Chapter 40 Buying Seeds, The Tumultuous Ox Cart

Li Wuchi? You're shameless? Boss Li felt like he was being subtly insulted.

However, the third ingrate...

I thought there were already enough Number One and Number Two, but then I found out there's a Number Three. Just how pitiful was he portrayed, with all the people he helped being heartless bastards?

However, he had met several people in the black market, but the only people with the surname Li he knew were Li Daqiang and an old man named Li. Li Daqiang was young, and he had never heard of him having a son.

The other Mr. Li was quite old and had a family, but it was unclear which one it was, the cautious Mr. Li asked tentatively.

"Brother Li, you're not getting any younger, aren't you planning to settle down? If you don't have anyone suitable, I'll ask your sister-in-law to introduce you to someone. We men should get married and have a baby as soon as possible. Look how cute my daughter is!"

While teasing Li Yiyi, Li Laoda's eyes never left Li Daqiang.

The other person's reaction was a bit strange, tinged with wariness and defensiveness. Li Laoda felt a chill; he thought he got along quite well with Li Daqiang, but he hadn't expected Li Daqiang to be so defensive over a simple question.

Regardless of whether he is the father of the ingrate number three his daughter mentioned, Boss Li has no intention of cooperating with him. Sincerity is what constitutes cooperation; what's the point of being wary?

“Brother Li, you’re joking. People in our line of work don’t know where their tomorrow will be. How could I dare to marry a wife and have children? Rather than let them live in fear with me, I’d rather be single and carefree.”

There was no trace of acting; he spoke from the heart, and Boss Li couldn't tell whether he was telling the truth or lying.

[Dad, it seems he wasn't lying.]

Could it really not be him?

Li Yiyi's intuition told her that what Li Daqiang said was true.

"Alright, you know what you're doing. I still prefer having a wife and kids, which is different from your idea."

After offering a few words of comfort, Boss Li carried Li Yiyi away, as staying any longer would be risky.

Li Daqiang remained silent for a long time. He took out half of the red bag and then stuffed it back into his pocket. It was meant for Li Yiyi, but he didn't plan to give it to her.

Once outside, Boss Li wanted to verify the identity of the other person.

"Girl, bring out another small pheasant later."

Li Yi did as instructed, taking out the smallest pheasant from the storage space. It weighed about a pound or two, and when Li Yi lifted it, it was just the right size.

What appeared to be a leisurely stroll actually led Li Yiyi to another place, a bit far from Li Daqiang's house.

[Dad, people say a cunning rabbit has three burrows, but you're even more of a rabbit than a rabbit.]

Li Laoda paused in his knocking, but continued knocking before Li Yiyi noticed.

Let's assume he's praising him by calling her his daughter!

"Brother Li, you've arrived."

Li Yi was speechless. Why did they always address each other as "brother" or "little brother"?

[Dad, you were just the eldest brother, and now you're the youngest.]

Hey big brother, it's not easy being a little brother.

"Uncle Li, I've come to exchange some vegetable seeds. Do you think this is enough?"

The black bag was handed over, and Grandpa Li opened it, looked inside, and smiled. He then invited Li Laoda and Li Yiyi into the house.

"Daughter, remember to tell your father what you like."

"Father, I understand."

Li Yiyi said she understood; the vegetable seeds were definitely planted in her space so she would have fresh vegetables to eat later.

Grandpa Li glanced at Li Yiyi and smiled kindly. Li Yiyi returned a big smile.

Upon arriving at the stall, Li Yiyi asked Li Laoda to take a little of every kind of seed, and also bought several fruit trees.

"Dad, apple, apple."

"Understood, my little ancestor."

Before he could even put his things away, Old Li resignedly went to get the fruit tree that Li Yiyi had asked for.

In the end, they gave him two extra yuan, but who knew Li Yiyi wanted several fruit trees, not just apple trees.

As they were leaving, before Old Li could even ask an excuse, Old Li brought up the matter of replacing the person in charge.

"Brother Li, my son will take care of this place from now on. I'm going home to play with my grandson."

"Father, could it be him?"

He said he has a son, and his son has a son.

A string of sons, everything Li Yiyi said was right, but the eldest son found it all too rambling.

"Okay, I understand, Uncle Li."

I'll agree now, whether I come or not is another matter, but I definitely won't be coming.

My daughter's words came first.

He should keep his distance from those ungrateful wretches of his! Just thinking about it makes him uncomfortable. So what if they're villains? Do villains always have to have tragic endings?

After taking the seeds and fruit trees out, and seeing no one around, Li Laoda had Li Yiyi put the things away. They then went to the supply and marketing cooperative and ransacked the place before finally taking Li Yiyi to the oxcart.

When they arrived, Li Fuyi and two others were sitting on the oxcart. Despite the biting wind, they seemed oblivious to the cold, their necks stretched straighter than bamboo shoots, looking incredibly arrogant. Li Laosan and Wang Yiting were carrying large and small bags, their spoils of war.

The envious glances restored their confidence, especially when they saw Boss Li and Li Yiyi empty-handed; their disdain was practically overflowing.

"Brother, why didn't you buy anything?"

Li Laosan could finally show off in front of Li Laoda, but Li Laoda didn't want to pay attention. Li Yiyi wouldn't stand for it.

"Third Uncle, all of my father's money went to my medical treatment."

With a single, decisive sentence, Li Yiyi, looking timid, pitiful, and helpless, lowered her head, feigning remorse.

"Brother Li, quickly bring Yi Yi over here, it's warm here with your aunt."

As soon as Aunt Hua spoke, the people around automatically made room. Thanks to Li Yiyi, Li Laoda got a good seat, while Li Laosan and the others were almost pushed off.
