The room wasn't a good place to talk. Long Tian glanced at Li Hun at the doorway, a sneer forming in his mind, before continuing forward. He was confident Li Hun would follow.
The hopping footsteps were loud, which matched what Long Tian had found out: Li Su had an older brother with a broken leg.
"You're Li Su's brother, what do you want from me?"
Even though he was shorter than Li Hun, Long Tian still held his head high, as if that would prove he was the boss.
His gaze shifted from Li Hun's face to his legs, and Long Tian laughed without restraint. After taking over the local thugs, Long Tian discovered something quite amusing.
Li Hun's leg was deliberately broken by Li Su, meaning Li Su was responsible for Li Hun's broken leg. It's just unknown whether Li Hun knows this.
The undisguised laughter made Li Hun clench his fists tightly, but his expression remained unchanged.
"I...I am Li Su's brother. I've come to see you today mainly because there's something I need to tell you, something about Li Su."
"Tell me about Li Su. If it pleases me, I'll tell you something that will definitely satisfy you."
Li Hun was brought to him, and Long Tian was extremely satisfied.
He and Li Su have now fallen out, but as fellow strategists and competitors, he doesn't want to see Li Su have an easy time.
As far as he knew, Li Hun held a very high position in the family, the kind of person whose word was law. If Li Hun knew the truth about the broken leg, would Li Su's life still be easy?
Definitely not. Not to mention Li Hun, Li's mother alone could give Li Su a hard time.
"good."
Li Hun wanted to know what Long Tian would say about something that would satisfy him.
"Long Tian, do you know why those girls turned against us in the end?"
"What do you mean?"
Those girls betrayed us.
Long Tian instantly revealed his true colors, grabbing Li Hun by the collar as if to confirm he hadn't misheard.
His plan was flawless. If those last few girls hadn't betrayed him, he would have succeeded long ago. Why would he be stuck in the room smoking tobacco to drown his sorrows?
"It means what you guessed; it was Li Su who did it."
Betraying his own sister was like betraying an animal; Li Hun had no feelings for Li Su anymore.
He stared down at his leg; it was healed, but the injuries and pain he had suffered in the past were still vivid in his mind.
He treated Li Su like a younger sister, protecting her since childhood. He gave her whatever she wanted, and if he didn't have something, he would ask Li's mother for it.
He admitted that he was not a good person in the eyes of outsiders, having done everything from cheating and fighting, but he had a clear conscience towards Li Su.
When Li Su's family was poor and she was not allowed to go to school, it was he who pleaded with her mother. He and her mother got up early every morning to carry manure for others to earn money for Li Su's tuition.
When Li Su wanted new clothes, he deliberately damaged his own new clothes and took them to Li's mother to be altered into the new clothes Li Su wanted.
He cherished Li Su like a treasure, but Li Su didn't seem to see him that way. Li Su resented him, hating that he had taken away her mother's attention and love.
She resented him for getting everything from the family, but with the family so poor, what could he possibly have gotten? All Li Su saw was the good, which was only because he, as the older brother, had shielded her from the storms of life.
The resentment finally took effect the year he entered junior high school.
One day, Li Su ran home from outside, disheveled, and threw herself into his arms, saying that someone had taken advantage of her.
Li Su was only a fourth-grade student at the time, and since he had never truly understood her feelings, he was furious when he heard her say that.
Bullying his sister is bullying him.
Enraged, Li Hun disregarded everything and went to settle scores without asking any questions. When he arrived, he swung his fists and charged forward.
But how could he possibly be a match for those burly men? He fought them too, and they fought back even harder than he had.
He struggled, which only excited them more. Eventually, he lost all feeling of pain and collapsed to the ground, dazed and confused.
When they saw that he didn't move, they kicked him a few times, and finally found some stones from the roadside and threw them off the wall, making it look like the stones had fallen and broken his leg.
The pain from his broken leg almost overwhelmed him, but thinking of Li Su, Li Hun dared not faint. His mother had gone to work, and he was afraid that Li Su would be scared alone at home.
With his leg broken, he still had his hands, so Li Hun used his hands to support himself and dragged his mangled, bloody leg forward.
He wasn't sure if it was his imagination, but Li Hun felt like someone was talking at the alley entrance.
It was several male voices and a voice etched into one's very being—it was Li Su's.
He only heard Li Su say that he was useless and couldn't take a beating, and even asked why he wasn't beaten to death. At that moment, his heart sank, but he wasn't sure if it was Li Su. Then he started making excuses for Li Su.
All children's voices sound the same; maybe she misheard.
As he listened, Li Hun behind him couldn't hear anything anymore. He fainted, and when he woke up again three days later, he was lying in the hospital.
The news I received was that his leg was broken and there was no possibility of recovery.
Li Su walked in, and Li Hun immediately looked at her, clearly seeing the smugness and mockery in Li Su's eyes.
The person in front of him who cared about him and called him brother, Li Su, seemed to be the one who really caused his leg to break.
Looking back on that day, Li Hun noticed something suspicious that she had overlooked: how could someone treat a child like her so badly?
When she rushed over, there weren't any tear stains on her face.
If he really intended to do something to Li Su, how did she manage to escape from several burly men? He tried, even at the cost of a leg.
There's no escaping it.
Just as he was about to ask Li Su a question, Li's mother came in from the door and grabbed Li Su, beating her mercilessly.
