been living in peace all these years? It must have felt good to betray us!"
As the pain subsided, Li Daqiang looked at Boss Peng with panic in his eyes, then glanced around.
They all know what he did back then.
Only in this way can we explain why they ignored him and turned him away when he came to their door.
When Li Daqiang was arrested, facing the fear of death, he confessed to the names of many people, including Boss Peng, who had trained him, and Yao Dong, who had also trained him.
The saying goes, "Every man for himself," and Li Daqiang didn't think he had done anything wrong.
Fortunately, he had done enough research and implicated enough people, which saved his life. Boss Li was someone he had carefully considered but hadn't revealed.
First of all, Boss Li is a man of great loyalty and affection. He had made preparations long ago: if anything happened to him, his wife would take their son to find Boss Li.
Out of consideration for their past relationship, Li Daqiang believed that Li Laoda wouldn't abandon him. Secondly, Li Laoda was a digger, and most people wouldn't guess his background. In a sense, this provided his wife and son with another form of security.
Who knew he had misjudged him? The Boss Li he left behind was an ingrate who had betrayed his good intentions.
Li Daqiang didn't think he had done anything wrong regarding the background check; he simply wanted to have more protection for himself, since he was dealing with a very sensitive issue.
Peng and his gang only talked a good game; Li Daqiang didn't believe they would actually abide by it.
